In conventional seismic processing, the classical algorithm of Hubral and Krey is routinely applied to extract at? initial macrovelocity model that consists of a stack of homogeneous layers bounded by curved interfaces. Input for the algorithm are identified primary, reflections together with normal moveout (NMO) velocities, as derived from a previous velocity analysis conducted on common midpoint (CMP) data. This work presents a modified version of the Hubral and Krey algorithm that is designed to extend the original version in two ways, namely (a) it makes an advantageous use of previously obtained common-reflection-surface (CRS) attributes as its input and (b) it also allows for gradient layer velocities in depth. A new strategy to recover interfaces as optimized cubic splines is also proposed. Some synthetic examples are provided to illustrate and explain the implementation of the method. In conventional seismic processing, the classical algorithm of Hubral and Krey is routinely applied to extract at? initial macrovelocity model that consists of a stack of homogeneous layers bounded by curved interfaces. The objective of this study is to develop a novel system for local application of DOX either in surgical loci or in a topical application device enabling a controlled release of the drug. The developed system involves the encapsulation of DOX into electrospun polymeric nanofibers. Chosen polymers were polyoxyethilene (PEO) and polycaprolactone (PCL).This work was supported by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) in the framework of the Strategic Funding UID/FIS/04650/2013. TRUVADA is the only medication approved by FDA for pre-exposure prophylaxis of the HIV infection. They are tablets with fixed dosages of two antiretroviral compounds for daily oral uptake: Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) and Emtricitabine (EMT) that are reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Objectives: Incorporate TDF and EMT drugs in polymeric nanofibers produced by electrospinning; chosen polymers were polyoxyethilene (PEO) and polycaprolactone (PCL). Characterize the nanofibers and study the in vitro release profile of the drugs. Evaluate the possibility of a topical administration of the loaded fibers , by rectal or genital route, for HIV infection prophylaxis.: We thank PARALAB for the SEM analysis and Dr. A. S. Azevedo for the X-ray analysis. TDF/FTC electrospun nanofibers for topical prevention of HIV transmission

    Get PDF
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is still a problem for global health so, there is a strong need to develop effective microbicides that can be used safely to protect from infection during sexual intercourse. This pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) may be formulations containing oral or topical microbicides. Topical formulations have advantages as they are suitable for vaginal or rectal application and allow a higher local concentration of drug. It is recognized that the use of electrospun nanofibers for drug carriers is very promising in the biomedical field. So, the objective of this study is to develop a novel device for local application of antiretroviral microbicides enabling a controlled release of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) and emtricitabine (FTC), based on electrospun polymeric nanofibers. The aim of this study is to encapsulate TDF and FTC into electrospun polymeric nanofibers. Chosen polymers were polycaprolactone (PCL) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA).info:eu-repo/semantics/submittedVersio

A study was performed to verify the relationship between the least significative difference in mean percentage (LSD%) of the variable grain yield and the mean and experimental error of the morphological characteristics observed throughout the experiment cultivar cicle, and the number of treatments in corn. Using data from a net of corn cultivars trials in the Rio Grande do Sul State, a pathy analysis was carried out, with LSD% as the main variable and as explaining variables some other variables measured in the trials. The results showed that variables such as grain yield, plant height, heigth of the ear and the final number of plants in corn, with more homogeneous values inside each trial, lead to a smaller mean square error, which reproved the experimental precision.Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias y Forestale

The present paper deals with study of the resistance against five antibiotics in a phytopathogenic bacterium Xanthomonas campestris (Pammel) Dowson. When the antibiotics were added to the solid medium in which the bacteria were grown, the colonies resistant to the streptomycin and erythromycin appeared even in the highest concentration used; as to the penicillin, aureomycin and cloranfenicol when in concentrations higher than 200 mcg/ml, 0,3 mcg/ml and 128 mcg/ml respectively, resistant colonies did not appear. So, the results show that the penicillin was the least efficient antibiotic and aureomycin the most effetive to Xanthomonas campestris.
