Controlled and natural language use in the databases : literature review

O trabalho tem como objetivo examinar o uso da linguagem controlada ou da linguagem natural , no planejamento da estratégia de busca em um ambiente de bases de dados em CD-ROM ou em linha. São revisados os estudos que abordam o uso das linguagens controlada e natural nas estratégias de busca, suas vantagens e desvantagens, proporcionando uma perspectiva sobre a complexidade para a busca da informação bibliográfica e referencial, incluindo a seleção de termos para as estratégias e a função do vocabulário controlado ou da linguagem natural nesse contexto. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThe work has the aim to examine the use of the controlled language or the use of the natural language in the search strategy planning in the CD-ROM or online environment. Visualização mental, experiências de flow, ansiedade e percepções de desafio e ameaça na competição : estudo exploratório no desporto adaptado

Dissertação de mestrado em Psicologia (área de especialização em Psicologia do Desporto e do Exercício Físico)Na procura da compreensão dos factores e competências psicológicas que acompanham os bons e elevados desempenhos e rendimentos desportivos, alguns constructos têm vindo a ser referidos pela literatura como elementos associados à qualidade do rendimento desportivo. É o caso da capacidade de visualização mental, as experiências de flow, as expectativas de autoeficácia, a ansiedade do rendimento e as avaliações cognitivas (percepção de ameaça e desafio) na competição desportiva. São esses factores (e as suas inter-relações) que pretendemos analisar mais detalhadamente no nosso estudo, particularmente junto de uma amostra de atletas de desporto adaptado, onde a investigação psicológica (tanto em termos internacionais, como nacionais) é ainda escassa. Os participantes neste estudo exploratório e correlacional foram 34 sujeitos, todos eles do sexo masculino, praticantes de basquetebol adaptado em cadeira de rodas, com idades compreendidas entre os 16 e 63 (M=35,7 anos). Foram administradas medidas da frequência de diferentes tipos de visualização mental, capacidades de VM motivacional, experiências de flow, percepções de ameaça na competição desportiva e ansiedade competiva. Os resultados obtidos permitiram avaliar as interrelações entre estes construtos e competências, bem como avaliar e medir o uso e frequência de importantes competências e estratégias de VM. Estes dados são apresentados e discutidos, sendo apresentadas algumas implicações para a intervenção psicológica no desporto adaptado.In seeking understanding of psychological factors and skills that come with good yields and high performance and sports, some constructs have been mentioned in the literature as elements related to quality of sport performance: the ability of mental imagery, the experience of flow, expectations of self-efficacy, anxiety and cognitive assessments yield (perception of threat and challenge) in competitive sport. Are these factors (and their inter-relationships) that we intend to examine in more detail in our study, particularly among a sample of athletes in sports meets, where psychological research (both international and domestic) is still scarce. Participants in this exploratory and correlational study were 34 male wheelchair basketball athletes students, with ages ranging from 16 to 63 years old (mean age= 35,7). Measures of the frequencies of diferent types of mental imagery, as well as of motivational imagery abilities, flow experiences, threat perceptions in competition and performance anxiety were administered. The main results have given as opportunity to assess these constructs and skills, as well as to measure the use of important skills and strategies of mental imagery. Such data are presented and discussed, and some implications for psychological intervention in adapted sport, are also discussed

Search strategy in information retrieval : literature review

Os sistemas de recuperação de informação, também denominados de bancos de dados, apresentam uma complexidade indiscutível no processo de armazenamento e busca da informação, envolvendo uma série de aspectos que são interdependentes. Dentre estes, podem ser destacados os seguintes fatores: a tecnologia eletrônica conduz os usuários ao acesso democrático à informação ampliando a busca de informação em bases de dados geograficamente distantes; o alcance da qualidade na informação recuperada requer o planejamento de estratégias de busca específicas para cada base de dados. Esse artigo revisa a literatura publicada sobre estratégias de busca abordando os tópicos relativos a seus conceitos, suas principais técnicas e etapas para sua operacionalização.The information retrieval systems, also cited as data banks, presents a incontestable complexity in the process of information storage and retrieval, involving a series of interdependent aspects . According these factors, the following topics are pointed out: the electronic technology direct the users to the democratic access to information increasing the information search in remote databases; the quality in the retrieved information demands the planning of specific search strategies for each database. This article reviews the literature of search strategies published, covering the following topics: the concept of search strategies, the principal search techniques and the steps to perform the searches

Sistemas "online" de recuperação da informação

Nas últimas duas décadas, a tecnologia de computadores aliada ao desenvolvimento de Redes de Telecomunicações tem influenciado o registro, controle e acesso à Informação em Ciência e Tecnologia — ICT, propiciando o surgimento das bases de dados bibliográficos e não-bibliográficos. Essas bases — arquivos em fita e/ou discos magnéticos, registram a produção científica e tecnológica a nível internacional, em todas as áreas de ICT, cobrindo em média um período retrospectivo de quinze anos. Assim, o processo de registro de grandes volumes de informações tornou-se mais ágil e obteve um considerável impulso com o aparecimento dos Sistemas "online" de recuperação da informação, os quais vieram interligar os outros segmentos da indústria da informação: produtores das bases de dados e Redes de Telecomunicações. O potencial de informações contidas nas Bases de dados dos Sistemas ORBIT, DIALOG e QUESTEL é analisado, procurando-se enfatizar as áreas de maior demanda por parte dos pesquisadores brasileiros que, desde 1977, vêm sendo atendidos pelo Serviço de Busca Bibliográfica "online" do IBICT-Posto de Serviço/RJ. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTIn the last two decades the computer technologies allied to the development of Telecommunications Networks had influenced the record, the control and access to Information in Science and Technology - IST, propitiating the implementation of bibliographic and non-bibliographic databases. A revolução nos paradigmas de produção do conhecimento e as implicações na qualidade de informação disponibilizadas na World Wide Web (Web) são analisadas. Apresentam-se as questões relacionadas com os critérios de avaliação da qualidade da informação em saúde recuperadas na Web, com ênfase naqueles definidos pela Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (AHCPR), do Health Information Technology Institute (Hiti). Intrusion detection system in software-defined networks

It is the critical importance of understanding and fortifying SDN security, given its pivotal role in the modern digital ecosystem. With the ever-evolving threat landscape, research into innovative security measures is essential to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of network resources in this dynamic and transformative technology, ultimately safeguarding the reliability and functionality of our interconnected world. This research presents a novel approach to enhancing security in Software-Defined Networking through the development of an initial Intrusion Detection System. The IDS offers a scalable solution, facilitating the transmission and storage of network traffic with robust support for failure recovery across multiple nodes. Additionally, an innovative analysis module incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) to predict the nature of network traffic, effectively distinguishing between malicious and benign data. The system integrates a diverse range of technologies and tools, enabling the processing and analysis of network traffic data from PCAP files, thus contributing to the reinforcement of SDN security.As tecnologias de Redes Definidas por Software representam um paradigma recente na gestão de redes, oferecendo flexibilidade e escalabilidade sem precedentes. Antigenicity of envelope protein complexes of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis and insights into T cell responses of infected animals

Paratuberculosis is a disease caused by Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP). This is a chronic enteric disease of ruminant animals with clinical signs taking from 2 to 5 years for manifestation. Current diagnostic tests are effective in identifying animals in later stages of infection; however, sensitivity among animals in the early stages of infection is low. In addition, currently available vaccines in the US fail to prevent infection of animals. Transitions in host immunity to MAP leading to clinical disease are poorly understood and their comprehension could lead to more targeted approaches for vaccine and diagnostic development. The objective of the first study was to identify protein complexes in the envelope of MAP to gain insight into pathogenic mechanisms as well as to identify antigenic proteins. Seven protein complexes were identified in the envelope of MAP and these complexes were fragmented into individual proteins with potential as diagnostic and vaccine targets. The second objective in this thesis was to study two crucial molecules in T cell signaling investigated in cows with subclinical and clinical disease. ZAP-70 (zeta-chain associated protein of 70 kDa) is involved in proximal T cell receptor signaling and its activation is necessary for T cell effector function. The second molecule studied was CTLA-4 (cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4), regarded as one of the major negative regulators of T cell function. All MAP infected animals demonstrated a significant reduction in expression of ZAP-70 among CD4+ T cells whereas only animals of subclinical status had a significant upregulation of CTLA-4 in the CD4+ T cell population. Both studies contribute novel and important findings to the field of paratuberculosis. Protein interactions within the envelope of MAP were discovered along with the identification of several protein candidates for vaccine and diagnostic development. In addition, immune alterations that occur with infection and progression of disease were also demonstrated

Bounds on the electromagnetic interactions of excited spin-3/2 leptons

We discuss possible deviations from QED produced by a virtual excited spin-3/2 lepton in the reaction $e^+e^- \longrightarrow 2\gamma$. Data recorded by the OPAL Collaboration at a c.m. energy $\sqrt{s} = 183 GeV$ are used to establish bounds on the nonstandard-lepton mass and coupling strengths.Comment: Latex, 5 pages, 7 ps figures.
