Ogni Pensiero Vola: the embodied psyche in Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life
The Tree of Lifetouches on embodiment of the soul in an early sequence covering courtship, marriage and the first pregnancy of a young couple. In a delicate formal scene, Mrs O'Brien, nearing full term, treads gently along a river's edge summoning infant souls luminous in white linen. She opens a minute book of life to one of them, preparing his entry through the iron gates that open on embodied life. Presently, the infant soul rises up from his underwater home beyond the reach of conscious awareness: Mrs O'Brien gives birth to her first son, Jack. This is the boy who will eventually become a middle-aged man in crisis. Ravaged then by grief for his long-dead younger brother and his own inability to live at peace with his family or himself, his memories, visions and reflections accumulate in a way that makes him a suffering Hermes for the early twenty-first century. The initiating episode of the infant's birth complements the embodied and affective experiences of those in the audience who accept the film's sensual invitation to steep themselves in the immense scale of its gorgeous sounds and images. They then discover on the pulse that, more than the history of one Texan family, it attempts nothing less than the necessary re-creation of the godhead for the early twenty-first century. Contrary to the rigid medieval dogmas of so many orthodox religions,The Tree of Lifeassures us not of a changeless eternity but rather the sacred and ceaseless metamorphosis of numinous energy
The ontological consequences of Copernicus: global being in the planetary world
This article argues that contemporary space exploration, in producing visual representations of the planetary Earth for terrestrial consumption, has engendered a shift in the way the Earth - as terra firma - is both experienced and conceived. The article goes on to suggest that this shift is a key, but still largely tacit presupposition, underlying contemporary discourses on globalization and cultural cosmopolitanization. However, a close reading of some of the texts that make up the canon of 20th-century European philosophy shows that this idea of a βdeterritorializedβ planetary Earth challenges some basic presuppositions of that canon: especially its use of the pre-reflective experience of terra firma as a tropic site of intological and normative grounds. This article examines the way in which contemporary Western European philosophy - and intellectual culture generally - has responded to this challenge: and offers Deleuze and Guattariβs idea of the Earth as a βsurface without territoryβ as the most intellectually and ethically viable conception of the Earth in the age of βplanetary deterritorializationβ

Design and Research of Fishing Tools with Rational Parameters of Magnetic Systems
One of the effective methods of cleaning wells from ferromagnetic objects is the use of magnetic fishing tools. However, the known designs have a number of drawbacks. Therefore, new designs of high-efficiency fishing tools were proposed in the work. For development of these tools, magnetic systems consisting of cylindrical magnetic cores with segmented radially magnetized permanent magnets made of rare-earth materials between them were used. According to the results of theoretical research performed using the finite element method, rational parameters of the elements of the magnetic systems, namely, the length of the permanent magnets and the height of the magnetic system were established. This has made it possible to develop systems that are characterized by a maximum utilization of the power of permanent magnets. The paper presents results of experimental research into the hoisting capacity which confirm advantage of the developed fishing tools over the known counterparts. The use of new magnetic tools will increase efficiency of cleaning wells from ferromagnetic objects of varied shapes and weight during cutting βwindowsβ in the casing and in the process of drilling branch hole

Vaccination is the most effective way of protection against infectious diseases. Children with rheumaticΒ diseases (RD) are at greater risk of infection because both the disease and the therapy, administered to control it affect theΒ functions of the immune system. The paper analyzes existing data in the literature regarding the risk of vaccine-associatedΒ autoimmune reactions, as well as the efficacy and tolerability of vaccination in children with RD. Current recommendationsΒ for immunization of children with RD, published by experts, are given.ΠΠ°ΠΊΡΠΈΠ½Π°ΡΠΈΡ β Π½Π°ΠΈΠ±ΠΎΠ»Π΅Π΅ ΡΡΡΠ΅ΠΊΡΠΈΠ²Π½ΡΠΉ ΡΠΏΠΎΡΠΎΠ± Π·Π°ΡΠΈΡΡ ΠΎΡ ΠΈΠ½ΡΠ΅ΠΊΡΠΈΠΎΠ½Π½ΡΡ

Wastewater Purification TECHNOLOGY by TwoΒstage Treatment in Electrical Device of A Compact Local Installation
Wastewater generated at industrial and communal facilities is treated within the limits of permissible values established by law. The drains of transport and tourism infrastructure in most cases are cleared with local treatment facilities. For wastewater purification, the biological method is most often used, which is implemented on complex and bulky wastewater purification plants located in large areas. It is proposed to carry out wastewater purification from small objects locally using physical and electrochemical technology with compact equipment. A design of a device for treating wastewater with cylindrical electrodes located coaxially with the device casing has been developed. It is shown that at the first stage of municipal wastewater purification in a laboratory setup with the appropriate parameters (plane tilt angle in a thin-layer sedimentation tank=45Β° and voltage on the 1st electric device with a soluble anode=12 V), the purification degree from weighted to 95 is ensured, 8 %. The purification of municipal wastewater in the second stage of purification (the 2nd electric device with an inert anode at 10 V and filtering through the clinoptilolite zeolite layer) increases the purification degree from suspended to 96.1 %. Wastewater purification of a car wash in the first electric device in front of a thin-layer sedimentation tank and in the 2nd electric device with an inert anode at a voltage of 10 V and filtering through a layer of clinoptilolite zeolite increases the degree of their purification from oil products to 95.6 %. The technology with the participation of developed electrical appliances leads to an increase in the degree of wastewater purification in terms of COD to 97.0 %. which allows to reduce the pollution discharge into the environment at the level of 50β70 %
Simulation of thermomechanical processes in disc brakes of wheeled vehicles
Purpose: Ensuring the required operational reliability of disc brakes by forecasting their technical condition taking into account thermomechanical processes. Design/methodology/approach: Differential equations of rotation of a rigid body around a fixed axis are solved, it is established that the equations of motion and the equations of thermal conductivity are indirectly related. The use of these analytical dependences provides a better understanding of thermomechanical transients. Findings: The solution is obtained on the basis of the differential equation of thermal conductivity of the hyperbolic type, which does not allow an infinite velocity of propagation of temperature perturbations in contrast to the differential equation of thermal conductivity of the parabolic Fourier type. The obtained analytical dependences provide a better understanding of thermomechanical transients and develop a theoretical basis for determining stresses and heat fluxes in solving problems of reliability and durability of disc brakes. Research limitations/implications: The work uses generally accepted assumptions and limitations for thermomechanical calculations. Practical implications: It is shown, that transients in a mechanical system - a brake disk at impulse loadings cause emergence of thermal effects which arise under the influence of external loadings. Originality/value: The application of these analytical dependences provides a better understanding of thermomechanical transients and develops a theoretical basis for solving problems of reliability and durability of disc brakes
