Multivariate texture discrimination based on geodesics to class centroids on a generalized Gaussian Manifold

A texture discrimination scheme is proposed wherein probability distributions are deployed on a probabilistic manifold for modeling the wavelet statistics of images. We consider the Rao geodesic distance (GD) to the class centroid for texture discrimination in various classification experiments. We compare the performance of GD to class centroid with the Euclidean distance in a similar context, both in terms of accuracy and computational complexity. Also, we compare our proposed classification scheme with the k-nearest neighbor algorithm. Univariate and multivariate Gaussian and Laplace distributions, as well as generalized Gaussian distributions with variable shape parameter are each evaluated as a statistical model for the wavelet coefficients. The GD to the centroid outperforms the Euclidean distance and yields superior discrimination compared to the k-nearest neighbor approach

This thesis entitled ‘Laine Morris’ Neurotic Anxiety Over Debbie’s Death In Stiles White’s Film Ouija (2014)’ is aimed at finding Neurotic Anxiety of Laine Morris as the main character after Debbie’s death. In conducting the research, descriptive qualitative method is used to find neurotic anxiety of the main character. Two approaches are applied to analyze the data, they are structural approach and psychological approach. Structural approach is used to analyze structural elements such as plot, general descriptions of the main character, conflict experiences by the main character, and setting described in the story of the film. Then, the psychological approach is used to analyze the neurotic anxiety of the main character. By using the structural approach it is found that Laine Morris as the main character is a person with her ego, who is anxious, care, sensitive, enthusiastic and curious. As the main character, she also experiences external and internal conflicts. The external conflicts experienced by Laine Morris are her conflict againsts Sarah (her sister), Trevor (her boyfriend) and also Paulina (Doris Zander’s sister). The internal conflict experienced by Laine Morris when she always curious about anything after Debbie’s death. She also has an anxiety towards people around her after she played an Ouija board with them. The setting in this Ouija film by Stiles White is divided into three; there are setting of time, setting of place and setting of social. The setting of time; in the morning and also at night. The setting of place; in the Debbie’s house, Morris’ family house, and also Mental hospital. The setting of social in the film is middle class society, Laine Morris and her friends are from middle class society; It can be proved that their parents are the business workers. It also can be seen from their building house. What clothes that Laine Morris and her friends used during school, the place where they’re hanging out together showed that they’re from middle class society. Laine morris is being an anxious, care to much, sensitive, enthusiastic, and curious person because of her neurotic anxiety. Her neurotic anxiety was definitely change her condition. Because of her condition she often has a conflict with people around her. Her conflict with Trevor, Sarah and Paulina are the reasons why she finally has neurotic anxiety. Besides conflict with some people above, she also has conflict with herself. She feels uncomfortable, afraid and also anxious with her condition after Debbie’s death

What is the simplest effective approach to hot QCD thermodynamics?

The dimensionally reduced action is believed to provide for a theoretically consistent and numerically precise effective description of the thermodynamics of the quark-gluon plasma, once the temperature is above a few hundred MeV. Although dramatically simpler than the original QCD it is, however, still a strongly interacting, confining theory. In this talk I speculate on whether there could exist a further simplified recipe within that theory, for physically relevant temperatures, which would already lead to a phenomenologically satisfactory description of the free energy and various correlation lengths of hot QCD, but with only a minimal amount of numerical non-perturbative input needed.Comment: 10 pages. Perturbative QCD at non-zero chemical potential: Comparison with the large-Nf limit and apparent convergence

The perturbative three-loop result for the thermodynamic potential of QCD at finite temperature and chemical potential as obtained in the framework of dimensional reduction is compared with the exact result in the limit of large flavor number. The apparent convergence of the former as well as possibilities for optimization are investigated. Corresponding optimized results for full QCD are given for the case of two massless quark flavors.Comment: REVTEX4, 4 pages, 3 color figures. v2: fig. 3 now includes also lattice data for two-flavor QCD at nonzero chemical potentia

A non-perturbative contribution to jet quenching

It has been argued by Caron-Huot that infrared contributions to the jet quenching parameter in hot QCD, denoted by qhat, can be extracted from an analysis of a certain static-potential related observable within the dimensionally reduced effective field theory. Following this philosophy, the order of magnitude of a non-perturbative contribution to qhat from the colour-magnetic scale, g^2T/pi, is estimated. The result is small; it is probably below the parametrically perturbative but in practice slowly convergent contributions from the colour-electric scale, whose all-orders resummation therefore remains an important challenge.Comment: 4 pages. v2: clarifications, published versio
