    Comunicação científica e gestão do conhecimento: enlaces conceituais para a fundamentação da gestão do conhecimento científico no contexto de universidades

    This article, product of theoretical research, has as goal to signal the theoretical similarities between the approaches to knowledge management and to scientific communication. The clarification of the convergence points between such approaches is justified by the necessity of conceptual foundation for the studies on scientific knowledge management in the academic environment, since the specialized literature until the present moment seems not to consider the specificities within this context, or even the characteristics of the production and the communication of this type of knowledge. These reflections consider initially, the communication and knowledge management from the point of view of the enterprise organizations, preparing a theoretical model that illustrates the relationship between communication, culture and knowledge management. In a second moment, on the basis of theoretical reflections, it directs the discussion to the academic environment, considering, in the model, the scientific communication, the scientific culture and the knowledge management. After that, it explores the similarities between knowledge management and the scientific communication, based on a comparison between the processes involved in both approaches. The conclusion points out to the processes of scientific communication as an essential and indispensable layer to the management of scientific knowledge within the university context

    Este artigo explora a questão do conhecimento tácito no contexto da ciência. Destaca inicialmente, com base na literatura, a dimensão tácita da produção e do conhecimento científico. Por meio de entrevistas buscou obter a percepção de pesquisadores docentes de diferentes áreas do conhecimento acerca dos processos de aquisição do conhecimento e de experiência, do compartilhamento do conhecimento científico, sobre a explicitação do conhecimento científico, o papel das tecnologias no compartilhamento do conhecimento científico e outros. Conclui com a elaboração de uma sistematização sobre a dinâmica do conhecimento científico tácito e explícito na pesquisa e na comunicação científica. _______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis article explores the question of the tacit knowledge in the context of science. It highlights, initially, the tacit dimension of the production and the scientific knowledge. Through of interviews it searched to get the perception of researchers from different subject areas about: processes of acquisition of the knowledge and experience, sharing of the scientific knowledge, scientific knowledge explicitation, the technologies in the sharing of the scientific knowledge and others.     Este artigo relata a iniciativa da Embrapa na implementação de suas estratégias de acesso aberto à informação científica. O texto apresenta brevemente o ambiente em que a iniciativa foi desenvolvida assim como características do projeto, de sua implementação e os resultados alcançados. Além disso, relata peculiaridades do funcionamento dos serviços de informação da iniciativa, como seu povoamento, gestão de direitos autorais e equipe envolvida. Conclui refletindo acerca da necessidade de harmonização entre o potencial do acesso aberto e a realidade institucional. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis paper describes the Embrapa initiative in implementing its open access strategies regarding scientific information. It briefly presents the environment in which the initiative was developed and the characteristics of the project, of its implementation and the results attained.     Este artigo, produto de pesquisa teórica, tem por objetivo sinalizar as similaridades teóricas entre a abordagem da gestão do conhecimento e a da comunicação científica. O esclarecimento dos pontos de convergência entre uma e outra abordagem justifica-se pela necessidade de fundamentação conceitual para os estudos de gestão do conhecimento científico no ambiente acadêmico, visto que a literatura existente, até o presente momento, não considera as especificidades desse contexto, nem tão pouco a natureza da produção e da comunicação desse tipo de conhecimento. As reflexões consideram, inicialmente, a comunicação e gestão do conhecimento do ponto de vista das organizações empresariais, elaborando modelo teórico que ilustra a relação entre comunicação, cultura e gestão do conhecimento. Em um segundo momento, com base em reflexões teóricas, direciona a discussão para o ambiente acadêmico, considerando no modelo a comunicação científica, a cultura científica e a gestão do conhecimento nesse meio. Em seguida, explora as similaridades entre gestão do conhecimento e a comunicação científica, com base na comparação entre os processos de cada uma das abordagens.     Antigenicity of envelope protein complexes of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis and insights into T cell responses of infected animals

    Paratuberculosis is a disease caused by Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP). This is a chronic enteric disease of ruminant animals with clinical signs taking from 2 to 5 years for manifestation. Current diagnostic tests are effective in identifying animals in later stages of infection; however, sensitivity among animals in the early stages of infection is low. In addition, currently available vaccines in the US fail to prevent infection of animals. Transitions in host immunity to MAP leading to clinical disease are poorly understood and their comprehension could lead to more targeted approaches for vaccine and diagnostic development. The objective of the first study was to identify protein complexes in the envelope of MAP to gain insight into pathogenic mechanisms as well as to identify antigenic proteins. Seven protein complexes were identified in the envelope of MAP and these complexes were fragmented into individual proteins with potential as diagnostic and vaccine targets. The second objective in this thesis was to study two crucial molecules in T cell signaling investigated in cows with subclinical and clinical disease. ZAP-70 (zeta-chain associated protein of 70 kDa) is involved in proximal T cell receptor signaling and its activation is necessary for T cell effector function. The second molecule studied was CTLA-4 (cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4), regarded as one of the major negative regulators of T cell function. All MAP infected animals demonstrated a significant reduction in expression of ZAP-70 among CD4+ T cells whereas only animals of subclinical status had a significant upregulation of CTLA-4 in the CD4+ T cell population. Both studies contribute novel and important findings to the field of paratuberculosis. Protein interactions within the envelope of MAP were discovered along with the identification of several protein candidates for vaccine and diagnostic development. In addition, immune alterations that occur with infection and progression of disease were also demonstrated

A investigação foi aplicada ao caso concreto do Jornal Online da Universidade de Aveiro, com o objetivo de contribuir para fundamentar a tomada de decisão relativa à gestão (manutenção e/ou destaque) de notícias por parte dos gestores do referido jornal.This paper summarizes the main results of a research project which main goal was the design, development and evaluation of a web application for monitoring the buzz of news and other contents published in social networks (Facebook and Twitter) by the online news portal of the University of Aveiro.     O estudo procura investigar a relação entre os conceitos de comportamento informacional e competência informacional para aplicação no contexto da comunicação científica. Para isso, procura demonstrar que seus fundamentos podem estar contidos em alguns pontos da definição de habilidades informacionais. Como primeiro resultado da pesquisa, é mostrado um quadro associativo entre os dois conceitos. Concluiu-se que, a comparação é possível através das relações entre as descrições de cada ação entre os dois conceitos. _________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis paper aims to investigate the relationship between the concepts of information behavior and information literacy for application in the context of scientific communication. For this reason, seeks to demonstrate that their foundations may be contained in some points of the definition of informational skills. As a first result of the search, it offered a voluntary framework between the two concepts. It was concluded that the comparison is possible through relations between the descriptions of each action between the two concepts
