Calculation Of Raman Scattering By Acoustic Phonons In Superlattices

We report on the calculation of low-frequency Raman scattering by longitudinal acoustic phonons in superlattices. The phonons are treated as elastic waves propagating in a continuum and their mode patterns are calculated by a transfer-matrix method. The electromagnetic propagation is calculated neglecting reflections and refractions at the interfaces, through the use of the same index of refraction for both constituent materials. The use of a complex refraction index allows for absorption effects to be included. The suitability of the numerical calculation for modeling superlattices is demonstrated. © 1994 The American Physical Society.5016118451184

BLACK HOLES IN THREE-DIMENSIONAL DILATON GRAVITY THEORIES

Three dimensional black holes in a generalized dilaton gravity action theory are analysed. The theory is specified by two fields, the dilaton and the graviton, and two parameters, the cosmological constant and the Brans-Dicke parameter. It contains seven different cases, of which one distinguishes as special cases, string theory, general relativity and a theory equivalent to four dimensional general relativity with one Killing vector. We study the causal structure and geodesic motion of null and timelike particles in the black hole geometries and find the ADM masses of the different solutions.Comment: 19 pages, latex, 4 figures as uuencoded postscript file

Exact General Relativistic Thick Disks

A method to construct exact general relativistic thick disks that is a simple generalization of the ``displace, cut and reflect'' method commonly used in Newtonian, as well as, in Einstein theory of gravitation is presented. This generalization consists in the addition of a new step in the above mentioned method. The new method can be pictured as a ``displace, cut, {\it fill} and reflect'' method. In the Newtonian case, the method is illustrated in some detail with the Kuzmin-Toomre disk. We obtain a thick disk with acceptable physical properties. In the relativistic case two solutions of the Weyl equations, the Weyl gamma metric (also known as Zipoy-Voorhees metric) and the Chazy-Curzon metric are used to construct thick disks. Also the Schwarzschild metric in isotropic coordinates is employed to construct another family of thick disks. In all the considered cases we have non trivial ranges of the involved parameter that yield thick disks in which all the energy conditions are satisfied.Comment: 11 pages, RevTex, 9 eps figs. Enraizamento in vitro de híbrido intraespecífico de pimenteira-do-reino (Piper nigrum L.) sob a ação de ANA e GA3.

A pimenta-do-reino(Piper nigrum L) é um dos principais produtos agrícola de exportação do Estado do Pará que em 2010 produziu 39.235 toneladas. A micropropagação é alternativa de clonagem in vitro para dar suporte ao programa de melhoramento genético e produzir mudas sadias. Este trabalho visou a diferenciação de raízes e parte aérea a partir de gemas de híbridos de pimenteira-do-reino cultivadas in vitro sob a influência de ácido giberélico e ácido naftalenoacético. Foram utilizados gemas laterais cultivadas em meio ½ MS suplementado com ácido naftalenoacético (ANA 0,05mg.L-1) e Ácido giberélico (GA3 0,0; 0,2; 1,0 ; 5,0 mg.L-1) em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, composto por cinco tratamentos, considerando um tratamento sem regulador de crescimento, composto de cinco repetições e cada repetição com cinco explantes/frasco. O experimento foi estabelecido em condições controladas de cultivo por um período de cinco semanas. A avaliação foi quanto a percentagem de enraizamento, número de raízes e desenvolvimento da parte aérea, cujos resultados demonstraram que 0,05 de ANA induziu raízes em 100% dos explantes, independente da utilização de GA3, e quando em meio de cultura com adição de 1,0 mg.L-1 ou 2,0 mg.L-1 de GA3 apresentaram maiores medias do número de raiz/broto, mas maior crescimento da parte aérea no tratamento ocorreu em meio de cultura sem regulador de crescimento. Para o enraizamento de brotos a concentração de 0,05 mg.L-1 de ANA é suficiente e o GA3 não influencia no crescimento da parte aérea
