Suggested Course of Study for Industrial Drawing in Oklahoma High Schools

    Get PDF
This course of study for two years of industrial drawing in Oklahoma high schools was formulated with the purpose of aiding drawing teachers in organizing and adding to their own course of study. Included are such aids as objectices, teaching methods, equipment list, textbooks, a suggested course outline for one year of general drawing with brief introductions to special fields of drawing. The last year includes work in mechanical drawing and in architectural drawing and house planning. Many helpful aids and hints to the drawing teacher may be found in the appendices, along with sources of testing material, recommended textbooks and periodicals, drawings for use in producing drawing room furniture, and a plan which is suggested for a drawing room arrangement. The writer believes this suggested course of study will be helpful in aiding drawing teachers to formulate their own course of srufy that will meet the needs of their particular students. This course of study has been designed with the thought in mind that it will serve only as a suggested aid to the teacher in planning his own course in drawing.Industrial Arts Educatio

Use of Single Board Computers as Smart Sensors in the Manufacturing Industry

    Get PDF
The continuously growing presence of cyber-physical systems in the industry, especially in the field of processes automation and control, represents the paradigm of the so called fourth industrial revolution, in which the systems are smarter, faster and more optimized by means of artificial intelligence, control systems and sensors networks. The presence of ICT and automation systems guarantees energy and other resources efficiency along the whole value chain of industrial processes. Especially important is the case of the smart sensors, in which a conventional sensor is equipped with interfacing methodologies for signal processing and decision making. In this article the capabilities of using a single board computer as a smart sensor are explored.Postprint (published version

    The GHZ/W-calculus contains rational arithmetic

Graphical calculi for representing interacting quantum systems serve a number of purposes: compositionally, intuitive graphical reasoning, and a logical underpinning for automation. The power of these calculi stems from the fact that they embody generalized symmetries of the structure of quantum operations, which, for example, stretch well beyond the Choi-Jamiolkowski isomorphism. One such calculus takes the GHZ and W states as its basic generators. Here we show that this language allows one to encode standard rational calculus, with the GHZ state as multiplication, the W state as addition, the Pauli X gate as multiplicative inversion, and the Pauli Z gate as additive inversion.Comment: In Proceedings HPC 2010, arXiv:1103.226

The Serre spectral sequence of a noncommutative fibration for de Rham cohomology

For differential calculi on noncommutative algebras, we construct a twisted de Rham cohomology using flat connections on modules. This has properties similar, in some respects, to sheaf cohomology on topological spaces. We also discuss generalised mapping properties of these theories, and relations of these properties to corings. Using this, we give conditions for the Serre spectral sequence to hold for a noncommutative fibration. This might be better read as giving the definition of a fibration in noncommutative differential geometry. We also study the multiplicative structure of such spectral sequences. Finally we show that some noncommutative homogeneous spaces satisfy the conditions to be such a fibration, and in the process clarify the differential structure on these homogeneous spaces. We also give two explicit examples of differential fibrations: these are built on the quantum Hopf fibration with two different differential structures.Comment: LaTeX, 33 page

High faecal carriage of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL-PE) among hospitalized patients at Sylvanus Olympio Teaching Hospital, Lomé, Togo in 2019

Background: Extended-spectrum beta-lactamase producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL-PE) are a global health concern, associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Even in the absence of infections, colonization by these pathogens is still a great threat because of the risk of cross transfer among hospitalized patients. Faecal carriage of ESBL-PE remained poorly documented in Africa. This study aimed to determine faecal carriage rate of ESBL-PE, factors associated with carriage, and antimicrobial susceptibility of the strains among hospitalized patients at Sylvanus Olympio Teaching Hospitals (CHU SO) in Lomé, Togo. Methodology: This was a cross-sectional study of 105 randomly selected hospitalized patients between September and November 2019. Socio-demographic and clinical data as well as rectal swabs were collected after obtaining the consent of the selected participants. Rectal swabs were cultured on selective bromocresol purple (BCP) lactose agar containing 6µg/l ceftazidime, for isolation of Enterobacteriaceae. Identification of each isolate was performed using Uriselect 4 medium and API 20E. Antibiotic susceptibility of the bacterial isolates was performed by the Bauer-Kirby agar disc diffusion test and interpreted according to CASFM-EUCAST recommendations. Results: The faecal carriage rate of ESBL-PE among selected hospitalized patients was 80.9% (85/105). Escherichia coli was the most frequent bacteria 69.5% (73/105), followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae 22.8% (24/105). The antibiotic profile of ESBL producing Escherichia coli showed resistance to amoxycillin+clavulanic acid (72.6%), ticarcillin+clavulanic acid (82.2%), piperacillin+tazobactam (30.1%), cefoxitin (30.1%) ciprofloxacin (84.9%), levofloxacin (76.7%), nalidixic acid (83.6%), chloramphenicol (26.0%), gentamicin (49.3%), sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim (86.3%), imipenem (5.5%), and ertapenem (21.9%). All (100%) isolates were sensitive to amikacin and fosfomycin. None of the characteristics or risk factors assessed was significantly associated with faecal carriage of ESBL-PE. Conclusion: Faecal carriage rate of ESBL-PE in these hospitalized patients was very high, but no factor was associated with carriage of ESBL-PE among the study population. Implementation of infection control measures, and surveillance are needed to limit the spread of these resistant pathogens within CHU SO healthcare facilities

Three qubit entanglement within graphical Z/X-calculus

The compositional techniques of categorical quantum mechanics are applied to analyse 3-qubit quantum entanglement. In particular the graphical calculus of complementary observables and corresponding phases due to Duncan and one of the authors is used to construct representative members of the two genuinely tripartite SLOCC classes of 3-qubit entangled states, GHZ and W. This nicely illustrates the respectively pairwise and global tripartite entanglement found in the W- and GHZ-class states. A new concept of supplementarity allows us to characterise inhabitants of the W class within the abstract diagrammatic calculus; these method extends to more general multipartite qubit states.Comment: In Proceedings HPC 2010, arXiv:1103.226

The final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-03741-2_26Proceedings of Third International Conference, CALCO 2009, Udine, Italy, September 7-10, 2009.Model-to-model (M2M) transformation consists in trans- forming models from a source to a target language. Many transformation languages exist, but few of them combine a declarative and relational style with a formal underpinning able to show properties of the transformation. Pattern-based transformation is an algebraic, bidirectional, and relational approach to M2M transformation. Specifications are made of patterns stating the allowed or forbidden relations between source and target models, and then compiled into low level operational mechanisms to perform source-to-target or target-to-source transformations. In this paper, we study the compilation into operational triple graph grammar rules and show: (i) correctness of the compilation of a specification without negative patterns; (ii) termination of the rules, and (iii) completeness, in the sense that every model considered relevant can be built by the rules.Work supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, projects METEORIC (TIN2008-02081), MODUWEB (TIN2006-09678) and FORMALISM (TIN2007-66523).
