Chemical incorporation of copper into indium selenide thin films

    Get PDF
Indium selenide thin-films have been treated in a copper-containing chemical bath with the goal of forming a precursor layer capable of being converted into copper indium diselenide. The conversion process was carried out by annealing the layers in a tube furnace in the presence of selenium vapour. The phase content of the layers as a function of composition and annealing temperature has been investigated by Raman spectroscopy. It is concluded that copper selenide is formed during the chemical bath treatment and that during annealing the copper selenide reacts first with elemental selenium vapour and then with the indium selenide to form chalcopyrite CuInSe2. Secondary phases of CuIn3Se5 and Cu-Au ordered CuInSe2 have been detected in annealed copper-poor layers

A generic method for structure recognition of handwritten mail documents

International audienceThis paper presents a system to extract the logical structure of handwritten mail documents. It consists in two joined tasks: the segmentation of documents into blocks and the labeling of such blocks. The main considered label classes are: addressee details, sender details, date, subject, text body, signature. This work has to face with difficulties of unconstrained handwritten documents: variable structure and writing. We propose a method based on a geometric analysis of the arrangement of elements in the document. We give a description of the document using a two-dimension grammatical formalism, which makes it possible to easily introduce knowledge on mail into a generic parser. Our grammatical parser is LL(k), which means several combinations are tried before extracting the good one. The main interest of this approach is that we can deal with low structured documents. Moreover, as the segmentation into blocks often depends on the associated classes, our method is able to retry a different segmentation until labeling succeeds. We validated this method in the context of the French national project RIMES, which proposed a contest on a large base of documents. We obtain a recognition rate of 91.7% on 1150 images

Segmentation of Arabic Handwritten Documents into Text Lines using Watershed Transform

    Get PDF
A crucial task in character recognition systems is the segmentation of the document into text lines and especially if it is handwritten. When dealing with non-Latin document such as Arabic, the challenge becomes greater since in addition to the variability of writing, the presence of diacritical points and the high number of ascender and descender characters complicates more the process of the segmentation. To remedy with this complexity and even to make this difficulty an advantage since the focus is on the Arabic language which is semi-cursive in nature, a method based on the Watershed Transform technique is proposed. Tested on «Handwritten Arabic Proximity Datasets» a segmentation rate of 93% for a 95% of matching score is achieved

Removing autocorrelation in spectral optical coherence tomography

    Get PDF
We have developed a new algorithm and configuration for removing the autocorrelation of the object wave in spectral optical coherence tomography. The self-interferogram of the object wave is acquired synchronously with the standard interferogram of the recombined object and reference waves. The former is then subtracted from the latter after Fourier transformation. The algorithm is validated by numerical simulation and by experimental measurement of a USAF target and a feline eye

Research and Development of Feature Extraction from Myanmar Palm Leaf Manuscripts for the Myanmar Character Recognition System

This paper proposed Myanmar palm leaf manuscript handwriting OCR system. Each text area in the Myanmar palm-leaf manuscript is segmented. This segmented character text image is needed to be recognized to transform to Myanmar handwritten characters which express Myanmar’s precious historical and invaluable information. This paper involves two essential steps: preprocessing and feature extraction. The preprocessing is carried out to extract the attractive palm-leaf manuscript region from the Images automatically are taken by the camera and to support the enhanced images for subsequence processes of Myanmar character recognition from Myanmar palm leaves. The one-dimensional segmentation approach is used to crop leaf area in the image which is taken with high resolution. Line count analysis is also done to extract the region for using enough line count. After that, line segmentation is carried out using Object Frequency Histogram along the horizontal lines which can find the best optimal points between the lines. Similarly, the same technique but vertically is used to get each character or smallest group of characters. Totally 18 features are extracted to recognize the Myanmar palm-leaf manuscript characters. Although the experimental results are good enough but some difficulties are still needed to take account related to the connected components.

[EN] This report will cover the development of several graphical tools for ground truth generation in HTR tasks, specifically for layout analysis, line segmentation, and transcription, as well as one ad hoc tool needed for point classification in an implemented line size normalization method. It will show the design process behind the tools, giving an overview of the internal structure through class diagrams. It will also explain the mentioned phases of the HTR with the aim of clarifying each tool context and utility.
