D.) University of Missouri-Columbia 2007.The primary goal of this dissertation research was to develop methods for routine speciation analysis of selenium in tissues. A method for total selenium using on-line stable isotope dilution analysis with conventional ICP-MS (SIDA-ICP-MS) was developed. Masses at 77, 78, 79, 81, and 82 were monitored and quantitation of Se was determined based on both 78Se and 82Se. SIDA-ICP-MS was successfully applied to the determination of total selenium in biological materials, such as selenized yeasts, certified reference materials, lab-cultured oligochaetes and desert pupfish. The separation and quantitation of seleno-amino acids was accomplished by ion-pairing reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC) and detected by ICP-MS at mass 82 using the standard mode. It was found that methanesulfonic acidic hydrolysis demonstrated a higher extraction efficiency of selenomethionine than enzymatic digestion. Selenomethionine (SeMet) was the only significant Se-containing species detected in the biological samples that were examined

Pameran RASA 2013 = RASA showcase 2013 / Wan Nur Khalisah Shamsudin...[et.al]
Digital Art is a form of art that uses computer software to perform various technique such as manipulation, illustration, modification and many more. RASA is a digital art design showcase participated by 17 lecturers from Graphic Design & Digital Media Program. under the Faculty of Art & Design. UiTM Melaka. 17 artworks were displayed in art Gallery Pakus Halus. Bandar Hilir a modern and contemporary art gallery located in the heart of Melaka Historical City.
The objective of the showcase is to increase awareness on digital art appreciation among the society especially when digital art do have a very high percentage of opportunity in promoting our treasure local elemen to the other country. Develop digital artist personality about art society among the academician in order to support the development of digital art such as art tourism in Malaysia
4D trajectory optimization of commercial flight for green civil aviation
For the current development of green civil aviation, this study aims to optimize the green four-dimensional (4D) trajectory of commercial flight by taking into account conventional cost and environmental cost. Some fundamental models, efficient processing methodologies, and conventional objectives are proposed to construct the framework of trajectory optimization. Based on the environmental cost including greenhouse gas cost and harmful gas cost, green objective functions are presented. The A* algorithm and the trapezoidal collocation method are employed to optimize the lateral path and vertical profile for 4D optimization trajectory generation. A case study for the A320 from Barcelona Airport to Frankfurt Airport yields the results that the optimal costs can be obtained under different objectives and the total cost can be more optimized by adjusting the weights of environmental cost and conventional cost. The study builds an aided tool for 4D trajectory optimization and demonstrates that environmental factors and conventional factors should be taken into comprehensive consideration when constructing the flight trajectory in the future, as well as it can underpin the green and sustainable development of the air transport industry
Form factors of transition within the light-front quark models
In this paper, we calculate the vector, axial-vector and tensor form factors
of transition within the standard light-front~(SLF) and covariant
light-front~(CLF) quark models~(QMs). The self-consistency and Lorentz
covariance of CLF QM with two types of correspondence schemes are investigated.
The zero-mode effects and the spurious -dependent contributions to the
form factors of transition are analyzed. Employing a self-consistent
CLF QM, we present our numerical predictions for the vector, axial-vector and
tensor form factors of ~() induced , , , transitions and induced , , , transitions.
Finally, in order to test the obtained form factors, the semileptonic ~() and
decays are studied. It is expected that our
results for the form factors of transition can be applied further to
the relevant phenomenological studies of meson decays.Comment: 41 pages, 7figures. arXiv admin note: text overlap with

Gender Differences in Bile Acids and Microbiota in Relationship with Gender Dissimilarity in Steatosis Induced by Diet and FXR Inactivation.
This study aims to uncover how specific bacteria and bile acids (BAs) contribute to steatosis induced by diet and farnesoid X receptor (FXR) deficiency in both genders. A control diet (CD) and Western diet (WD), which contains high fat and carbohydrate, were used to feed wild type (WT) and FXR knockout (KO) mice followed by phenotyping characterization as well as BA and microbiota profiling. Our data revealed that male WD-fed FXR KO mice had the most severe steatosis and highest hepatic and serum lipids as well as insulin resistance among the eight studied groups. Gender differences in WD-induced steatosis, insulin sensitivity, and predicted microbiota functions were all FXR-dependent. FXR deficiency enriched Desulfovibrionaceae, Deferribacteraceae, and Helicobacteraceae, which were accompanied by increased hepatic taurine-conjugated cholic acid and β-muricholic acid as well as hepatic and serum lipids. Additionally, distinct microbiota profiles were found in WD-fed WT mice harboring simple steatosis and CD-fed FXR KO mice, in which the steatosis had a potential to develop into liver cancer. Together, the presented data revealed FXR-dependent concomitant relationships between gut microbiota, BAs, and metabolic diseases in both genders. Gender differences in BAs and microbiota may account for gender dissimilarity in metabolism and metabolic diseases
