Explicit formulas for the generalized Hermite polynomials in superspace

We provide explicit formulas for the orthogonal eigenfunctions of the supersymmetric extension of the rational Calogero-Moser-Sutherland model with harmonic confinement, i.e., the generalized Hermite (or Hi-Jack) polynomials in superspace. The construction relies on the triangular action of the Hamiltonian on the supermonomial basis. This translates into determinantal expressions for the Hamiltonian's eigenfunctions.Comment: 19 pages. Topics covered include (1) ET geometry and heating points; (2) interference heating test data (51A); (3) heat transfer data from tests FH-15 and FH-16; (4) individual protuberance data; and (5) interference heating of paint data from test IH-42. A set of drawings of the ET moldline and protuberances is included

Re-imagining Your Professional Boundaries and Future Patrons: Are You Ready for Your Second Life?

    Get PDF
Question/Purpose: To describe and demonstrate the virtual online world Second Life (SL) in the context of education, library, and health seeking behavior. Setting/Participants: An educator, a librarian, and a health seeking SL resident participate in a learner -oriented vignette on the SL Health Info Island. Brief Description: The authors will briefly describe the online virtual world SL, the relevant information seeking uses of the world, how the authors became interested in applying the online setting to health education and information dissemination, a few of the technological and social shortcomings of the site, and show a pre-recorded health education vignette in SL. Outcome: Over 7 million people worldwide have experienced SL. In many ways, the SL residents are using the virtual world in a manner similar to the geographically bounded world: meeting and communicating life experiences with new people, participating in an astonishing variety of educational sessions, and seeking informed and meaningful interaction with health professionals. Conclusion: As the world matures and SL locations become standardized with rules and interaction protocols, there will be a definite need for accurate and timely informational exchanges. There is already an information revolution occurring in SL, are you ready?https://digitalrepository.unm.edu/hslic-posters-presentations/1042/thumbnail.jp

Optimization of preservation methods allows deeper insights into changes of raw milk microbiota

    Get PDF
The temporal instability of raw milk microbiota drastically affects the reliability of microbiome studies. However, little is known about the microbial integrity in preserved samples. Raw cow milk samples were preserved with azidiol or bronopol and stored at 4 ◦C, or with dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) or a mixture of azidiol and DMSO and stored at −20 ◦C for up to 30 days. Aliquots of 5-, 10-, and 30-day post-storage were treated with propidium monoazide (PMA), then analyzed by sequencing the 16S rRNA gene V3-V4 and V6-V8 regions. The V6-V8 gave a higher richness and lower diversity than the V3-V4 region. After 5-day storage at 4 ◦C, the microbiota of unpreserved samples was characterized by a drastic decrease in diversity, and a significant shift in community structure. The treatment with azidiol and DMSO conferred the best community stabilization in preserved raw milk. Interestingly, the azidiol treatment performed as well for up to 10 days, thus appearing as a suitable alternative. However, neither azidiol nor bronopol could minimize fungal proliferation as revealed by PMA-qPCR assays. This study demonstrates the preservative ability of a mixture of azidiol and DMSO and provides deeper insights into the microbial changes occurring during the cold storage of preserved raw milk

Synthesis of Aryl Ketoamides via Aryne Insertion into Imides

    Get PDF
An insertion of arenes into both imides and anhydrides via reactive aryne intermediates is presented. The reaction is performed under exceptionally mild conditions, and the corresponding ketoamide products are amenable to derivatization to deliver a variety of synthetically useful motifs such as quinolones, indoles, and ketoanilines

Rodrigues Formula for the Nonsymmetric Multivariable Laguerre Polynomial

Extending a method developed by Takamura and Takano, we present the Rodrigues formula for the nonsymmetric multivariable Laguerre polynomials which form the orthogonal basis for the BNB_{N}-type Calogero model with distinguishable particles. Our construction makes it possible for the first time to algebraically generate all the nonsymmetric multivariable Laguerre polynomials with different parities for each variable.Comment: 6 pages, LaTe

Prevalence and abundance of lactic acid bacteria in raw milk associated with forage types in dairy cow feeding

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) found in milk can be responsible for organoleptic defects in cheese. In order to identify the source of LAB thatcouldpotentiallydevelop during cheesemaking, we evaluated theirprevalence and abundanceinmilk according to thetype of forage usedin dairy cow feeding. Foragesand bulk tank milk were sampled three times on 24farms using either hay alone (control), or grass or legume silagesupplemented or not with corn silage. Both types of silageswere either noninoculated, orinoculated with commercial preparations containing at least a Lactobacillus buchneristrainalong with Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, Enterococcus faecium,or Pediococcus pentosaceus. Our resultsindicate that LAB viable counts in milksamples (2.56log cfu/mL) did not differaccording to the type of forage used. A total of 1239 LAB were isolated and identified by partial 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Although inoculation increased lactobacilli abundance in grass silage by 35%, we did not observe an effect on the LAB profile of milk. Indeed, there was no significant difference in milk LAB prevalence and abundanceaccording tothe type of forage(P >0.05). Moreover, isolates belonging to the L.buchnerigroup wererarely found in bulk tank milk (3/481isolates). Random amplified polymorphic DNA typing of 406LAB isolates revealed theplausibletransfer of some strains from silage to milk (~6%). Thus, forage is only a minor contributor to LAB contamination of milk

Motor Learning Guided Treatment for Acquired Apraxia of Speech: Factors That Influence Treatment Outcomes

    Get PDF
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine factors that might influence the treatment effectiveness of motor learning guided (MLG) treatment approach for apraxia of speech (AOS). Specifically, this study examined the effects home practice and the stimuli selection on speech production. Method: This is a case study across two treatment cycles involving a 52 year-old male five months post left CVA (due to a carotid artery dissection). Each treatment cycle used three conditions of practice to investigate the influence of practice frequency on treatment outcomes. The personal relevance of stimuli within and across treatment conditions differed in the treatment cycles to investigate stimuli selection influence on treatment outcomes. Results: Changes in speech motor learning occurred in all conditions of practice only after therapy began. Phrases practiced in therapy and at home met criterion for mastery in fewer sessions than therapy only and untrained phrases. The content of the stimuli did not appear to have a direct influence on speech motor learning. Conclusion: This case study contributes to the growing evidence on the effectiveness of MLG treatment for acquired AOS. Future studies using an experimental design are needed to advance and strengthen the evidence for MLG
