The “Asociación Colombiana de Infectología” (ACIN) and the “Instituto de Evaluación de Nuevas Tecnologías de la Salud” (IETS) created a task force to develop recommendations for Covid 19 health care diagnosis, management and treatment informed, and based, on evidence. Theses reccomendations are addressed to the health personnel on the Colombian context of health services. © 2020 Asociacion Colombiana de Infectologia. All rights reserved
Disposable sensors in diagnostics, food and environmental monitoring
Disposable sensors are low‐cost and easy‐to‐use sensing devices intended for short‐term or rapid single‐point measurements. The growing demand for fast, accessible, and reliable information in a vastly connected world makes disposable sensors increasingly important. The areas of application for such devices are numerous, ranging from pharmaceutical, agricultural, environmental, forensic, and food sciences to wearables and clinical diagnostics, especially in resource‐limited settings. The capabilities of disposable sensors can extend beyond measuring traditional physical quantities (for example, temperature or pressure); they can provide critical chemical and biological information (chemo‐ and biosensors) that can be digitized and made available to users and centralized/decentralized facilities for data storage, remotely. These features could pave the way for new classes of low‐cost systems for health, food, and environmental monitoring that can democratize sensing across the globe. Here, a brief insight into the materials and basics of sensors (methods of transduction, molecular recognition, and amplification) is provided followed by a comprehensive and critical overview of the disposable sensors currently used for medical diagnostics, food, and environmental analysis. Finally, views on how the field of disposable sensing devices will continue its evolution are discussed, including the future trends, challenges, and opportunities
Colombian consensus recommendations for diagnosis, management and treatment of the infection by SARS-COV-2/ COVID-19 in health care facilities - Recommendations from expert´s group based and informed on evidence
This document contains the synthesis of the research "Intervention for the strengthening of volunteer
participation in Canton Gonzanamá, province of Loja, in community work from the beginning of self-
development," carried out within the framework of the Master's in Community Development of the
University National of Loja. Its purpose is to make known the difficulties generated by the weak
participation of the members of the communities. This research was developed from the perspective
and methodology offered by the Community Self-Development, the same that through field work,
with the community and volunteering, it was determined with critical awareness the little
understanding of what is participation, the low level educational, the lack of tools to face a demanding
public, ignorance of their role, results that have allowed the community work process to float;
therefore it is determined that the communities need to be the object of intervention for the
strengthening of them.
Rotavirus infection in Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit
Rotavirus acute gastroenteritis, continues to be one of the most common cause of morbidity in children younger than 2 years of age. However, it is not often to report outbreaks in neonatal intensive care units. The aim of this paper was to describe the epidemiological investigation of a Rotavirus outbreak, the viral transmission between infants and the control measures taken.
Materials and Methods: An outbrake study was performed in a neonatal intermediate care unit due to the presence of Rotavirus gastroenteritis cases.
Results: We identified 3 rotavirus gastroenteritis cases confirmed by direct antigen detection, the source could not be identified.
Discussion: We considered a transmission mechanism of propagated source because infected people excreted large number of viral particles and cause widespread environmental contamination. Conclusion: Quickly case identification and implemented implemen- tation of control measures prevent new cases and limits the spread of the outbreak
