Signature of Pseudo Nambu-Goldstone Higgs boson in its Decay

If the Higgs boson is a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson (PNGB), the hZγhZ\gamma contact interaction induced by the O(p4)\mathcal{O}(p^4) invariants of the non-linear sigma model is free from its nonlinearity effects. The process hZγh\rightarrow Z\gamma can be used to eliminate the universal effects of heavy particles, which can fake the nonlinearity effects of the PNGB Higgs boson in the process hVVh\rightarrow V^*V (V=W±V=W^\pm,\ ZZ). We demonstrate that the ratio of the signal strength of hZγh\rightarrow Z\gamma and hVVh\rightarrow V^*V is good to distinguish the signature of the PNGB Higgs boson from Higgs coupling deviations

In the title compound, C18H14Br2N2O3, an intramolecular N—H⋯N hydrogen bond forms an eight-membered ring. The dihedral angle between the planes of the quinoline system and the benzene ring is 41.69 (1)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and short Br⋯O interactions [3.0079 (19) Å]

Why Individuals Commit Computer Offences in Organizations: Investigating the Roles of Rational Choice, Self-Control, and Deterrence

Computer offences and crimes against corporate computer systems have increasingly become a major challenge to information security management in the Internet-enabled global economy and society. In this study, we attempt to develop a theoretical model that integrates three main stream criminology theories, i.e., general deterrence, rational choice, and individual propensity. We submit that, while the main decision process leading to an offensive act may be explained by the rational choice theory, self-control and deterrence factors could significantly alter the risk-benefit calculus assumed in the rational choice model. Using data collected from employees in multiple organizations, we tested our model using structural equation modelling techniques. We found that the perceived benefits of offensive acts dominate the rational calculus in individuals, and that the low self-control significantly impacts the perceived benefits and risks, thus playing a major role in the computer offences perpetrated by individuals in organizational settings. In addition, we found that deterrence only has limited impact on the offensive intentions through increased perceived risks. By integrating multiple theories into one seamless model, we hope to provide better understanding of computer offences and deeper insights for improving information security management practices

Identification and genetic characterization of an Aegilops tauschii ortholog of the wheat leaf rust disease resistance gene Lr1

Aegilops tauschii (goat grass) is the progenitor of the Dgenome in hexaploid bread wheat. We have screened more than 200 Ae. tauschii accessions for resistance against leaf rust (Puccinia triticina) isolates, which are avirulent on the leaf rust resistance gene Lr1. Approximately 3.5% of the Ae. tauschii accessions displayed the same low infection type as the tester line Thatcher Lr1. The accession Tr.t.213, which showed resistance after artificial infection with Lr1 isolates both in Mexico and in Switzerland, was chosen for further analysis. Genetic analysis showed that the resistance in this accession is controlled by a single dominant gene, which mapped at the same chromosomal position as Lr1 in wheat. It was delimited in a 1.3-cM region between the restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) markers ABC718 and PSR567 on chromosome5DL of Ae. tauschii. The gene was more tightly linked to PSR567 (0.47cM) than to ABC718 (0.79cM). These results indicate that the resistance gene in Ae. tauschii accession Tr.t.213 is an ortholog of the leaf rust resistance gene Lr1 of bread wheat, suggesting that Lr1 originally evolved in diploid goat grass and was introgressed into the wheat Dgenome during or after domestication of hexaploid wheat. Compared to hexaploid wheat, higher marker polymorphism and recombination frequencies were observed in the region of the Lr1 ortholog in Ae. tauschii. The identification of Lr1Ae, the orthologous gene of wheat Lr1, in Ae. tauschii will allow map-based cloning of Lr1 from this genetically simpler, diploid genom

From January 2013 to October 2014, a total of 125 patients with bile duct stones undergoing surgery were included in the study. Phone follow-ups were given and the data were collected. The results showed as follow: 68 patients had low short ability about T tube nursing, 34 patients had weak awareness about T tube defluxion, 31 patients had poor nursing about the wound, 29 patients had poor compliance, 67 patients felt nervous and anxious. During the phone follow-ups, health guidance including general nursing, tube defluxion prevention, wound nursing, compliance and psychological instruction were given to the patients. With such health guidance, patients could pass through the period of carrying T tube.

AbstractObjectiveTo investigate the mechanism of survivin, p53 and Ki-67 on Hep-2 human laryngeal cancer endothelial cell proliferation and invasion.MethodsLaryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and paracancerous normal tissues were collected, total RNA was extracted from tissues, survivin, p53 and Ki-67 gene mRNA expression levels in laryngeal cancer and the adjacent tissues were detected by Real-time PCR. Human laryngeal cancer Hep-2 epithelial cells were selected, survivin gene was overexpressed, and cell proliferation was detected by MTT. p53 and Ki-67 gene expression changes in overexpressed survivin gene were detected by Western blot. Changes in Hep-2 cell invasive ability were studied when survivin was overexpressed as detected by Transwell invasion assay.ResultsIn the adjacent tissues, survivin, p53 and Ki-67 gene relative expression levels were 1.72 ± 0.9, 13.7 ± 5.7 and 5.7 ± 1.3, respectively; while in cancer tissues, gene relative expression levels were 53.7 ± 8.3, 66.7 ± 5.2 and 61.0 ± 3.1, respectively, which was significantly increased. As detected by MTT, relative cell survival rate within 12 h of survivin overexpression were: load control group (88.5 ± 1.6)%; overexpressed group (90.3 ± 1.9)%. Transwell invasion assay results indicated that overexpressed survivin could significantly increase the relative survival rate of cells.ConclusionsExpressions of p53, Ki67 and survivin are increased in cancer; and there is a positive correlation between survivin, p53 and Ki67 expressions in laryngeal carcinoma

Periodontal Regeneration of Teeth with Radicular Developmental Groove after Intentional Replantation: Two Case Reports

    Get PDF
Our case reports probe whether intentional replantation is a feasible and successful treatment for teeth with radicular developmental groove. Radicular developmental groove is an anatomical malformation that often leads to combined periodontal-endodontic lesion. Treatment of complex radicular groove presents a great challenge to the operator. Two cases of periodontal compromised teeth with this developmental anomaly were treated with intentional replantation and followed up for 2 years. The teeth were asymptomatic and functional. The periodontal probing depths decreased from original 10 mm to 2-3 mm. The receded gingival papillae associated with the teeth was regenerated two years after intentional replantation. With careful case selection and treatment planning, intentional replantation may be a predictable alternative treatment modality for the combined endodontic‐periodontal lesion accompanied with radicular developmental groove

Purpose: To search for novel biomarkers for early diagnosis of cervical cancer, as well as novel therapeutic target for cervical cancer. Methods: A total of 96 cervical tissue specimens were collected from patients in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, out of which 10 were normal control. The remaining specimens (86) were cervical cancer specimens and were divided into 4 groups (A - D) based on tumor-biomarker levels of CA125 and SCC. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction technology (qRT-PCR) was used to detect the expressions of miRNA-143, miRNA-34A, miRNA-944, miRNA-101 and miRNA-218 in the cervical cancer tissues. Results: The levels of CA125 (U/mL) and SCC (ug/L) expressed in normal control group and groups A - D were 11.75 and 0.73 (n = 10), 382 and 2.72 (n = 25), 912.9 and 3.93 (n = 21), 1675 and 5.87 (n = 29), and 2120 and 6.66 (n = 11), respectively. Furthermore, qRT-PCR results showed that the expressions of miRNA-944 and miRNA-218 in cervical cancer tissues were markedly up-regulated compared to normal control tissues (p < 0.01). In contrast, the expression level of miRNA-143, miRNA-34A, and miRNA-101 were significantly decreased (p < 0.01).Conclusion: The biomarkers, miRNA-143, miRNA-34A, miRNA-944, miRNA-101 and miRNA-218, can be considered novel for early diagnosis of cervical cancer. Keywords: Cervical cancer, Biomarkers, miRNA-143, miRNA-34A, miRNA-944, miRNA-101, miRNA- 21
