IDENTIFICACIÓN, EN LAS COMPETENCIAS DE LA TEORÍA DE LA MENTE, DE LA INFLUENCIA DEL COCIENTE INTELECTUAL EN UN GRUPO DE ESQUIZOFRÉNICOS
Schizophrenia sufferers may have Theory of Mind (ToM) deficits. These deficits are not as severe as those shown by people with other disorders such as autism, because schizophrenic patients can solve simple ToM tests using their Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and general problemsolving skills. Our aim was to study ToM by asking a group of schizophrenics to perform a mental verbs task. We then identified the categories into which the mental verbs were grouped and their use profile, and assessed the influence of intelligence quotient. We observed that those with a higher IQ had lower ToM deficits. Subjects with average IQs grouped the mental activities quite well and those with low IQ performed the task poorly as a result of the combined effects of schizophrenia processes and low IQ.En la esquizofrenia pueden aparecer dificultades en Teoría de la Mente (TM). Tales déficits son menores que los que se manifiestan en otros trastornos puesto que estos pacientes resuelven pruebas sencillas de TM utilizando su Cociente Intelectual (CI) y habilidades generales de solución de problemas.Nuestro objetivo sería estudiar la TM, utilizando una tarea de verbos mentales en un grupo de esquizofrénicos. Así, se identificarán las categorías en las que se agrupan los verbos mentales, su perfil de uso y, se examinará la influencia del cociente intelectual. En esta investigación se observa una compensación de los déficits en TM en función del CI. Los sujetos con CI medio organizan mejor las actividades mentales y los de CI inferior presentan un efecto acumulativo de los procesos de la esquizofrenia y del CI que se refleja en una peor realización de la tarea de verbos mentales
Use of low-cost daylighting system: Custom design and application consequences in an office environment
Nowadays, many working environments are located within facilities that are not visually connected with the exterior. This is due to the new architectural paradigms as regards the design, based on the possibility to substitute natural light for artificial lighting even in daytime. Accordingly, the need of reducing energy costs and the user's wish to optimize lighting and visual comfort levels raises the option of innovative natural lighting systems implementation. For a luminous retrofitting case, located in Mendoza, Argentina, a specific methodology used determined that the more adequate natural lighting strategy would be redirecting direct sunlight, working on the reflected light design. The methodology proposed is formed by an analysis of the initial situation, conditions modelization and design resolving proposals, through luminous evaluation, real and virtual scale model construction, and performance evaluation using heliodon and simulation software. This work points to use natural lighting to reduce energy consumption and get better luminous ambient through the application of a low-cost daylighting system. In the mentioned case, strategies of redirection of the solar component capable of optimizing indoor lighting levels up to a 40% were applied.Fil: Ferron, Leandro Martin. Ferromagnetic proximity effect in a-Co_xSi_(1-x)/Nb bilayers: Role of magnetic disorder and interface transparency
The superconducting and magnetic properties of a-Co_(x)Si_(1−x) /Nb bilayers have been studied as a function of Co content in order to analyze the superconducting/ferromagnetic proximity effect in a system with strong disorder in the magnetic layers. As Co atoms become more diluted, the magnetization of the amorphous a-CoxSi1−x alloy decreases gradually, whereas their resistivity increases and enters in a weak localization regime. The superconducting transition temperatures of the a-Co_(x)Si_(1−x) /Nb bilayers follow a decreasing trend as Co content is reduced, reaching the lowest value at the boundary between the ferromagnetic-nonmagnetic amorphous phases. Exploring the excess mortality due to depressive symptoms in a community-based sample: The role of Alzheimer's Disease
BACKGROUND: Depression has been associated with increased risk of death. However, there is lack of studies exploring such relationship in the context of dementia. Given the high prevalence of both depression and Alzheimer's Disease (AD), investigating their temporal association with mortality is of public health relevance. METHODS: Longitudinal data from the WHICAP study were analyzed (1958 individuals aged ≥65 years). Depressive symptoms were assessed with the 10-item Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D). Respondents were identified as having AD if they satisfied the criteria of the National Institute on Aging-Alzheimer's Association workgroups on diagnostic guidelines for Alzheimer's disease. Cox regressions analyses were performed to determine the association between depressive symptoms and risk of all-cause mortality using the overall sample, and by AD status. RESULTS: Depressive symptoms were significantly associated with higher mortality risk after adjusting for all potential covariates in the overall sample (HR=1.22; 95% CI=1.02, 1.46) and in individuals with incident AD (HR=1.88; 95% CI=1.12, 3.18). LIMITATIONS: The CES-D does not measure clinical depression but depressive symptomatology. Since those who were exposed to known risk factors for mortality are likely to die prematurely, our results may have been skewed to the individuals with longer survival. CONCLUSIONS: Strategies focusing on prevention and early treatment of depression in the elderly may have a beneficial effect not only on patient quality of life and disability, but may also increase survival in the context of AD
Spatial distribution of Cydia fagiglandana (Zeller) in an exploited holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) forest
Cydia fagiglandana (Zeller) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) is a carpophagous insect which affects the quality and
viability of the fruits of beech, oak and chestnut trees. The majority of the works on this species in holm oak woods
dealt with assessing its damages. No investigations have yet been performed on the spatial distribution of this pest,
although this element is one of the key features to take in account in order to develop proper integrated management
programs. The present study, performed during a four years period in an exploited holm oak forest area in Southern
Spain, investigated the spatial distribution of C. fagiglandana integrating classic methods based on dispersion rates
and distribution fitting together with the elaboration of population density maps based on GIS. Our results showed
that the infestation rate progressively decreased from 0.339 in 2001 to 0.102 in 2004. Density maps for C. fagiglandana
also show an heterogeneous and aggregated distribution of this insect and a spatio-temporal stability in this area. It is
concluded that during the four years of the study inter-specific competition with the weevil Curculio elephas was the
factor that most affected the spatial distribution of C. fagiglandana in the experimental plot

Se presenta el diseño de un sistema de acondicionamiento térmico-lumínico pasivo, desarrollado con el objetivo de transportar luz natural al interior de espacios profundos (hasta 5 metros), al tiempo que permite la ventilación de estos ambientes. El dispositivo consiste en un núcleo aluminizado contenido dentro de un cilindro de ventilación. El sistema se diseño basado en el uso exclusivo de tecnologías y materiales disponibles en la provincia de Mendoza, previendo que el medio industrial pueda asimilar la transferencia sin inversión de capital extraordinario. Se analizaron comparativamente los costos de producción y el rendimiento lumínico respecto de otros productos disponibles en el mercado.We present the design of a termal-lighting conditioning system, developed with the objective of transporting natural light into deep spaces (up to 5 meters), while allowing the ventilation of these environments. The device consists in a aluminizated core contained into a ventilation cylinder. The system was designed based on the exclusive use of technologies and materials available in the province of Mendoza, with the idea that the industrial environment can assimilate the transfer without a extraordinary capital investment.
