Variation Tendency of TC Activity in the NWP
AbstractBased on the tropical cyclone dataset during 1945∼2013 by Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), this study has systematically analyzed the long-term variation of tropical cyclone (TC) in the Northwest Pacific (NWP). People recorded annual variations of Typhoon's maximal wind speed, power dissipation index (PDI) and frequency in this period. The results showed that these meteorology parameters display a rising trend, implying that the TC activity presents a feature of non-stationary stochastic processes. Geographically, we give spatial distribution of their historical maximal wind speed by combining database with parametric TC model. The results indicate that spatial distribution of TC intensity in the NWP is uneven and the sea area east to the Philippines is the most severely affected region by typhoon
A Novel Methodology for Identifying Associations and Correlations Between Household Appliance Behaviour in Residential Buildings
AbstractThis paper reports the development of a new methodology for examining all associations and correlations between various household appliance behaviour, thereby discovering hidden patterns of occupant behaviour in residential buildings. The method is based on a basic data mining technique (association rule mining). Its strength lies in its ability to analyse both continuous and nominal data, and examine all associations and correlations automatically. To demonstrate its applicability, it was applied to the measured end-use electricity data in a selected residential building with comprehensive household appliances in Japan. The results show that both direct and indirect associations between occupant behaviour were discovered. The results obtained could provide a deep insight into the interaction between different behaviour, offer detailed recommendations for reducing building energy consumption, and enable the best input parameters of occupant behaviour prediction models to be identified
Microwave Catalytic Conversion of SO2 and NOx over Cu/zeolite
Abstract: Microwave catalytic technology is a promising technology for flue gas treatment. Cu/zeolite was used as catalyst for microwave catalytic desulfurization and denitrification and for microwave catalytic reduction of SO2 and NOx with ammonium bicarbonate (NH4HCO3) as a reducing agent. Microwave catalytic desulfurization and denitrification efficiency achieved 76.1 and 81.8% separately. The reaction efficiency of microwave catalytic reduction of SO2 and NOx could be up to 99.8 and 92.8% respectively. The physico-chemical properties of Cu/zeolite catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller measurements (BET), X-ray photoelectron spectrum analysis (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The XPS results indicate that sulfide (SO42-), element sulfur (S0) and NH4+ species exist on the catalyst surface after the reaction. Microwave catalytic SO2 and NOx removal follows Langmuir — Hinshelwood(L-H) kinetics. Weighted norm inequalities, off-diagonal estimates and elliptic operators. Part IV: Riesz transforms on manifolds and weights
This is the fourth article of our series. Here, we study weighted norm
inequalities for the Riesz transform of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on
Riemannian manifolds and of subelliptic sum of squares on Lie groups, under the
doubling volume property and Gaussian upper bounds.Comment: 12 pages. Fourth of 4 papers. Important revision: improvement of main
result by eliminating use of Poincar\'e inequalities replaced by the weaker
Gaussian keat kernel bound

Nonperturbative Corrections to One Gluon Exchange Quark Potentials
The leading nonperturbative QCD corrections to the one gluon exchange
quark-quark, quark-antiquark and pair-excitation potentials are
derived by using a covariant form of nonlocal two-quark and two-gluon vacuum
expectation values. Our numerical calculation indicates that the correction of
quark and gluon condensates to the quark-antiquark potential improves the heavy
quarkonium spectra to some degree.Comment: LaTex, 16 pages, three figures, to appear in Nucl. Phys.
A Statistical Study on Photospheric Magnetic Nonpotentiality of Active Regions and Its Relationship with Flares during Solar Cycles 22-23
A statistical study is carried out on the photospheric magnetic
nonpotentiality in solar active regions and its relationship with associated
flares. We select 2173 photospheric vector magnetograms from 1106 active
regions observed by the Solar Magnetic Field Telescope at Huairou Solar
Observing Station, National Astronomical Observatories of China, in the period
of 1988-2008, which covers most of the 22nd and 23rd solar cycles. We have
computed the mean planar magnetic shear angle (\bar{\Delta\phi}), mean shear
angle of the vector magnetic field (\bar{\Delta\psi}), mean absolute vertical
current density (\bar{|J_{z}|}), mean absolute current helicity density
(\bar{|h_{c}|}), absolute twist parameter (|\alpha_{av}|), mean free magnetic
energy density (\bar{\rho_{free}}), effective distance of the longitudinal
magnetic field (d_{E}), and modified effective distance (d_{Em}) of each
photospheric vector magnetogram. Parameters \bar{|h_{c}|}, \bar{\rho_{free}},
and d_{Em} show higher correlation with the evolution of the solar cycle. The
Pearson linear correlation coefficients between these three parameters and the
yearly mean sunspot number are all larger than 0.59. Parameters
\bar{\Delta\phi}, \bar{\Delta\psi}, \bar{|J_{z}|}, |\alpha_{av}|, and d_{E}
show only weak correlations with the solar cycle, though the nonpotentiality
and the complexity of active regions are greater in the activity maximum
periods than in the minimum periods. All of the eight parameters show positive
correlations with the flare productivity of active regions, and the combination
of different nonpotentiality parameters may be effective in predicting the
flaring probability of active regions.Comment: 20 pages, 5 figures, 4 tables, accepted for publication in Solar

Ambiversion of X(3872)
An analysis including most recent Belle data on X(3872) is performed, using
coupled channel Flatt\'e formula. A third sheet pole close to but
\textit{below} threshold is found, besides the bound state/virtual
state pole discussed in previous literature. The co-existence of two poles near
the threshold indicates that the X(3872) may be of ordinary state origin, distorted by strong coupled channel effects. The
latter manifests itself as a molecular bound state (or a virtual state).Comment: Slightly revised version accepted for publication in Physics Letter
