    Deer Frozen Semen Quality in Tris Sucrose and Tris Glucose Extender with Different Glycerol Concentrations

    In order to improve Timor deer (Cervus timorensis) frozen semen quality, the influence of sugar and glycerol concentration on semen characteristics of sperm was investigated. The semen was collected from five sexually mature Timor deer using an electroejaculator. The semen was evaluated and divided into six equal tubes and diluted with Tris sucrose glycerol 10% (TSG10); Tris sucrose glycerol 12% (TSG12); Tris sucrose glycerol 14% (TSG14); Tris glucose glycerol 10% (TGG10); Tris glucose glycerol 12% (TGG12); and Tris glucose glycerol 14% (TGG14). The diluted semen was packed in 0.3 ml minitub straw, equilibrated at 5 oC for 4 hours and frozen on liquid nitrogen vapor for 10 minutes. The total of forward motility, viability, acrosome integrity and membrane integrity were assessed in fresh, after equilibration and after thawing. Results demonstrated that the percentage of sperm motility in TSG10was higher (P (63.93±7.23%). The sperm in TSG10 and TSG14 extender were superior in acrosome as well as in membrane integrity. It was concluded that Tris Sucrose with 10% glycerol protected Timor deer sperm better than other combinations

    The Quality of Stallion Semen in Skim Milk and Dimitropoulos Extenders Preserved at 5 oC and Ambient Temperature Supplemented with Different Sugar

    This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of sugars supplementation in skim milk based (SM) and dimitropoulos (DV) extenders on the sperm motility and viability in stallion semen storage at 5 oC and ambient temperature (24-29 oC). Semen samples were collected from 3 stallions; evaluate individually and each of them divided into 8 aliquots. Four out of eight aliquots were diluted 1:1 with SM, while the remaining four were diluted 1:1 with DV; all were then centrifuged at 1006 g (3000 RPM) for 15 min. The supernatants were discarded, and each pellet was re-diluted with SM (control), SM trehalose (SMT), SM-raffinose (SMR), SM-fructose (SMF), DV (control), DV-trehalose (DVT), DV-raffinose (DVR), and DV-fructose (DVF). The diluted semen were divided into 2 aliquots and stored at 5 oC or ambient temperature. The sperm motility and viability were evaluated every 3 h on chilled semen stored at ambient temperature, and every 12 h on those stored at 5 oC. Results of the experiments demonstrated that sperm motility and viability in DV extender significantly higher (P < 0.05) in both temperature. The supplementation of fructose was the best on the motility and viability of the sperm at both temperatures compare to trehalose, raffinose, or the control group. The best extender and sugar combination was DVF, which the total motile sperm stored at 5 oC for 96 h was 45.1% followed by to DVT (40.2%) and DVR (39.2%). The sperm motility in DV and SMF were 35.3% and 35.6%, respectively; these were higher than those diluted with control (28.9%); SMT (30.3%), and SMR (29.6%). The study concluded that the supplementation of fructose in DV extender (DVF) was the best combination to preserve stallion sperm motility and viability stored at 5 oC or ambient temperature

    Capaian Standar Nasional Pendidikan Sebagai Prediktor Mutu Sekolah

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi tentang capaian Standar Nasional Pendidikan sebagai prediktor atau yang berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap mutu sekolah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif.Penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder dari BAN-SM Tahun 2015. Dari data tersebut dipilih 506 sekolah sampel yaitu propinsi yang mendapat akreditasi A dan diurutkan mulai dari skor terendah sampai yang tertinggi untuk dibuat kuantil skor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, pertama, berdasarkan sekolah hasil akreditasi A dan dikelompokkan pada kuantil rata-rata capaian UN tidak menunjukkan perbedaan antarkuantil 3, 4 dan 5 secara signifikan. Kedua, pengaruh pemenuhan kedelapan Standar Nasional Pendidikan terhadap pencapaian mutu sekolah (Nilai UN) secara bersama-sama (simultan) signifikan secara statistik. Dari kedelapan SNP, yang memiliki pengaruh signfikan terhadap mutu sekolah adalah standar Isi, Kompetensi Lulusan, Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan, Sarana & Prasarana, serta Pengelolaan. Dengan demikian, hanya ada lima standar yang berpengaruh secara positif dan signifikan terhadap pencapaian mutu sekolah. Sementara tiga standar lainnya yaitu standar proses, standar pembiayaan, dan standar penilaian berpengaruh positif tetapi tidak signifikan

    Successful Intracervical Insemination and Characteristics of Anoa (Bubalus SP.) Parturation Behavior in Captivity

    Anoa, which is the endemic animal in Indonesia, its population is unevitably decreasing, therefore anoa included in the list of endangered species by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The experiment was aimed to apply the artificial insemination (AI) technique for anoa and to examine their parturition behavior. The experiment involved 2 males and 5 females anoa at Taman Safari Indonesia Bogor. Semen was collected by electroejaculator, then evaluated and diluted in Tris-egg yolk extender. The anesthetized estrous females were inseminated intracervically with extended semen (100x106 sperm/1.0 mL). Females which did not show estrous signs during 2-3 cycles after AI were predicted pregnant, and therefore confirmed by ultrasonography. As a comparison, another predicted-pregnant female after natural mating was scanned. The results showed that intracervical AI resulted pregnancy in one female, and the gestation period of anoa was ranged from 313 d (AI) to 324 d (natural mating). There were three stages of parturition process was observed: Stage 1 was characterized by the abdominal contraction and amniotic membrane rupture, Stage 2 was characterized by the fetal expulsions, and Stage 3 was characterized by the placental expulsions and ingestion of placenta by the dam. The duration of each stage of parturition was 6-8 h (stage 1), 30-60 min (stage 2), and 15-180 min (stage 3). It is concluded that AI technique was applicable to anoa in captivity, and the parturation behavior of anoa was comparable to buffalo and cattle.     THE EFFECT OF GLYCEROL CONCENTRATION IN TRIS GLUCOSE EGG YOLK EXTENDER ON THE QUALITY OF TIMOR DEER FROZEN SEMEN

    The aims of study was to compare the glycerol concentration in Tris glucose egg yolk (TGEY) diluents on the quality of deer frozen semen. Semen was collected from 5 Timor deer using electroejaculator. Immediately after collection the semen was evaluated macroscopic and microscopically. After initial evaluation, the semen was divided into three tubes and extended with Tris egg yolk with three different glycerol concentrations, which were 10% (TGEY10); 12% (TGEY12) and 14% (TGEY14). The sperm motility, viability, acrosome intact and membrane intact were evaluated in raw semen, after equilibration and after thawing. The results showed that there were no differences (p>0.05) on the sperm motility, viability as well as sperm acrosome intact. Sperm membrane intact in TGEY10 (52.50±5.89%) and TGEY14 (51.50±4.12 %) were higher (p<0.05) than in TGEY12 (49.00±6.58). It was concluded that 10, 12 or 14% glycerol concentration can be used for Timor deer semen cryopreservation

    Recycling of aluminium aerospace alloys represents a major challenge to both the aluminium and aerospace industries. Ecological manageability in assembling is these days is a dire and exceptional issue and the principle concerns are identified with increasingly proficient utilization of energy and materials. Recycling allowed saving large amount greenhouse gas emission, particularly in the case of aluminium. Metal matrix composites spur the possibility of advancing typical monolithic material properties. Offering great strength, lightweight and being able to withstand high temperatures are the main behaviours of the metal matrix composite. To that extent, many practitioners in either automotive or aerospace industries employed metal matrix composite in most of the critical parts. Forming metal matrix composite via solid state processing is considered innovative, as most of the metal matrix composite forming process took place either in liquid or gaseous processing. An experimental investigation was conducted to investigate the mechanical properties of a recycled aluminium shifting alumina sum from 1 to 5 wt. % that had been presented to recycled aluminium chip employing hot press forging. Aluminium chip was obtained by milling AA7075-T1 bulk to a certain parameter. The medium size chips were cleaned, dried and mixed with alumina particles before being poured into a closed-die mould. The main responses investigated were ultimate tensile strength and elongation to failure and microstructure analysis. Out of all fractions, 4 wt. % of alumina shows the highest Ultimate tensile strength when the value increased from 155.214 MPa (1 wt. %) to 187.183 MPa. Further addition of alumina would enhance the composite strength, but in contrary, it also could prone the material performance

Determining the risk ranks from the factors in labor recruitment could support in attaining the suitable corrective action in order to anticipate any variances occurred. AHP (Analytical Hierarchial Process) method can be used to determine the weight/score of the factors.
