Participative/Rural Diagnostic Applied on the Hick Poultry and Pig Breeding in Peri-Urban Regions of Senador Canedo (GO)
The objective was to evaluate the breeding practices of hick poultry and pig and the perceptions of the environmental impacts by the small farms producers in properties in the peri-urban region of Senador Canedo (GO), by the participative rural diagnostic. It was applied a semi-structured questionnaire and interview in 67 properties. The hick poultry group was composed of 7,266 animals, bred freely, without appropriated techniques and facilities. The amount of pigs was 2,589, 93,4% of them bred in semi-extensive or extensive system. 72,8% of them were commercialized. The hick poultry and pig breeding generates incomes and provides animal protein for the involved families, although the low technical level, poor concern about zootechnical characteristics and the lack of public policies are aspects to be improved

Previous issue date: 2009-07-28As the nutritional demand of pigs in the nursery phase is high, it is necessary
the diets are based on ingredients palatable high
availability of nutrients. Accordingly, the floating diets may
meet the physiological demands of piglets, since the extrusion breaks the
physical barriers that surround the granules of ingredients, improving their
palatability and digestibility. This work aimed to evaluate the digestibility
the nutrients and extruded with or without the addition of
flavoring additives for piglets in the nursery phase, and the performance
animals and economic viability of these rations. The experiments were
performed at the Department of Aquaculture Department of Animal Production
Veterinary School of UFG. In the digestibility experiment were
determined the digestibility of nutrients. The
experimental period lasted 26 days, divided into two periods of 13 days,
being five days for animals to adapt to cages and regularization of
diets in the gastrointestinal tract of animals, three days to stabilize the
metabolic consumption and five days for collection of feces and urine.
To this end, we used 12 hybrid animals, castrated male per period.
The design was a randomized block design, with four treatments and
six replicates. The treatments were: T1 - reference diet mash, the
corn and soybean meal supplemented with minerals and vitamins, so
to meet the requirements of animals; T2 - T1 feed submitted to extrusion, T3 --
T2 extruded food additives and flavorings T4 - T3 with feed moisture. In
performance experiment we used the randomized block design with
four treatments and six replications. The treatments were the same
the digestibility trial. In this test we used 48 hybrid animals
commercial, 24 barrows and 24 females, to evaluate the
performance of animals through the variables of weight gain, consumption of
and feed conversion. The results were analyzed by analysis
variance (ANOVA) and submitted to the Student t test. Energy values
showed gross differences among the treatments. In
digestibility of dry matter, ash, coefficient
metabolization of dry matter, crude protein and gross energy did not occur
statistical difference, as well as the balance of N in the treatments.
The digestibility of crude protein and ether extract differed
significantly to the treatment with extruded flavoring additives and 5%
moisture. The results related to the availability of Ca in the diets differed
between treatments with floating diets without additives, that
The lowest mineral excreted. Performance, not
observed differences in the variables initial weight, final weight, daily weight gain
and total, and total feed intake. While, for the variable
food (p <0.05), statistical difference, with the best conversion
given was the group of animals that received extruded without
additives. The results showed that the physical form of ration, both interfered
the acceptability and palatability of the diet. Treatment extruded without
additives had a better availability of nutrients, probably due
the thermal processing of feed during extrusion when compared with the
treatment T1. The average cost of feed / kg were R 0,49; 0,39;
Entretanto, o tempo de recuperação não ocasionou a completa reabilitação fisiológica frente ao desafio imposto.<br>The present study evaluated the hematological and biochemical parameters of adult tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) under the influence of the physiological stress factor in animals submitted to air exposure during fattening in raceway system. Blood cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), leukogram, differencial leukocyte count, platelet, glucose, total protein, cholesterol, triglycerides and electrolytes (calcium, chloride, sodium and potassium) were analyzed. The results showed a uniform distribution for red blood cells, hematocrit, hemoglobin, secondary Wintrobe indices, total protein, glucose, cholesterol, and serum ions, indicated by a relatively low variation coefficient. There was positive correlation only for total white blood cells, organic defense cells (neutrophils and lymphocytes), glucose, cholesterol, sodium and calcium. As for the leukocytes (WBC), as the animals were exposed to aeration, the number of leukocytes gradually decreased (leukopenia), simultaneously occurring neutrophilia and lymphopenia. The glycemic index was a good indicator of physiological stress due to hyperglycemia (82.0±20.88mg/dL) demonstrated in the treatments. The air exposure constituted an imbalance factor at the ion homeostasis and at the endogenous cholesterol synthesis. Besides, the recovery time did not result in the complete physiological rehabilitation face the imposed challenge

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of the use of diets with different levels of inclusion of water for pigs in the weaning phase by digestibility and performance parameters. We established three treatments, corresponding to (T1) basal dry and mash diet, (T2) basal diet with the inclusion of water in the ratio of 1:1 (1kg water for 1kg feed) and (T3) ratio of 2:1 (2kg water for 1kg feed). In the digestibility experiment, 12 piglets with average weight of 19.09 ± 2.88 kg were used. The experimental design for the metabolism trial was completely randomized with three treatments and four replications. In the performance evaluation, 36 crossbred commercial line pigs, 18 females and 18 castrated males, with initial weight of 12.32 ± 1.4 kg, were used in a completely randomized design with three treatments and six replications, totaling 18 experimental units, with each replicate consisting of a castrated male and one female. Diets with different levels of inclusion of water did not influence (P> 0.05) (P value) animal performance and digestibility; however, the rate of metabolization of crude protein was higher (P <0.05) for a 1:1 water / feed ration in the control group
