Formal Specification and Testing of a Management Architecture
The importance of network and distributed systems management to supply and maintain services required by users has led to a demand for management facilities. Open network management is assisted by representing the system resources to be managed as objects, and providing standard services and protocols for interrogating and manipulating these objects. This paper examines the application of formal description techniques to the specification of managed objects by presenting a case study in the specification and testing of a management architecture. We describe a formal specification of a management architecture suitable for scheduling and distributing services across nodes in a distributed system. In addition, we show how formal specifications can be used to generate conformance tests for the management architecture
A Fast Hadron Freeze-out Generator
We have developed a fast Monte Carlo procedure of hadron generation allowing
one to study and analyze various observables for stable hadrons and hadron
resonances produced in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions. Particle
multiplicities are determined based on the concept of chemical freeze-out.
Particles can be generated on the chemical or thermal freeze-out hypersurface
represented by a parameterization or a numerical solution of relativistic
hydrodynamics with given initial conditions and equation of state. Besides
standard space-like sectors associated with the volume decay, the hypersurface
may also include non-space-like sectors related to the emission from the
surface of expanding system. For comparison with other models and experimental
data we demonstrate the results based on the standard parameterizations of the
hadron freeze-out hypersurface and flow velocity profile under the assumption
of a common chemical and thermal freeze-out. The C++ generator code is written
under the ROOT framework and is available for public use at

Measles outbreak reveals measles susceptibility among adults in Namibia, 2009 - 2011
Background. The World Health Organization, African Region, set the goal of achieving measles elimination by 2020. Namibia was one of seven African countries to implement an accelerated measles control strategy beginning in 1996. Following implementation of this strategy, measles incidence decreased; however, between 2009 and 2011 a major outbreak occurred in Namibia.Methods. Measles vaccination coverage data were analysed and a descriptive epidemiological analysis of the measles outbreak was conducted using measles case-based surveillance and laboratory data.Results. During 1989 - 2008, MCV1 (the first routine dose of measles vaccine) coverage increased from 56% to 73% and five supplementary immunisation activities were implemented. During the outbreak (August 2009 - February 2011), 4 605 suspected measles cases were reported; of these, 3 256 were confirmed by laboratory testing or epidemiological linkage. Opuwo, a largely rural district in north-western Namibia with nomadic populations, had the highest confirmed measles incidence (16 427 cases per million). Infants aged ≤11 months had the highest cumulative age-specific incidence (9 252 cases per million) and comprised 22% of all confirmed cases; however, cases occurred across a wide age range, including adults aged ≥30 years. Among confirmed cases, 85% were unvaccinated or had unknown vaccination history. The predominantly detected measles virus genotype was B3, circulating in concurrent outbreaks in southern Africa, and B2, previously detected in Angola.Conclusion. A large-scale measles outbreak with sustained transmission over 18 months occurred in Namibia, probably caused by importation. The wide age distribution of cases indicated measles-susceptible individuals accumulated over several decades prior to the start of the outbreak
Developing a scale for assessing coping behavior in situations of danger
Background: The paper is focused on developing a psychodiagnostic tool for assessing coping behavior in situations of danger. Studies of coping behavior became increasingly important with the beginning of the Russian invasion in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The version developed may become a reliable auxiliary tool for assessing the adaptive capacity of the personality, which is believed to be promising and of increasing importance for further studies.
Purpose: To develop a psychodiagnostic tool for assessing coping behavior in danger situations to improve the adaptive capacity of the personality.
Material and Methods: The study sample was composed of 311 responders (165 men and 146 women; mean age, 33.7 years). The study was conducted with the use of the seven-factor model of the Ways of Coping Questionnaire (WOCQ) as modified by Rodina. R-Studio software (version 1.4.1717) was used for statistical analyses of the questionnaire which included exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling, scale reliability analysis, correlation analysis and descriptive statistic analysis.
Results: The Ukrainian-language five-factor model of the Scale for Assessing Coping Behavior in Situations of Danger developed includes the following subscales: Acceptance and Passive Reliance on Support, Acceptance and Passive Pessimism, Acceptance and Passive Optimism, Acceptance and Active Fighting, and Non-Acceptance and Dissociation. Application of the method for assessing coping behavior in situations of danger is promising and of increasing importance for further studies in order to improve the adaptive capacity of the personality

Определены зависимости толщины красочного слоя от оптической плотности исследуемых оттисков
Dark states of dressed Bose-Einstein condensates
We combine the ideas of dressed Bose-Einstein condensates, where an
intracavity optical field allows one to design coupled, multicomponent
condensates, and of dark states of quantum systems, to generate a full quantum
entanglement between two matter waves and two optical waves. While the matter
waves are macroscopically populated, the two optical modes share a single
photon. As such, this system offers a way to influence the behaviour of a
macroscopic quantum system via a microscopic ``knob''.Comment: 6 pages, no figur
Surgical correction of valvular pathology in infants and children. Results and perspectives
Department of Cardiac Surgery, Republican Hospital, Chisinau, the Republic of MoldovaBackground: Valvular pathology in infants and children pose numerous problems such as valvular narrow rings, inconveniences of mechanical valves
prosthesis, accelerated degeneration of bioprosthetic valves and homografts. Valvular repair is the goal of intervention, because restoration of valvular
anatomy and function allows growth and avoids the problems of valvular substitution. When reconstruction fails or is not feasible, valve replacement
becomes inevitable. The goal of this article is to address valve surgical options for all four valve positions within the pediatric sector. We review current
literature and our practice to support our preferences.
Material and methods: A group of 205 patients under the age of 18 with valvular pathology was operated on at our institution in 1988-2006.
Results: Hospital mortality was 4.3% in aortic group and 5.4% in a mitral group of patients. Valvular repair was possible in 84% and 78.3% of each
group respectively. Aortic annuloplasty was done in 6.4% of patients. We inserted minimal 21 mm prosthesis in a mitral position and 19 mm in aortic
position. Long – term results need to be evaluated.
Conclusions: A multitude of options and surgical experiences exist. Valvular repair remains a procedure of choice in a pediatric group of patients
Fast hadron freeze-out generator, part II: noncentral collisions
The fast Monte Carlo procedure of hadron generation developed in our previous
work is extended to describe noncentral collisions of nuclei. We consider
different possibilities to introduce appropriate asymmetry of the freeze-out
hyper-surface and flow velocity profile. For comparison with other models and
experimental data we demonstrate the results based on the standard
parametrizations of the hadron freeze-out hyper-surface and flow velocity
profile assuming either a common chemical and thermal freeze-out or the
chemically frozen evolution from chemical to thermal freeze-out. The C++
generator code is written under the ROOT framework and is available for public
