An Investigation of the Socioeconomic Impacts of Tri-State Bypass, 1970-2000
Geographical information systems and econometric tools were used to determine the socioeconomic impacts of bypasses in Atlanta-Birmingham Metropolitan area. Mean household income and per capita income of county is separately used as a proxy for anticipated bypass impact as a function, of socioeconomic variables: farm income, farm employment, non-farm employment, age groups, and population density. The cross-sectional and the time series data were pooled together and estimated as panel data. Results indicate that most of these variables have positive impacts on growth.Public Economics,
Rates of Short-GRB afterglows in association with Binary Neutron Star mergers
Assuming all binary Neutron Star mergers produce Short Gamma Ray Bursts
(SGRBs), we combine the merger rates of binary Neutron Stars (BNS) from
population synthesis studies, the sensitivities of advanced Gravitational Wave
(GW) interferometer networks, and of the electromagnetic (EM) facilities in
various wave bands, to compute the detection rate of associated afterglows in
these bands. Using the inclination angle measured from GWs as a proxy for the
viewing angle and assuming a uniform distribution of jet opening angle between
3 to 30 degrees, we generate light curves of the counterparts using the open
access afterglow hydrodynamics package BoxFit for X-ray, Optical and Radio
bands. For different EM detectors we obtain the fraction of EM counterparts
detectable in these three bands by imposing appropriate detection thresholds.
In association with BNS mergers detected by five (three) detector network of
advanced GW interferometers, assuming a BNS merger rate of ~\citep{dominik2012double}, we find the afterglow
detection rates (per year) to be (), ()
and () in the X-ray, optical and radio bands respectively.
Our rates represent maximum possible detections for the given BNS rate since we
ignore effects of cadence and field of view in EM follow up observations.Comment: Published in MNRA
Exploring Short-GRB afterglow parameter space for observations in coincidence with gravitational waves
Short duration Gamma Ray Bursts(SGRB) and their afterglows are among the most
promising electro-magnetic (EM) counterparts of Neutron Star (NS) mergers. The
afterglow emission is broadband, visible across the entire electro-magnetic
window from -ray to radio frequencies. The flux evolution in these
frequencies is sensitive to the multi-dimensional afterglow physical parameter
space. Observations of gravitational wave (GW) from BNS mergers in spatial and
temporal coincidence with SGRB and associated afterglows can provide valuable
constraints on afterglow physics. We run simulations of GW-detected BNS events
and assuming all of them are associated with a GRB jet which also produces an
afterglow, investigate how detections or non-detections in X-ray, optical and
radio frequencies can be influenced by the parameter space. We narrow-down the
regions of afterglow parameter space for a uniform top-hat jet model which
would result in different detection scenarios. We list inferences which can be
drawn on the physics of GRB afterglows from multi-messenger astronomy with

HTLV-1 Tax-1 interacts with SNX27 to regulate cellular localization of the HTLV-1 receptor molecule, GLUT1
An estimated 10–20 million people worldwide are infected with human T cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1), with endemic areas of infection in Japan, Australia, the Caribbean, and Africa. HTLV-1 is the causative agent of adult T cell leukemia (ATL) and HTLV-1 associated myopathy/tropic spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP). HTLV-1 expresses several regulatory and accessory genes that function at different stages of the virus life cycle. The regulatory gene Tax-1 is required for efficient virus replication, as it drives transcription of viral gene products, and has also been demonstrated to play a key role in the pathogenesis of the virus. Several studies have identified a PDZ binding motif (PBM) at the carboxyl terminus of Tax-1 and demonstrated the importance of this domain for HTLV-1 induced cellular transformation. Using a mass spectrometry-based proteomics approach we identified sorting nexin 27 (SNX27) as a novel interacting partner of Tax-1. Further, we demonstrated that their interaction is mediated by the Tax-1 PBM and SNX27 PDZ domains. SNX27 has been shown to promote the plasma membrane localization of glucose transport 1 (GLUT1), one of the receptor molecules of the HTLV-1 virus, and the receptor molecule required for HTLV-1 fusion and entry. We postulated that Tax-1 alters GLUT1 localization via its interaction with SNX27. We demonstrate that over expression of Tax-1 in cells causes a reduction of GLUT1 on the plasma membrane. Furthermore, we show that knockdown of SNX27 results in increased virion release and decreased HTLV-1 infectivity. Collectively, we demonstrate the first known mechanism by which HTLV-1 regulates a receptor molecule post-infection.</div
Darboux transformation and multi-soliton solutions of Two-Boson hierarchy
We study Darboux transformations for the two boson (TB) hierarchy both in the
scalar as well as in the matrix descriptions of the linear equation. While
Darboux transformations have been extensively studied for integrable models
based on within the AKNS framework, this model is based on
. The connection between the scalar and the matrix
descriptions in this case implies that the generic Darboux matrix for the TB
hierarchy has a different structure from that in the models based on
studied thus far. The conventional Darboux transformation is shown to be quite
restricted in this model. We construct a modified Darboux transformation which
has a much richer structure and which also allows for multi-soliton solutions
to be written in terms of Wronskians. Using the modified Darboux
transformations, we explicitly construct one soliton/kink solutions for the

Co-evolution of RDF Datasets
Linking Data initiatives have fostered the publication of large number of RDF
datasets in the Linked Open Data (LOD) cloud, as well as the development of
query processing infrastructures to access these data in a federated fashion.
However, different experimental studies have shown that availability of LOD
datasets cannot be always ensured, being RDF data replication required for
envisioning reliable federated query frameworks. Albeit enhancing data
availability, RDF data replication requires synchronization and conflict
resolution when replicas and source datasets are allowed to change data over
time, i.e., co-evolution management needs to be provided to ensure consistency.
In this paper, we tackle the problem of RDF data co-evolution and devise an
approach for conflict resolution during co-evolution of RDF datasets. Our
proposed approach is property-oriented and allows for exploiting semantics
about RDF properties during co-evolution management. The quality of our
approach is empirically evaluated in different scenarios on the DBpedia-live
dataset. Experimental results suggest that proposed proposed techniques have a

Variation in Feed Point within Differed L-Slot Multi-frequency Microstrip Patch
A rectangular microstrip patch antenna with differed pair of L-slots is presented. The proposed antenna
is designed to evaluate the effect of alteration in probe-feed point. The proposed microstrip antenna is
suitable for bluetooth, mobile and wireless communication applications simultaneously. It is designed successfully for mobile communication systems and Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) applications. The
results obtained had showed better improvement in the return loss and radiation pattern in comparison to
the other existing antennas
Improving pregnancy outcomes in low- and middle-income countries
This paper reviews the very large discrepancies in pregnancy outcomes between high, low and middle-income countries and then presents the medical causes of maternal mortality, stillbirth and neonatal mortality in low-and middle-income countries. Next, we explore the medical interventions that were associated with the very rapid and very large declines in maternal, fetal and neonatal mortality rates in the last eight decades in high-income countries. The medical interventions likely to achieve similar declines in pregnancy-related mortality in low-income countries are considered. Finally, the quality of providers and the data to be collected necessary to achieve these reductions are discussed. It is emphasized that single interventions are unlikely to achieve important reductions in pregnancy-related mortality. Instead, improving the overall quality of pregnancy-related care across the health-care system will be necessary. The conditions that cause maternal mortality also cause stillbirths and neonatal deaths. Focusing on all three mortalities together is likely to have a larger impact than focusing on one of the mortalities alone
Distributed expertise: Qualitative study of a British network of multidisciplinary teams supporting parents of children with chronic kidney disease

Background: Long-term childhood conditions are often managed by hospital-based multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) of professionals with discipline specific expertise of a condition, in partnership with parents. However, little evidence exists on professional-parent interactions in this context. An exploration of professionals' accounts of the way they individually and collectively teach parents to manage their child's clinical care at home is, therefore, important for meeting parents' needs, informing policy and educating novice professionals. Using chronic kidney disease as an exemplar this paper reports on one aspect of a study of interactions between professionals and parents in a network of 12 children's kidney units in Britain. Methods: We conducted semi-structured, qualitative interviews with a convenience sample of 112 professionals (clinical-psychologists, dietitians, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, play-workers, therapists and social workers), exploring accounts of their parent-educative activity. We analysed data using framework and the concept of distributed expertise. Results: Four themes emerged that related to the way expertise was distributed within and across teams: (i) recognizing each other's' expertise, (ii) sharing expertise within the MDT, (iii) language interpretation, and (iv) acting as brokers. Two different professional identifications were also seen to co-exist within MDTs, with participants using the term 'we' both as the intra-professional 'we' (relating to the professional identity) when describing expertise within a disciplinary group (for example: 'As dietitians we aim to give tailored advice to optimize children's growth'), and the inter-professional 'we' (a 'team-identification'), when discussing expertise within the team (for example: 'We work as a team and make sure we're all happy with every aspect of their training before they go home'). Conclusions: This study highlights the dual identifications implicit in 'being professional' in this context (to the team and to one's profession) as well as the unique role that each member of a team contributes to children's care.
