    OPE of the stress tensors and surface operators

    We demonstrate that the divergent terms in the OPE of a stress tensor and a surface operator of general shape cannot be constructed only from local geometric data depending only on the shape of the surface. We verify this holographically at d=3 for Wilson line operators or equivalently the twist operator corresponding to computing the entanglement entropy using the Ryu-Takayanagi formula.     On the Symmetry Foundation of Double Soft Theorems

    Double-soft theorems, like its single-soft counterparts, arises from the underlying symmetry principles that constrain the interactions of massless particles. While single soft theorems can be derived in a non-perturbative fashion by employing current algebras, recent attempts of extending such an approach to known double soft theorems has been met with difficulties. In this work, we have traced the difficulty to two inequivalent expansion schemes, depending on whether the soft limit is taken asymmetrically or symmetrically, which we denote as type A and B respectively. We show that soft-behaviour for type A scheme can simply be derived from single soft theorems, and are thus non-preturbatively protected. For type B, the information of the four-point vertex is required to determine the corresponding soft theorems, and thus are in general not protected. This argument can be readily extended to general multi-soft theorems. We also ask whether unitarity can be emergent from locality together with the two kinds of soft theorems, which has not been fully investigated before.Comment: 45 pages, 7 figure

    Predicting Students Performance Based on Their Reading Behaviors

    E-learning systems can support students in the on-line classroom environment by providing different learning materials. However, recent studies find that students may misuse such systems with a variety of strategies. One particular misused strategy, gaming the system, has repeatedly been found to negatively affect the students’ learning results. Unfortunately, methods to quantitatively capture such behavior are poorly developed, making it difficult to predict students learning outcomes. In this work, we tackle this problem based on a study of the 567,193 records of the 71 students’ reading behaviors from two classes in the academic year 2016. We first quantify the extent to which students misused the system and then predict their class performance based on the quantified results. Our results demonstrated that such misbehavior in the E-learning system can be quantified as a probability and then further used as a significant factor to predict students class learning outcomes with high accuracy

    An empirical study of the impact of internet financial reporting on stock prices

    This study examines the economic consequences of internet financial reporting (IFR) in Taiwan. The results show that the stock prices of IFR firms change more quickly than those of the non-FR firms using Akaike’s (1969) Final Prediction Error (FPE) methodology. Second, the results from the event study methodology show that the cumulative abnormal returns of the firms with IFR are significantly higher than those of the firms without IFR. Lastly, the results indicate that firms with a higher degree of information transparency yield a higher abnormal return on theirstock prices

    New expansions of numerical eigenvalues by Wilson’s element

    AbstractThe paper explores new expansions of eigenvalues for −Δu=λρu in S with Dirichlet boundary conditions by Wilson’s element. The expansions indicate that Wilson’s element provides lower bounds of the eigenvalues. By the extrapolation or the splitting extrapolation, the O(h4) convergence rate can be obtained, where h is the maximal boundary length of uniform rectangles. Numerical experiments are carried to verify the theoretical analysis made. It is worth pointing out that these results are new, compared with the recent book, Lin and Lin [Q. Lin, J. Lin, Finite Element Methods; Accuracy and Improvement, Science Press, Beijing, 2006]

    The role of immunonutrients in the prevention of necrotizing enterocolitis in preterm very low birth weight infants

    Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a critical intestinal emergency condition, which mainly occurs in preterm very low birth weight (PVLBW) infants. Despite remarkable advances in the care of PVLBW infants, with considerable improvement of the survival rate in recent decades, the incidence of NEC and NEC-related mortality have not declined accordingly. The fast progression from nonspecific signs to extensive necrosis also makes primary prevention the first priority. Recently, increasing evidence has indicated the important role of several nutrients in primary prevention of NEC. Therefore, the aim of this review is to summarize some potential immunomodulatory nutrients in the prevention of NEC, including bovine colostrum, probiotics, prebiotics (e.g., human milk oligosaccharides), long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, and amino acids (glutamine, cysteine and N-acetylcysteine, l-arginine and l-citrulline). Based on current research evidence, probiotics are the most documented effective method to prevent NEC, while others still require further investigation in animal studies and clinical randomized controlled trials
