The non-existence and existence of positive solutions for the generalized predator-prey biological model for two species of animals Ī”u + ug(u,v) = 0 in Ī©, Ī”v + vh(u,v) = 0 in Ī©, u = v = 0 on āˆ‚Ī©, is investigated in this paper. The techniques used in this paper are from elliptic theory, the upper-lower solution method, the maximum principles and spectrum estimates. The arguments also rely on detailed properties of solutions to logistic equations. Ā© 2009 Academic Publications

Reliability Verification of the Performance Evaluation of Multiphase Pump

The crude oil in an oil well exists in various phases such as gas, seawater, and sand, as well as oil. Therefore, a phase separator is needed at the front of a single-phase pump for pressurization and transfer. On the other hand, the application of a multiphase pump can provide such advantages as simplification of the equipment structure and cost savings, because there is no need for a phase separation process. Therefore, the crude oil transfer method using a multiphase pump is being applied to recently developed oil wells. Due to this increase in demand, technical demands for the development of multiphase pumps are sharply increasing, but the progress of research into related technologies is insufficient, due to the nature of multiphase pumps that require high levels of skills. This study was conducted to verify the reliability of pump performance evaluation using numerical analysis, which is the basis of the development of a multiphase pump. For this study, a model was designed by selecting the specifications of the pump under study. The performance of the designed model was evaluated through numerical analysis and experiment, and the results of the performance evaluation were compared to verify the reliability of the result using numerical analysis

Heterogeneous amplification of ERBB2 in primary lesions is responsible for the discordant ERBB2 status of primary and metastatic lesions in gastric carcinoma

Aims: To determine the extent of HER2 homogeneity/heterogeneity in primary versus metastatic gastric carcinoma ( GC). Materials and results: The human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 ( HER2) status in primary and metastatic lesions was evaluated by immunohistochemistry ( IHC) and fluorescence in-situ hybridization ( FISH). Four separate cohorts consisting of primary GC alone or primary GC paired with metastatic lesions were examined. In the FISH analysis of 325 primary GCs, eight cases ( 2.5%) showed amplification with a heterogeneous pattern, whereas 27 cases ( 8.3%) showed amplification with a homogeneous pattern, and in this cohort the discordant: concordant FISH ratio based on examination of three different areas in each primary lesion was 0.30: 1. FISH testing using 250 paired primary and metastatic lesions revealed seven cases (2.8%) with discordant amplification. In metastatic disease positive conversion occurred in six cases (2.4%), whereas negative conversion happened in one case (0.4%). The discordant: concordant ratio of primary versus secondary lesions was 0.23: 1. When the seven discordant cases were re-evaluated using whole sections of primary GCs, six showed a heterogeneous pattern of amplification. Conclusions: These findings suggest that the discordant HER2 amplification observed in metastatic lesions is explained substantially by heterogeneity within primary tumours

Avoid Contamination in Soybean (Glycine Max, L. [Merrill]) Microspores Culture

Microspore culture is done to obtain pure strains. The purpose of soybean microspore culture to obtainquality seeds. Two important step that must be done is isolation of microspores in starvation medium andsubculture into embryogenesis medium. Many factors contributing to the contamination of soybeanmicrospore culture. Contamination in the B medium temperature 34 0C is more common than 4 0C. Vulnerableto contamination because of embryogenesis medium rich in nutrients. Bacterial contaminationcan be caused by internal contaminants such as shape of the anther. Other internal contaminants thatcause diseases such as fungi Colletotrichum truncatum and Phakopsora pachyrhizi. Antagonistic fungiwhich contaminate cultures that Trichoderma spp., Alternaria spp., Fusarium spp. Handling of contaminationis done by selecting the appropriate methods in order to remain viable microspores. Sterilization soybeanflower buds with 20% Tween for 10 minutes and then rinsed with distilled water. Moreover sterilizationwith 4% Hg Cl2 and 10% NaOCl for 10 minutes, rinsed with distilled water times, followed by 96%alcohol for 1 minute, can press up to 70% contamination
