    A Bivariate Spline based Collocation Method for Numerical Solution to Optimal Transport Problem

    In this paper, we study a spline collocation method for a numerical solution to the optimal transport problem We mainly solve the \MAE with the second boundary condition numerically by proposing a center matching algorithm. We prove a pointwise convergence of our iterative algorithm under the assumption the boundedness of spline iterates. We use the \MAE with Dirichlet boundary condition and some known solutions to the \MAE with second boundary condition to demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm. Then we use our method to solve some real-life problems. One application problem is to use the optimal transportation for the conversion of fisheye view images into standard rectangular images

    Asymmetrically interacting spreading dynamics on complex layered networks

    The spread of disease through a physical-contact network and the spread of information about the disease on a communication network are two intimately related dynamical processes. We investigate the asymmetrical interplay between the two types of spreading dynamics, each occurring on its own layer, by focusing on the two fundamental quantities underlying any spreading process: epidemic threshold and the final infection ratio. We find that an epidemic outbreak on the contact layer can induce an outbreak on the communication layer, and information spreading can effectively raise the epidemic threshold. When structural correlation exists between the two layers, the information threshold remains unchanged but the epidemic threshold can be enhanced, making the contact layer more resilient to epidemic outbreak.     Bidang pendidikan kejuruteraan telah menyaksikan pertumbuhan yang mampan kebelakangan ini. Namun, kurangnya penyelidikan dalam bidang ini menyebabkan sukar menemui emprikal dan teoritikal yang boleh dijadikan panduan bagi membantu pelajar kejuruteraan menyerap kandungan pembelajaran dengan lebih efektif. Secara dasarnya, reka bentuk kejuruteraan merupakan satu aktiviti kognitif yang kompleks, disebabkan pembelajaran domain ini kebanyakannya memerlukan keupayaan pelajar untuk menggunakan beban mental yang tinggi dalam pembelajaran. Bagaimanapun, salah satu kunci untuk membantu pelajar menghadapi cabaran ini adalah dengan membantu mereka menyesuaikan diri dalam membina pengetahuan dan kemahiran dengan mudah untuk menguasai kandungan pembelajaran yang berbentuk novel atau kompleks. Mujurlah, Teori Beban Kognitif kaya dengan pelbagai maklumat dan berupaya menjana kaedah pengajaran yang lebih berkesan dalam menyediakan garis panduan untuk reka bentuk pengajaran. Merujuk kepada teori ini, sebahagian besar sifat-sifat pembelajaran dan ciri-ciri pelajar telah ditekankan dalam menguruskan beban ingatan kerja melalui reka bentuk pengajaran. Oleh itu, kajian literatur ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan meneliti kajian emprikal terdahulu dalam prospek Teori Beban Kognitif dengan membandingkan keberkesanan pembelajaran pelajar bagi mendapatkan satu pendekatan yang relavan dengan domain kejuruteraan. Hasil kajian mendapati, pembelajaran berasaskan contoh kerja adalah lebih relavan dilaksanakan dalam pembelajaran kejuruteraan berbanding penyelesaian masalah terutamanya pada fasa awal pembelajaran.     Green skills for green industry: a review of literature

    Apart from technical and generic skills, employers start looking for manpower with green skills which are much needed for promoting sustainable development in social, economic as well as environment. This article aimed at finding out the major green skills demanded by the green industry based on the existing literature. In the present study, document analysis was employed. The published articles and technical reports related to green skills in various disciplines were identified from electronic databases that includes ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and Academia. The findings from literature review revealed that there are ten most common green skills demanded by various industrial sectors, namely, design skill, leadership skill, management skill, energy skill, city planning skill, landscaping skill, communication skill, waste management skill, procurement skill, and financial skill. The role and directions of skill training institutions should be aligned with the needs and wants of the industrial sectors. Therefore, it is imperative for the skill training institutions to revise and revamp their curriculum in order to produce graduates with green skills to cater for the demand of manpower market

    Assessment of Teaching Practice Competency Among in-Service Teacher Degree Program (PPG) in Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia

    The best teacher preparation programs emphasise subject matter mastery and provide many opportunities for preservice teachers to spend time in real classrooms under the supervision of an experienced mentor. Thus, teaching practice plays utmost important component of teacher training in order to produce a high quality of future teacher due to the lacking of opportunity or comfort level to work on their pedagogy knowledge while managing their first class. But this condition is slightly different for in-service teacher with diploma and upgrade to degree through the in-service teacher degree programme (PPG) path. PPG is conducted in 4 years using distance learning mode. In-service teachers will attend the courses during weekend and only five times face-to-face meeting with the lecturers. PPG aims to improve the quality of teaching and school management by increasing the teachersĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢ level of educational qualifications. However, issues were highlighted where teaching competency or performance among in-service teachers are varied during teaching practice observation. Due to their part-time mode of learning, there are concerns whether their performance is at par with their full time peers. Therefore, this paper aims to discuss the assessment of teaching practice competency among the PPG students. This study was applied the Documentation analyses as the research design by using the Teaching Assessment Form of Faculty of Technical & Vocational Education, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. Descriptive statistic using mean and standard deviation were used to analyses the collected data. The result showed that the competency of in-service teachers in teaching practicum in descending order is Personality>Portfolio> Implementation of Teaching> Lesson Planning> Implementation off Innovation> Justification of Innovation>Reflection. Results also showed that in-service teachers are good in affective (M=4.33, SD=0.48), follow by psychomotor (M=4.12, SD=0.47) and cognitive (M=3.99, SD=0.56). In conclusion, in-service teachers need training for innovation in teaching and emphasise in cognitive taxonomy.&nbsp

    Go Green Practice: A Study on TVET Higher Learning Institution Students

    Climate change and global warming has become a hot debate topic throughout the world today. The human being who lives on this earth should actively engage with environmentally conscious activities for the sustainable procurement, even just a student by making a small change in their daily lifestyle. Go green practice is the daily activities to show the intention that they are doing something for the planet earth. Therefore, a study was conducted to investigate the go green practice level among the higher learning institution students. The measurement for go green practice is the difficulty level of daily activities, which consists of three stages, namely easy, moderate and difficult. Besides, this study also compared the differences in go green practice level between female and male students. The research design used for this study is a cross-sectional survey design to gathers data and draw inferences about a population at one point in time. A total number of 116 bachelor degree students in a technical university were randomly selected for this study. A self-rating questionnaire that consists of 27 items was used to measure the studentsā€™ go green practice level. The gathered data were analysed using mean score, standard deviation, frequency and percentage. The finding shows that majority of the students tend to have a good practice category in go green practice. In addition, the result also found that there is no significant difference in the score of easy and moderate level for go green practice between male and female students, but not for the difficult stage where female students tend to have higher score than the male students. In conclusion, the TVET students do have a good practice in go green in general. However, efforts to enhance studentsā€™ awareness in Go Green practice must strengthen to ensure the environmental sustainability

    Cyberbullying among youth in Malaysia

    The purpose of this research was to survey the current situation concerning cyberbullying among youth in Malaysia. Specifically, this research aimed at finding out the prevalence of cyberbullying among youth based on demographic data and the common types of cyberbullying tactic. The survey method was adopted as the research design in which a set of questionnaire was developed to collect the data. A total of 1406 respondents were selected in this research. In general, the research findings reveal that majority of the respondents had been cyberbullied before. The Malays community yielded the highest percentage of cyberbullied victims. In addition, the result also shows that female cyber users were usually targeted as the cyberbully victim. The most common type of cyberbully tactic was through receiving offensive/ pornographic materials. Effective and pragmatic steps have to be taken in order to mitigate the cyberbullying problem among Malaysian youth

    SIMD Everywhere Optimization from ARM NEON to RISC-V Vector Extensions

    Many libraries, such as OpenCV, FFmpeg, XNNPACK, and Eigen, utilize Arm or x86 SIMD Intrinsics to optimize programs for performance. With the emergence of RISC-V Vector Extensions (RVV), there is a need to migrate these performance legacy codes for RVV. Currently, the migration of NEON code to RVV code requires manual rewriting, which is a time-consuming and error-prone process. In this work, we use the open source tool, "SIMD Everywhere" (SIMDe), to automate the migration. Our primary task is to enhance SIMDe to enable the conversion of ARM NEON Intrinsics types and functions to their corresponding RVV Intrinsics types and functions. For type conversion, we devise strategies to convert Neon Intrinsics types to RVV Intrinsics by considering the vector length agnostic (vla) architectures. With function conversions, we analyze commonly used conversion methods in SIMDe and develop customized conversions for each function based on the results of RVV code generations. In our experiments with Google XNNPACK library, our enhanced SIMDe achieves speedup ranging from 1.51x to 5.13x compared to the original SIMDe, which does not utilize customized RVV implementations for the conversions
