    Get PDF

PARTICIPATION AND CONTROL IN ONLINE COMMUNITIES: COMPARING THREE CASES OF USER INVOLVEMENT IN SERVICE NETWORKS

    Get PDF
This paper aims at investigating three different scenarios of user involvement in service networks. In particular, we chose a heterogeneous network of small and medium sized enterprises (SME), where firms form the network and users are the employees of those firms, a health care network, where hospitals and physicians are institutional members of the network and the role of the ?user? is assumed by patients, and an open source service network (OSSN), where open source firms are institutional members of the network, and both employees of those firms as well as free developers may be considered ?users.? Based upon qualitative interviews we find transparency and perceptions of regulations and control to be important for institutional actors in service networks. As such, this study provides recommendations to service network managers and service network members that intend to make use of user?s knowledge by means of collaborative tools and online platforms

Web 2.0 in SME Networks - A Design Science Approach Considering Multi-Perspective Requirements

    Get PDF
As small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) face new challenges in a complex and dynamic competitive environment, they need to cooperate due to their restricted resources and limited capacities. At this, Enterprise 2.0 is seen as a supporting approach. To this date, there is a lack of academic publications concerning recommendations for the application of Web 2.0 artifacts in SME-networks. This paper aims at bridging this gap by suggesting a conceptual base following the design science approach. Based on technical and organizational requirements resulting from exploratory interviews with representatives of SMEs participating in a regional SME-network, we transfer the requirements in a prototypic concept. This developed artifact provides a basis for a field test to evaluate the concept and for further research

WEB 2.0 ENABLED EMPLOYEE COLLABORATION IN DIVERSE SME NETWORKS: A CEOs PERSPECTIVE

    Get PDF
With the emergence of phenomena like computer supported cooperative work, and especially with user-generated content and Web 2.0, new opportunities for SMEs occurred in order to collaborate on an employees’ level. As claimed by open innovation researchers, a heterogeneous group of (external) users can increase a firm’s innovative performance. These external users can be found in the form of employees of other firms participating in a SME network. However, especially SMEs are influenced by the founder’s personality and his practiced level of control, both in an offline and in an online world. Using a multi-method approach, we focus on CEOs’ perceptions of the potentials and pitfalls of Web 2.0 usage for business collaboration among employees of different firms. By providing evidence with a focus on competitive and non-competitive business collaboration mediated by Web 2.0 technologies this research may be considered an important basis for further research in employee creativity, idea generation and open innovation

Charge dynamics effects in conductance through a large semi-open quantum dot

Fano lineshapes in resonant transmission in a quantum dot imply interference between localized and extended states. The influence of the charge accumulated at the localized levels, which screens the external gate voltage acting on the conduction channel is investigated. The modified Fano q parameter and the resonant conduction is derived starting from a microscopic Hamiltonian. The latest experiments on "charge sensing" and ``Coulomb modified Fano sensing `` compare well with the results of the present model.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, RevTex styl

AVALIAÇÃO SOBRE O SISTEMA OPERACIONAL DAS FRANQUIAS EMPRESARIAIS – FRANCHISING

    Get PDF
Franqueador. Franqueado. Praying Mantis Bending Core Breakoff and Retention Mechanism

    Get PDF
Sampling cores requires the controlled breakoff of the core at a known location with respect to the drill end. An additional problem is designing a mechanism that can be implemented at a small scale, yet is robust and versatile enough to be used for a variety of core samples. The new design consists of a set of tubes (a drill tube, an outer tube, and an inner tube) and means of sliding the inner and outer tubes axially relative to each other. Additionally, a sample tube can be housed inside the inner tube for storing the sample. The inner tube fits inside the outer tube, which fits inside the drill tube. The inner and outer tubes can move axially relative to each other. The inner tube presents two lamellae with two opposing grabbing teeth and one pushing tooth. The pushing tooth is offset axially from the grabbing teeth. The teeth can move radially and their motion is controlled by the outer tube. The outer tube presents two lamellae with radial extrusions to control the inner tube lamellae motion. In breaking the core, the mechanism creates two support points (the grabbing teeth and the bit tip) and one push point. The core is broken in bending. The grabbing teeth can also act as a core retention mechanism. The praying mantis that is disclosed herein is an active core breaking/retention mechanism that requires only one additional actuator other than the drilling actuator. It can break cores that are attached to the borehole bottom a
