Winds as an environmental factor can cause significant difficulties for the railway system operation. The railway overhead has been particularly vulnerable to cross-winds related problems, such as development of undamped oscillations due to galloping phenomenon. The installation of windbreaks to decrease the aerodynamic loads on the train can affect the loads on railway overheads triggering cable galloping. One essential parameter to indicate the influence of the parapet wake on the catenary contact wire is the turbulence intensity. In this paper the results of an experimental analysis of the turbulence intensity due to the presence of parapets carried out in a wind tunnel are reported. Embankments equipped with different parapets have been tested and turbulence intensity has been measured at both contact wire locations, windward and leeward. The relative influence of the parapets is measured through a reduced turbulence intensity, defined as the ratio between the turbulence intensity measured with parapet and the turbulence intensity in the case without any parapet on the embankment. In general the reduced turbulence intensity increases as the height of the parapet increases

Network perspective of histamine related diseases

    Get PDF
Histamine is the most pleiotropic biogenic amine. Produced and stored by a limited set of cells—histaminergic neurons, enterochromaffin-like cells, and mast cells—it broadcasts intercellular communication signals to a wide variety of cell types through its tissue-specific receptors. The many molecular interactions of these receptors and other mediators result in complex cellular networks whose alteration result in disease. Therefore, complex diseases map to modules of these cellular networks in the diseasomes. In this communication, we survey the histamine cellular networks to map the histamine diseasome, presenting a network view of the pleiotropy of histamine and its role in several complex diseases.A.A. In this work, we analyze the effect of labour flexibility on productivity in the Andalusian hotel industry. For this purpose, we use the data obtained by the Quality, Productivity and Competitiveness in the Hospitality Industry for Andalusia project (PO7/SEJ-02889). Using a expanded version of the Cobb-Douglas production function, the model distinguishes two employment shares: full-time permanent (standard work) and temporary plus part-time employees (non-standard work). Our results indicate that productivity in Andalusian hotels is lower the higher the percentage of temporary and part-time workers. Furthermore, there are no statistically significant differences between the negative impact on productivity of both types of labour contract. However, since the costs associated with both temporary and part-time workers are lower than those of workers with full-time permanent contracts, future studies should analyze the differential impact of all the types of contracts discussed on the mean cost per employee in hotels.

    Get PDF

A Decision Tree and S-Transform Based Approach for Power Quality Disturbances Classification

    Get PDF
In this paper, it is presented an automated classification based on S-transform as feature extraction tool and Decision Tree as algorithm classifier. The signals generated according to mathematical models, including complex disturbances, have been used to design and test this approach, where noise is added to the signals from 40dB to 20dB. Finally, several disturbances, simple and complex, have been considered to test the implemented system. Evaluation results verifying the accuracy of the proposed method are presented.IEE

This research was carried out at Miguel de Cervantes High School of 10th grade students in the morning shift during the second semester of the year 2016. During some observations, it was analyzed that there are certain weaknesses that learners present. One of the most essential is in the listening skill in which the teacher strategies and the didactic materials that she applies are not effective for the learning process. To support what was identified it was necessary to apply surveys to twenty (20) students and the English teacher. In the surveys were asked several questions regarding to the strategies that the instructor employs and didactic materials that she uses during listening lessons. Through the learner’ responses it is confirmed that students present a poor listening understanding due to the inappropriate strategies and the lack of didactic materials, these factors make the learner face difficulties at the moment of listening a track; as a result, the learners feel overwhelmed, bored, lost, confused and they do not succeed in this skill. Therefore, this also affects the teaching process; the instructor might not achieve her objectives. Teacher must find the most suitable strategies for learners and make use of the available didactic materials in order to create a successful learning process. Therefore, it is recommended that the educator applies some techniques such as: songs and videos because they are entertaining, students prefer them and of course they will learn and will improve their listening skill. In order that the instructor applies these techniques she needs to take learners more often to the technology classrooms. The correct format when teaching a listening lesson, during the prelistening stage for instance, in which the teacher must look for the unknown vocabulary that appears in the track and teach that vocabulary to learners; as a result, students will find the track a little bit easier, also it is vital that the educator teaches first the grammar tense that is going to be listened in the track. If these recommendations are taken into account, the teaching- learning process will improve

In a population of 40 patients of a Hospital of Second Level of Care, the grade of compliance of the F1-PIVUPSVI / 02 format obtained a low overall compliance. It was found a finding a significant dependence between the academic degree and the compliance degree. It can be observed a slight increase in compliance according to the academic degree. Among the nine criteria, bag level, id and connected drainage was the most complied, and those of low compliance were hygienic and guidance measures. In terms of category, specialists in nursing report better compliance, the general nurses and graduates in nursing achieve the least compliance. Intensive therapy ranked first in compliance. For the inferential analysis, chi squared was applied, finding a significant dependence between the criteria for reporting data on urinary tract infection and the performance of hygienic measures on the patient. Carrying out hygienic measurements to the patient with the recording of the probe. As well as the counseling measures provided to the patient and relative to the record of functioning of the probe.Infections associated with bladder catheterization are in third place among the causes of morbidity, considering that millions of bladder catheterizations are performed globally for diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, the objective of this investigation is to determine the grade of compliance of the Intensive Therapy Form F1-PIVUPSVI / 02 ("Prevention of urinary tract infections in patients with bladder catheter installed"). The design of applied research was quantitative. Type of study is descriptive, transverse, correlational and observational
