    Management Model of Ecological Tourism for the City of Francisco de Orellana

    The purpose of the present study is to design a management model of ecological tourism for the city of Francisco de Orellana. Through the compilation of information and tourist offers, and the analysis of biophysical, sociocultural and economic areas, and plants, superstructures and attractions that appeal to tourists, 4 natural and 5 cultural places were identified. With the application of the environmental impact matrix, it was determined that tourist attractions present a high level of contamination due to the presence of the industrial sector and the inadequate handling of dirty water and solid waste. The most affected tourist attractions are: Napo and Payamino rivers, the Yacu eco-park and the boardwalk; throughout the environmental impact matrix they establish obstacles to environmental remediation. With the results obtained, a sustainable tourism management model was designed based on the objectives of Plan Nacional del Buen Vivir and PLANDETUR 2020. The study concludes that the management model will provide a starting point for the development of sustainable tourism activity in the city. Resumen El objetivo de la presente investigación es diseñar un modelo de gestión del turismo ecológico para la ciudad de Francisco de Orellana. A través de la recopilación de información, oferta turística y el análisis de áreas biofísicas, socioculturales, económicas, planta turística, superestructura turística y el atractivo turístico donde se identificaron 4 lugares naturales y 5 culturales. Con la aplicación de la matriz de impacto ambiental se determinó que los atractivos turísticos presentan un alto nivel de contaminación debido a la presencia del sector industrial y al manejo inadecuado del agua sucia y los residuos sólidos. Los atractivos turísticos más afectados son: Ríos Napo y Payamino, Payamino El eco parque Yacu y el malecón, a lo largo de la matriz de soluciones, establecen alternativas de remediación ambiental. Con los resultados obtenidos, se diseña un modelo de gestión del turismo sostenible basado en los objetivos del Plan Nacional del Buen Vivir y PLANDETUR 2020. Se concluye que el modelo de gestión proporcionará el comienzo para desarrollar una actividad turística sostenible en la ciudad.     Evidence of ongoing radial migration in NGC 6754: Azimuthal variations of the gas properties

    Understanding the nature of spiral structure in disk galaxies is one of the main, and still unsolved questions in galactic astronomy. However, theoretical works are proposing new testable predictions whose detection is becoming feasible with recent development in instrumentation. In particular, streaming motions along spiral arms are expected to induce azimuthal variations in the chemical composition of a galaxy at a given galactic radius. In this letter we analyse the gas content in NGC 6754 with VLT/MUSE data to characterise its 2D chemical composition and Hα\alpha line-of-sight velocity distribution. We find that the trailing (leading) edge of the NGC 6754 spiral arms show signatures of tangentially-slower, radially-outward (tangentially-faster, radially-inward) streaming motions of metal-rich (poor) gas over a large range of radii. These results show direct evidence of gas radial migration for the first time. We compare our results with the gas behaviour in a NN-body disk simulation showing spiral morphological features rotating with a similar speed as the gas at every radius, in good agreement with the observed trend. This indicates that the spiral arm features in NGC 6754 may be transient and rotate similarly as the gas does at a large range of radii.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, accepted for publication in ApJL 2016 September 2

    Bond-charge Interaction in the extended Hubbard chain

    We study the effects of bond-charge interaction (or correlated hopping) on the properties of the extended ({\it i.e.,} with both on-site (UU) and nearest-neighbor (VV) repulsions) Hubbard model in one dimension at half-filling. Energy gaps and correlation functions are calculated by Lanczos diagonalization on finite systems. We find that, irrespective of the sign of the bond-charge interaction, XX, the charge--density-wave (CDW) state is more robust than the spin--density-wave (SDW) state. A small bond-charge interaction term is enough to make the differences between the CDW and SDW correlation functions much less dramatic than when X=0X=0. For X=tX=t and fixed V<2tV<2t (tt is the uncorrelated hopping integral), there is an intermediate phase between a charge ordered phase and a phase corresponding to singly-occupied sites, the nature of which we clarify: it is characterized by a succession of critical points, each of which corresponding to a different density of doubly-occupied sites. We also find an unusual slowly decaying staggered spin-density correlation function, which is suggestive of some degree of ordering.     Characterization of a putative grapevine Zn transporter, VvZIP3, suggests its involvement in early reproductive development in Vitis vinifera L

Because Zn cannot passively diffuse across cell membranes, it must be transported into intracellular compartments for all biological processes where Zn is required. Several members of the Zinc-regulated transporters, Iron-regulated transporter-like Protein (ZIP) gene family have been characterized in plants, and have shown to be involved in metal uptake and transport. This study describes the first putative Zn transporter in grapevine. Unravelling its function may explain an important symptom of Zn deficiency in grapevines, which is the production of clusters with fewer and usually smaller berries than normal. Results: We identified and characterized a putative Zn transporter from berries of Vitis vinifera L., named VvZIP3. Compared to other members of the ZIP family identified in the Vitis vinifera L. genome, VvZIP3 is mainly expressed in reproductive tissue - specifically in developing flowers - which correlates with the high Zn accumulation in these organs. Contrary to this, the low expression of VvZIP3 in parthenocarpic berries shows a relationship with the lower Zn accumulation in this tissue than in normal seeded berries where its expression is induced by Zn. The predicted protein sequence indicates strong similarity with several members of the ZIP family from Arabidopsis thaliana and other species. Moreover, VvZIP3 complemented the growth defect of a yeast Zn-uptake mutant, ZHY3, and is localized in the plasma membrane of plant cells, suggesting that VvZIP3 has the function of a Zn uptake transporter. Conclusions: Our results suggest that VvZIP3 encodes a putative plasma membrane Zn transporter protein member of the ZIP gene family that might play a role in Zn uptake and distribution during the early reproductive development in Vitis vinifera L., indicating that the availability of this micronutrient may be relevant for reproductive development

    Observational constraints to boxy/peanut bulge formation time

    Boxy/peanut bulges are considered to be part of the same stellar structure as bars and both could be linked through the buckling instability. The Milky Way is our closest example. The goal of this letter is determining if the mass assembly of the different components leaves an imprint in their stellar populations allowing to estimate the time of bar formation and its evolution. To this aim we use integral field spectroscopy to derive the stellar age distributions, SADs, along the bar and disc of NGC 6032. The analysis shows clearly different SADs for the different bar areas. There is an underlying old (>=12 Gyr) stellar population for the whole galaxy. The bulge shows star formation happening at all times. The inner bar structure shows stars of ages older than 6 Gyrs with a deficit of younger populations. The outer bar region presents a SAD similar to that of the disc. To interpret our results, we use a generic numerical simulation of a barred galaxy. Thus, we constrain, for the first time, the epoch of bar formation, the buckling instability period and the posterior growth from disc material. We establish that the bar of NGC 6032 is old, formed around 10 Gyr ago while the buckling phase possibly happened around 8 Gyr ago. All these results point towards bars being long-lasting even in the presence of gas.Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS Letter
