Repaso histórico a manera de somera revisión de los puntos y las ten dencias que han marcado la evolución y los estudios sobre teoría de la Docu mentación en la década de 1990 en España. Hombre y documento: del homo sapiens al homo documentator

Reflections on the anthropological implications of the use by humans of documentary technologies. Various in vogue essays, that study the impact of the information technologies on the concept of human being, are analysed; and their thesis are put in relation with the theory of document-based information. An anthropological path is proposed, begining with the homo sapiens, passing through the homo videns and arriving to the homo digitalis. After considering the limitations of the last paradigm, the anthropology of the homo documentalis (documented person) —a citizen capable of creating and consuming culture and science and a domestic cosmopolite— is assumed and proposed. If such a documented man, his own documentalist, finds insuperable difficulties in retrieving Scire. 4 : 2 (jul.-dic. 1998) 11-22. information, he should be assisted by the homo documentator, a new profile of documentalist adapted to the information society, whose main characteristics are analysedReflexión sobre las implicaciones antropológicas de la utilización por el ser humano de las tecnologías documentales. Se analizan varios ensayos de gran actualidad que estudian el impacto de las tecnologías de la información sobre el concepto de ser humano, poniendo en relación sus tesis con la teoría de la información documental. Se propone una trayectoria antropológica que parte del homo sapiens, pasa por el homo videns y aboca al homo digitalis. Frente a las limitaciones antropológicas que este último paradigma impone, se asume y propone la antropología del `hombre documental' (homo documentalis) un ciudadano intelectual capaz de crear y consumir responsablemente ciencia y cultura, y un cosmopolita doméstico. Aspectos cuantitativos y temáticos de la producción científica del Departamento de Biblioteconomía y Documentación de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1984-2003)

Using a methodology based on the cites received by the researchers of the “Biblioteconomía y Documentación” Area of the UCM, a study about main researchers and publications is done, also taking into account the influence of the UCM in other academic and profesional institutions, and the more relevant topics covered. It is a case study previous to the qualitative analysis of the cites, that is described and considered as a valid tool to improve the results of the traditional quantitative method

Problemas relativos a la evaluación investigadora de los profesores universitarios del área de Biblioteconomía y Documentación

En el ámbito de la cultura de la evaluación, los estudiosos y profesionales se ven sometidos cada vez más al juicio crítico de su actividad investigadora. En el presente artículo se enumeran los diversos estadios en que dicha actividad es evaluada por las distintas administraciones públicas; se estudian los criterios de evaluación más habitualmente empleados, entre los que figuran la evaluación por expertos iguales (peer review); las revistas de reconocido prestigio y las normas para evaluar las tesis doctorales. Finalmente, el autor postula un nuevo criterio: el análisis de las citas de calidad recibidas por los autores sometidos a evaluación a fin de conocer la auténtuica aportación a su campo científico.It is a fact of today’s scientific culture that the quality of research carried out by academics and professionals is being continuously assessed. This article reviews the various stages in which this research activity is assessed by the different public administrations and analyses the most popular evaluation methods employed, including peer review, publication in prestigious journals and the normative criteria required to evaluate the quality of doctoral dissertations. Finally, the author proposes a new set of evaluation criteria based on quality citation received by the authors undergoing the assessment with a view to determining their real contribution to their scientific field
