'Spiritual life' as the heart of the professionalization process of spriritual and community animators in Quebec, Canada

The ‘spiritual care and guidance and community involvement service’ in Quebec has existed since 2001. It replaced pastoral animation in schools and is intended to promote the spiritual development and community involvement of all students, whether or not they are affiliated with a religion. This article presents the historical background that led to the development of this service; as well as the professional concerns of its stakeholders. The concerns raised are based on awareness of great diversity among those who provide this service, both in their training and in their understanding of the meanings of the terms that define their work. Presently working toward the professionalization that they deem essential to their very survival, they are using professional strategies that do not reflect their reality and abilities. This article seeks to demonstrate the relevance of changing perspectives so that this profession is not limited only to community involvement, but instead adopts an interactionist point of view, focused on the spiritual aspect of the role

Prospects for e+e- physics at Frascati between the phi and the psi

We present a detailed study, done in the framework of the INFN 2006 Roadmap, of the prospects for e+e- physics at the Frascati National Laboratories. The physics case for an e+e- collider running at high luminosity at the phi resonance energy and also reaching a maximum center of mass energy of 2.5 GeV is discussed, together with the specific aspects of a very high luminosity tau-charm factory. Subjects connected to Kaon decay physics are not discussed here, being part of another INFN Roadmap working group. The significance of the project and the impact on INFN are also discussed. All the documentation related to the activities of the working group can be found in http://www.roma1.infn.it/people/bini/roadmap.html.Comment: INFN Roadmap Report: 86 pages, 25 figures, 9 table

As the second phase of our study of the atmospheric ozone formation potentials of constituents of aluminum rolling mill emissions, a series of environmental chamber experiments and computer model simulations were carried out to assess the atmospheric ozone formation potentials of the selected cycloalkanes hexyl cyclohexane and octyl cyclohexane. The experiments consisted of determining the effects on NO oxidation, ozone formation and OH radical levels when adding the compounds to varying simulated model photochemical smog systems. The chamber experiments employed both blacklight and xenon arc light sources. These data supplemented similar experiments carried out previously on C 12 - C 16 normal alkanes. Like the C 12 normal alkanes, these cycloalkanes were found to be strong inhibitors of radical levels, inhibited rates of NO oxidation and O 3 formation in experiments that are sensitive to radical effects, but had only relatively small effects on O 3 in experiments more representative of atmospheric conditions
