RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE KINEMATICS OF THE TRUNK AND LOWER EXTREMITIES AND BALL VELOCITY DURING THE OVERHAND THROW IN MALE CANOE POLO PLAYERS

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the motion of the trunk and lower extremities and ball velocity during the overhand throw in canoe polo. Fifteen male national canoe polo team players participated in this study. The overhand throwing motion was captured using a three dimensional motion analysis system. Kinematic and temporal parameters in the trunk and lower extremities were measured and analyzed. Results indicated that five variables were associated with variations in ball velocity. Specifically, as ball velocity increased, canoe polo players showed an increased maximal angular velocity in trunk-tilt sideways, upper torso rotation, and right knee flexion. In addition, the right knee flexion range of motion and time to maximum right knee flexion angular velocity increased as ball velocity increased

Study on Microchannel Design and Burst Frequency Detection for Centrifugal Microfluidic System

A centrifugal microfluidic system has been developed in this study, enabling the control and measurement of the burst frequency in order to manipulate the liquid. The radial microfluid chips with different microchannel dimensions were designed for simulation analyses and experimental verifications. The microfluidic flow in the microchannel was analyzed using software CFDRC, providing an accurate result compared with that from experiment. The results show that the design of the overflow microchannel can correctly keep the liquid volume with error as low as 5%. For mercurochrome, the burst frequency has an inverse proportion to the channel width, and the simulation results agree with the experimental results. For oil, however, the experimental and simulation results indicate that the relationship between the burst frequency and channel width is not obvious due to oil properties. Since the simulation approach can provide an accurate prediction of flow behavior in the microchannel, the design of radial microfluid chip and the control of burst frequency can be achieved effectively. A practical application to design the centrifugal microfluidic disc for blood typing test was also carried out in this study. The centrifugal microfluidic system can successfully control the spinning speed to achieve the result of adding reagents in a specific sequence

The Investigation of Hedonic Consumption, Impulsive Consumption and Social Sharing in E-commerce Live-streaming Videos

The use of online live-streaming videos to promote brands and products in e-commerce is “exploding” in China. Whereas, little is known about the mechanism underlying viewers/ audience participating behavior in the rapidly growing online live-streaming videos for commerce phenomenon. Based on the stimulus–organism–response paradigm, this study endeavors to investigate the effects of content and social features (information quality, broadcaster attractiveness and para-social interaction) of on customers cognitive and emotional state (cognitive assimilation and emotional energy) and the subsequently their responses (hedonic consumption, impulsive consumption, and social sharing). 200 valid respondents were collected via cross-sectional online survey websites. The research results provide empirical evidences to support most of our hypotheses, indicating that hedonic consumption and social sharing behavior are determined by emotional energy and cognitive assimilation. These cognitive and emotional states, are influenced by information quality, broadcaster attractiveness, and para-social interaction. Impulsive consumption is only determined by emotional energy

Sonographic Detection of Pseudoaneurysm in Vascular Injury in Emergency Department

A 31-year-old man suffered from a stab wound to the lower extremity. The patient had a hard sign of a vascular injury (a diminished distal pulse) and therefore probably should have undergone operative repair, but refused. One week later, he returned to our emergency department with a painful right thigh swelling. Bedside sonography was used to detect a pseudoaneurysm. Emergency sonography is a fast, non-invasive, and rapid decision-making approach in emergency practice
