Herbivory increases diversification across insect clades.
Insects contain more than half of all living species, but the causes of their remarkable diversity remain poorly understood. Many authors have suggested that herbivory has accelerated diversification in many insect clades. However, others have questioned the role of herbivory in insect diversification. Here, we test the relationships between herbivory and insect diversification across multiple scales. We find a strong, positive relationship between herbivory and diversification among insect orders. However, herbivory explains less variation in diversification within some orders (Diptera, Hemiptera) or shows no significant relationship with diversification in others (Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Orthoptera). Thus, we support the overall importance of herbivory for insect diversification, but also show that its impacts can vary across scales and clades. In summary, our results illuminate the causes of species richness patterns in a group containing most living species, and show the importance of ecological impacts on diversification in explaining the diversity of life

THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, KEEP IN TOUCH, AS A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM OF VISITATION
ABSTRACT
This project discusses the development of Keep in Touch. Keep in Touch is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which is designed to aid the visitation process. Visitation is concerned with children and their families who have been separated. Reasons for separation vary; however, many children have been separated and would benefit greatly from a local visitation program. Items such as children’s rights, California’s mandatory mediation law, and the current conditions of the family court house in San Bernardino County are all discussed and examined as supporting evidence to the problem of family visitation. The goal of Keep in Touch is to provide a comfortable environment, both physical and virtual, that encourages open communication (dialogue) between children and their families. The cultural climate of Keep in Touch is one that encourages, supports and nurtures the natural connection between children and their families

Network Analysis of Counter-strike and Starcraft
Network games are becoming increasingly popular, but their traffic patterns have received little attention from the academic community. The network traffic patterns of the multiplayer games Counter-strike and Starcraft were examined and documented. Analysis focused on bandwidth usage and packet size. The games were found to have small packets and typically low bandwidth usage, but traffic patterns varied widely between games
The Underground Theater presents: “The Community Beneath Our Feet”
ReportOur project includes a complete kit to be shared by all interested in the IPM project we have produced. Our goal is to better inform students about soil and the organisms in and on the soil and also help them understand that the way we treat soil and plants makes an impact on our environment. The kit contains: An original play for school age children where the audience becomes characters in the play. A ‘how to video’ to help with background material; IPM information and ideas for developing the play, encouraging the facilitators to make it their own production. Reproducible drawings of organism that the audience participants will wear. An activity book (“The Bug-tivity Newspaper”) that is passed out to the audience. It contains IPM and good-bug, bad-bug information, experiments and other fun activities for the family that helps them understand more about our environment and how the choices we make affect it
Superanalogs of the Calogero operators and Jack polynomials
A depending on a complex parameter superanalog
of Calogero operator is constructed; it is related with the root system of the
Lie superalgebra . For we obtain the usual Calogero
operator; for we obtain, up to a change of indeterminates and parameter
the operator constructed by Veselov, Chalykh and Feigin [2,3]. For the operator is the radial part of the 2nd
order Laplace operator for the symmetric superspaces corresponding to pairs
and , respectively. We will show
that for the generic and the superanalogs of the Jack polynomials
constructed by Kerov, Okunkov and Olshanskii [5] are eigenfunctions of
; for they coinside with the spherical
functions corresponding to the above mentioned symmetric superspaces. We also
study the inner product induced by Berezin's integral on these superspaces
Requirement specifications for standardized Local Area Networks and applications for Naval Aviation squadrons.
This thesis will address unique characteristics and
requirements for implementing a Local Area Network (LAN)
and standard applications at the Naval Aviation squadron
level. The introduction will present the history and basic
concept of LAN's at squadrons as well as defining the
problem that exists. Examples of Local Area Networks are
presented to provide a basic understanding of the
technology involved. The organization of Naval Aviation
squadrons is discussed to illustrate the high level
functional requirements. Areas to be covered in the
requirements specifications are then discussed to ensure
completeness and the overall success of this concept.
Performance, documentation, training, support and security
are a few of the issues that are addressed. Complete
specifications, a coordinated and well thought out plan and
designation of a project manager are critical elements that
cannot be ignored if the project is to succeed.http://archive.org/details/requirementspeci00masoLieutenant, United States Navy ReserveApproved for public release; distribution is unlimited
