Some antecedents and outcomes of passionate desire for fashion clothes and accessories

    Get PDF
Fashion trends and consumer-fashion brand relationships have been subject of study for both researchers and practitioners. Yet, as far as we know, there is a lack of analysis of the process behind the creation of a fashion trend, in previous studies. Therefore the main goal of this research was to start to understand the process behind the creation of a fashion passion for clothes and accessories, particularly to understand in what extend do narcissism and social values influence passionate desire and then, the way passionate desire influences positive word-of-mouth and affective commitment. Findings reveal that Social values have a positive and significant direct effect on Passionate desire. Yet, the strength of the relationship between Narcissism and Passionate desire is weak. The strength of the relationship between Passionate desire and word-of-mouth is weaker than the relationship between Passionate desire and Affective commitment. The current study also provides managerial implications and suggestions for further research.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The response of 87 “B. diandrus” (ripgut brome) populations collected in cereal fields of Castilla-León and of one population collected in INIA (Madrid), to the herbicides glyphosate and sulfosulfuron, used for brome control in wheat during years, has been evaluated. The bioassays were conducted under greenhouse conditions with three doses: control, the recommended label herbicide dose (20 g m.a. ha-1 for sulfosulfuron and 800 g m.a. ha-1 for glyphosate) and half dose, with 5 replications per dose and 100 seeds per replication and population. Resistant populations were not found when the herbicide label dose was applied, but 55% of the populations showed certain resistance to sulfosulfuron and 14% to glyphosate

The response of 25 populations of Avena sterilis L. collected in Castilla-León to the ACCase (acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase) inhibiting herbicides clodinafop-propargyl, diclofop-methyl and tralkoxydim has been evaluated in the green-house. Two herbicide doses were used(the recommended field rate and the double rate) plus a non-treated control, with 3 replications per dose and 25 seeds per replication. The field rate was 40.8 g a.i. ha-1 for clodinafop, 900 g a.i. ha-1 for diclofop and 400 g a.i. ha-1 for tralkoxydim. All sampled populations were sensitive to tralkoxydim herbicide when used at the recommended field rate. Although most of the populations were classified as sensitive in the response to the used “fop” herbicides, populations showed some degree of resistance to both herbicides but in a greater extent to diclofop-methyl

Value co-creation in hospitality industry: A systematic literature review

    Get PDF
Service dominant (S-D) logic, which advocates prominence of services rather than goods in economic exchange, has become one of most the popular research streams in recent years. One of the most prominent theories of (S-D) logic is value co-creation. Although co-creation is mutually beneficial, it is considered to be customer-oriented and interactional. In a dynamic and interactive industry like the hotel industry, the creation of value through interaction and engagement with customers is significant to enhance business performance. This article reports a systematic literature review (SLR) to critically analyse the key findings of the publications in the domain of value co-creation related to the hospitality industry. This article also endeavours to identify and critically analyse the key themes, theories, and constructs of prior studies. The findings show that the interactive co-creative experience is significant to create positive emotion and satisfaction for hotel guests. This positive emotion and satisfaction encourage the guests to come back to the hotel and recommend it to others. Interactional co-creation also leads to more engagement, which has been found to have a significant effect on hotel performance. Therefore, hotel management should invest time and money to train and encourage hotel employees to accelerate interaction and engagement with guests to create better experience for hotel guests. This should enhance hotel performance.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

`Island Surfing' Mechanism of Electron Acceleration During Magnetic Reconnection

One of the key unresolved problems in the study of space plasmas is to explain the production of energetic electrons as magnetic field lines `reconnect' and release energy in a exposive manner. Recent observations suggest possible roles played by small scale magnetic islands in the reconnection region, but their precise roles and the exact mechanism of electron energization have remained unclear. Here we show that secondary islands generated in the reconnection region are indeed efficient electron accelerators. We found that, when electrons are trapped inside the islands, they are energized continuously by the reconnection electric field prevalent in the reconnection diffusion region. The size and the propagation speed of the secondary islands are similar to those of islands observed in the magnetotail containing energertic electrons.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, submitted to J. Central factorials under the Kontorovich-Lebedev transform of polynomials

We show that slight modifications of the Kontorovich-Lebedev transform lead to an automorphism of the vector space of polynomials. This circumstance along with the Mellin transformation property of the modified Bessel functions perform the passage of monomials to central factorial polynomials. A special attention is driven to the polynomial sequences whose KL-transform is the canonical sequence, which will be fully characterized. Finally, new identities between the central factorials and the Euler polynomials are found.Comment: also available at http://cmup.fc.up.pt/cmup/ since the 2nd August 201

The impact of influencer marketing and instagrammers on consumer purchase intentions and brand attitude

In the last few years, we have noticed the emergence of influencer marketing (Lanz, Goldenberg, Shapira, and Stahl, 2019; Sokolova and Kefi, 2019), specifically of how some of this arising-stars in the social media spectrum have become sources of advice for other consumers, resulting in opinion leaders for the brands they advocate (Casaló, Flavián, and Ibáñez-Sánchez, 2018). As this trend is expected to continue in the near future, the current research focuses in one of the fastest-growing social media platforms - Instagram - (De Veirman, Cauberghe, and Hudders, 2017; Sheldon, Rauschnabel, Antony, and Car, 2017) to understand how Instagrammers and their posts have an impact on consumer’s purchase decisions for the young-adult audiences. Additionally, this study also aims to understand if this content creation influences consumer’s brand attitude (Faircloth, Capella, and Alford, 2016), that is, in the consumer’s opinion about a product or service of a specific brand.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Vascular Function Long Term After Kawasaki Disease: Another Piece of the Puzzle?

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: Kawasaki disease is an acute systemic vasculitis. Cardiac complications are frequent and include endothelial dysfunction in patients with coronary anomalies. Thus far, endothelial dysfunction in patients with no coronary lesions is poorly understood. Our aim was to access the vascular function in adolescents and young adults long term after Kawasaki disease, but without coronary aneurysms or any other cardiac risk factors. METHODS: We carried out a single-centre prospective study in a Portuguese population. We evaluated two groups of subjects: (1) Kawasaki disease patients over 11 years of age, diagnosed >5 years ago, with no coronary lesions or any other risk factors for cardiovascular disease; (2) control group of individuals without cardiovascular risk factors. Patients and controls were clinically assessed. Endo-PAT and carotid intima-media thickness assessment were performed to determine vascular function. RESULTS: In total, 43 Kawasaki disease patients were assessed and compared with 43 controls. Kawasaki disease patients presented a decreased reactive hyperaemia index compared with controls (1.59±0.45 versus 1.98±0.41; p<0.001). Augmentation index was similar in both groups (-4.5±7 versus -5±9%; p 0.6). The mean carotid intima-media thickness was not significantly increased in the Kawasaki disease group. There were no statistically significant changes with regard to laboratory data. CONCLUSIONS: Children with Kawasaki disease may have long-term sequelae, even when there is no discernible coronary artery involvement in the acute stage of the disease. Further research is needed to assess whether known strategies to improve endothelial function would bring potential benefits to Kawasaki disease patients.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
