Electric Transport Theory of Dirac Fermions in Graphene
Using the self-consistent Born approximation to the Dirac fermions under
finite-range impurity scatterings, we show that the current-current correlation
function is determined by four-coupled integral equations. This is very
different from the case for impurities with short-range potentials. As a test
of the present approach, we calculate the electric conductivity in graphene for
charged impurities with screened Coulomb potentials. The obtained conductivity
at zero temperature varies linearly with the carrier concentration, and the
minimum conductivity at zero doping is larger than the existing theoretical
predictions, but still smaller than that of the experimental measurement. The
overall behavior of the conductivity obtained by the present calculation at
room temperature is similar to that at zero temperature except the minimum
conductivity is slightly larger.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure
Adolescent Developmental Assets and Service Leadership
In the field of positive youth development, it is generally asserted that developmental assets or positive youth development qualities contribute to positive adolescent developmental outcomes. In the context of training for service leadership, it is argued that the promotion of developmental assets would help university students develop the foundational competence of service leaders. In this paper, the lesson plan of Lecture Eleven in a course entitled “Service Leadership” run in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is discussed. In the lecture, four developmental assets related to positive identity (self-esteem, self-efficacy, purpose in life and optimism about the future) proposed by Peter Benson are presented. In addition, the possible contribution of different developmental assets to the development of service leadership is highlighted. Moreover, students are encouraged to reflect on their self-identity and explore effective ways to promote their positive self-image
Focus Group Evaluation of a Service Leadership Subject in Hong Kong
Two focus groups with six randomly selected students were conducted to understand the views and experiences of students taking a subject entitled “Service Leadership” at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Several observations were highlighted from the findings. First, students generally had positive views of the subject. Second, students felt that they had positive experience in the subject. Third, the instructors were seen in a positive light by the students. Fourth, the students perceived the subject to be beneficial to their development. Fifth, students had positive impression about the subject. Finally, recommendations regarding time allocation, teaching style, and classroom environment were expressed by the students
Restrictions and Stability of Time-Delayed Dynamical Networks
This paper deals with the global stability of time-delayed dynamical
networks. We show that for a time-delayed dynamical network with
non-distributed delays the network and the corresponding non-delayed network
are both either globally stable or unstable. We demonstrate that this may not
be the case if the network's delays are distributed. The main tool in our
analysis is a new procedure of dynamical network restrictions. This procedure
is useful in that it allows for improved estimates of a dynamical network's
global stability. Moreover, it is a computationally simpler and much more
effective means of analyzing the stability of dynamical networks than the
procedure of isospectral network expansions introduced in [Isospectral graph
transformations, spectral equivalence, and global stability of dynamical

is illustrated by applications to various classes of Cohen-Grossberg neural

Finite-time Singularities in Surface-Diffusion Instabilities are Cured by Plasticity
A free material surface which supports surface diffusion becomes unstable
when put under external non-hydrostatic stress. Since the chemical potential on
a stressed surface is larger inside an indentation, small shape fluctuations
develop because material preferentially diffuses out of indentations. When the
bulk of the material is purely elastic one expects this instability to run into
a finite-time cusp singularity. It is shown here that this singularity is cured
by plastic effects in the material, turning the singular solution to a regular

The complex morphology of the young disk MWC 758: Spirals and dust clumps around a large cavity
We present Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) observations at an angular
resolution of 0.1-0.2" of the disk surrounding the young Herbig Ae star MWC
758. The data consist of images of the dust continuum emission recorded at 0.88
millimeter, as well as images of the 13CO and C18O J = 3-2 emission lines. The
dust continuum emission is characterized by a large cavity of roughly 40 au in
radius which might contain a mildly inner warped disk. The outer disk features
two bright emission clumps at radii of about 47 and 82 au that present
azimuthal extensions and form a double-ring structure. The comparison with
radiative transfer models indicates that these two maxima of emission
correspond to local increases in the dust surface density of about a factor 2.5
and 6.5 for the south and north clumps, respectively. The optically thick 13CO
peak emission, which traces the temperature, and the dust continuum emission,
which probes the disk midplane, additionally reveal two spirals previously
detected in near-IR at the disk surface. The spirals seen in the dust continuum
emission present, however, a slight shift of a few au towards larger radii and
one of the spirals crosses the south dust clump. Finally, we present different

Time evolution in the Morse potential using supersymmetry: dissociation of the NO molecule
We present an algebraic method for treating molecular vibrations in the Morse
potential perturbed by an external laser field. By the help of a complete and
normalizable basis we transform the Schr\"{o}dinger equation into a system of
coupled ordinary differential equations. We apply our method to calculate the
dissociation probability of the NO molecule excited by chirped laser pulses.
The dependence of the molecular dipole-moment on the interatomic separation is
determined by a quantum-chemical method, and the corresponding transition
dipole moments are given by approximate analytic expressions. These turn out to
be very small between neighboring stationary states around the vibrational
quantum number , therefore we propose to use additional pulses in order
to skip this trapping state, and to obtain a reasonable dissociation

The investigation of time-varying synchrony of EEG during sentence learning using wavelet analysis
The synchrony analysis has been used as a tool for the purpose of investigating how the cognitive processes take place between different brain regions when the specified learning task is going on. We propose a novel method based on the time-frequency representation for quantifying synchronization between two channel EEG with both temporal and spectral resolution. The presented method employed the wavelet transform for cross coherent spectral analysis of the EEG signals recorded during sentences recognizing and learning. The wavelet-coherent magnitude spectra provide the information indicating the degree of coherence and the cross-wavelet phase relation serves to indicate the direction of information flow between two EEG channels on different cortical regions. Real EEG recordings are collected based on a cognitive target. It is observed from both the magnitude spectra and phase of the wavelet coherence that there are obvious differences between the identification of both Chinese and English sentences.
