End-to-End Differentiable Learning to HDR Image Synthesis for Multi-exposure Images
Recently, high dynamic range (HDR) image reconstruction based on the multiple
exposure stack from a given single exposure utilizes a deep learning framework
to generate high-quality HDR images. These conventional networks focus on the
exposure transfer task to reconstruct the multi-exposure stack. Therefore, they
often fail to fuse the multi-exposure stack into a perceptually pleasant HDR
image as the inversion artifacts occur. We tackle the problem in stack
reconstruction-based methods by proposing a novel framework with a fully
differentiable high dynamic range imaging (HDRI) process. By explicitly using
the loss, which compares the network's output with the ground truth HDR image,
our framework enables a neural network that generates the multiple exposure
stack for HDRI to train stably. In other words, our differentiable HDR
synthesis layer helps the deep neural network to train to create multi-exposure
stacks while reflecting the precise correlations between multi-exposure images
in the HDRI process. In addition, our network uses the image decomposition and
the recursive process to facilitate the exposure transfer task and to
adaptively respond to recursion frequency. The experimental results show that
the proposed network outperforms the state-of-the-art quantitative and
qualitative results in terms of both the exposure transfer tasks and the whole
HDRI process
Noxious gas detection using carbon nanotubes with Pd nanoparticles
Noxious gas sensors were fabricated using carbon nanotubes [CNTs] with palladium nanoparticles [Pd NPs]. An increase in the resistance was observed under ammonia for both CNTs and CNT-Pd sensors. Under carbon monoxide [CO], the two sensors exhibited different behaviors: for CNT sensors, their resistance decreased slightly with CO exposure, whereas CNT-Pd sensors showed an increase in resistance. The sensing properties and effect of Pd NPs were demonstrated, and CNT-Pd sensors with good repeatability and fast responses over a range of concentrations may be used as a simple and effective noxious gas sensor at room temperature

Improvement in the hygroscopicity of inorganic binder through a dual coating process
The use of an anti-absorbent is proposed in this work to reduce the hygroscopicity of the inorganic binder in the casting mold, in which the anti-absorbent is coated on the mold prepared with an inorganic binder. Three types of polymers were used to select material with optimal water resistance. Polystyrene (PS) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were used as a water-insoluble polymer and water-soluble polymer, respectively. In addition, polyurethane (PU) prepolymer has intermediate properties between PS and PVA. PVA and PU prepolymer were used for comparative testing with PS. For this testing process, the prepared green body was dipped into a solution of inorganic binder precursor mixed with tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS, SiO2 precursor) and sodium methoxide (NaOMe, Na2O precursor), and then dipped into a solution of coating reagent after a drying process. Thus, these series of coating processes in a green body is called a dual coating process. Finally the sample was heat-treated at 1000 °C to generate a glass phase by an organic–inorganic conversion process. In the sample prepared with PS, the highest contact angle and a high firing strength were exhibited, independent of polymer concentration, while the sample coated with PVA showed lower green and firing strengths. When prepolymer, PU, was applied, the green strength was remarkably improved, showing lower firing strength compared with that of PS. The green and firing strengths were optimized through the dual coating process with PS. Moreover, the moisture-proof effect of the dual coating process was verified through the moisture steam test
ArrayXPath II: mapping and visualizing microarray gene-expression data with biomedical ontologies and integrated biological pathway resources using Scalable Vector Graphics
Summary: ArrayXPath () is a web-based service for mapping and visualizing microarray gene-expression data with integrated biological pathway resources using Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). Deciphering the crosstalk among pathways and integrating biomedical ontologies and knowledge bases may help biological interpretation of microarray data. ArrayXPath is empowered by integrating gene-pathway, disease-pathway, drug-pathway and pathway–pathway correlations with integrated Gene Ontology, Medical Subject Headings and OMIM Morbid Map-based annotations. We applied Fisher's exact test and relative risk to evaluate the statistical significance of the correlations. ArrayXPath produces Javascript-enabled SVGs for web-enabled interactive visualization of gene-expression profiles integrated with gene-pathway-disease interactions enriched by biomedical ontologies
Effect of Total Leaf Numbers on the Growth and Fruit Quality in Muskmelon Plants Showing Leaf Yellowing Symptoms
This study was conducted to evaluate the influence of total leaf
numbers on the growth, net formation of fruits, and occurrence of
leaf yellowing symptoms (LYS) in muskmelon plants. The growth
and development of LYS on muskmelon plants having 25, 30, and
35 fully expanded leaves on the vine were compared to those of the
control plant having 20 leaves. Plant height, leaf area, root fresh
weight, and root dry weight increased as the number of leaves
increased. Plants with 35 leaves showed the greatest plant growth.
Net photosynthetic rate was positively related to increasing leaf
numbers with plants having over 25 leaves showing the greatest
photosynthetic rates. On the other hand, there were no significant
differences in chlorophyll content and root activity among treatments
with different leaf numbers. The ratio of LYS infection was also
greater in plants having 25-30 leaves, than in those having leaf
numbers. Plants with different leaf numbers and LYS infection
showed a variation in fruit quality, although LYS did not
significantly affect fruit quality except net index. The plants having
20 leaves that showed LYS developed fruits that had significantly
smaller flesh (mesocarp) thickness than, the plants having greater numbers of leaves. The higher sugar contents of fruits were found
in the plants having 35 leaves whether they showed LYS (12.1°Bx)
or not (12.5°Bx). Therefore, leaving more than 25 healthy leaves per
plant was recommended for minimizing damage from LYS.OAIID:oai:osos.snu.ac.kr:snu2015-01/104/0000027607/11ADJUST_YN:NEMP_ID:A075898DEPT_CD:517CITE_RATE:0FILENAME:(이희주)effect_of_total_leaf_numbers_on_the_growth_and_fruit_quality_in_muskmelon_plants_showing_leaf_yell··.pdfDEPT_NM:식물생산과학부CONFIRM:
Improved performance of polymer light-emitting diodes with nanocomposites
The characteristics of a hybrid polymer light-emitting diode (HPLED) with an active layer of poly [2-methoxy,5-(2-ethylhexoxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] blended with Au-capped TiO(2) nanocomposites are reported. Both the increased current in the active layer and low turn-on voltage were attributed to incorporation of Au-capped TiO(2) in the electroluminescent polymer. The maximal brightness of 11 630 cd/m(2) was observed in HPLED with a 1:1 ratio of Au-capped TiO(2). The enhanced performance was attributed to the roughness assisted charge transport induced by the Au-capped TiO(2) nanocomposites in the active polymer.open111
