Dependences of helium retention in tungsten and tantalum coatings irradiated with He⁺ ions on fluence and temperature
The processes of helium accumulation and thermal desorption for tungsten and tantalum coatings deposited on a stainless-steel substrate with an intermediate titanium layer were studied at various temperatures of the samples when irradiated with He⁺ ions to various fluences. The dependences of the concentration of captured helium and the form of the spectra of its thermal desorption into vacuum were found both on the fluence of He⁺ ions and on the temperature of the samples upon irradiation. Possible mechanisms for the accumulation and thermal desorption of helium, as well as the formation of defects in the crystal lattice of the samples, are discussed. Implantation of deuterium and helium ions into composite structure with tantalum coating
Processes of retention and thermal release of implanted deuterium and helium from tantalum coatings of multilayer composite structure by thermodesorption spectrometry were investigated. The dependences of amount of accumulated deuterium and helium, and the shape of thermal desorption spectra as functions of the D⁺

fluencies and of the temperature of irradiation were shown. Possible mechanisms of these processes are proposed. Measurement of the Positive Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment to 0.46 ppm
We present the first results of the Fermilab Muon g-2 Experiment for the
positive muon magnetic anomaly . The anomaly is
determined from the precision measurements of two angular frequencies.
Intensity variation of high-energy positrons from muon decays directly encodes
the difference frequency between the spin-precession and cyclotron
frequencies for polarized muons in a magnetic storage ring. The storage ring
magnetic field is measured using nuclear magnetic resonance probes calibrated
in terms of the equivalent proton spin precession frequency
in a spherical water sample at 34.7C. The
ratio , together with known fundamental
constants, determines
(0.46\,ppm). The result is 3.3 standard deviations greater than the standard
model prediction and is in excellent agreement with the previous Brookhaven
National Laboratory (BNL) E821 measurement. After combination with previous
measurements of both and , the new experimental average of
(0.35\,ppm) increases the
tension between experiment and theory to 4.2 standard deviationsComment: 10 pages; 4 figure
Bladder emptying dysfunction accompanies many neurological diseases. Such bladder dysfunction leads to the risk of serious complications developing which can negatively affect neurorehabilitation. The main method of treating neurogenic bladder emptying dysfunction is periodic catheterization. When periodic catheterization is going to be used, preference should be given to modern lubricant catheters with fixed hydrophilic coating. According to the law of Russian Federation, disabled people can receive such catheters for free as a technical tool of rehabilitation. The article discusses the law aspects of obtaining catheters for periodic catheterization by a disabled person with lower urinary neurogenic dysfunction.
Investigation of the Processes of Retention and Release of Implanted Deuterium and Helium Ions for Tungsten and Tantalum Coatings
The analysis of main published results of studies of retention and migration of ion-implanted hydrogen isotopes and helium in tungsten and tantalum coatings, formation of radiation damages of the crystal lattice and their interaction with implanted gases, as well as the influence of helium and deuterium on various properties and surface morphology of coatings was carried out. The irradiation of samples was performed by beams of accelerated ions of hydrogen isotopes or He+, and in a plasma containing these ions, at various fluences and energies of incident ions, and at various temperatures of targets during implantation. Special attention was paid to the research results obtained at simultaneous irradiation of W both in bulk and in thin-film form. The used methods were electron microscopy, reemission mass spectrometry, thermal desorption spectrometry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, nuclear reaction analysis and Rutherford ion scattering
The calorimeter system of the new muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab
The electromagnetic calorimeter for the new muon (g 122) experiment at Fermilab will consist of arrays of PbF2 \u10cerenkov crystals read out by large-area silicon photo-multiplier (SiPM) sensors. We report here the requirements for this system, the achieved solution and the results obtained from a test beam using 2.0\u20134.5 GeV electrons with a 28-element prototype array
The measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon at fermilab
The anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is one of the most precisely measured quantities in experimental particle physics. Its latest measurement at Brookhaven National Laboratory deviates from the Standard Model expectation by approximately 3.5 standard deviations. The goal of the new experiment, E989, now under construction at Fermilab, is a fourfold improvement in precision. Here, we discuss the details of the future measurement and its current status
