This essay discusses issues related to disappearances in urban space, in par- ticular cases that affect streets and subways, the mismatched equivalences of lines on the surface of urban space and what lays underground. Taking as a point of departure David Pike’s concept of threshold, which is key to defining a topography of the “vertical city”, a reading of plans and literary texts and films is proposed. This will illustrate the ways in which surface and other underground spaces overlap and the many differences that exist

Health-related quality of life in Iranian women with polycystic ovary syndrome: a qualitative study

Background Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is associated with a range of challenging symptoms which impact patient’s lives. Iranian women with PCOS are likely to face a number of unique difficulties given particular societal and cultural norms for women. Understanding health-related quality of life (HRQoL) from a patients’perspective is critical to developing the appropriate support interventions. The present study aimed to generate an in-depthunderstanding of HRQoL Iranian women with PCOS. Methods Twenty Iranian women were interviewed and data was subjected to thematic analysis. Results Women reported substantial effects of PCOS on their quality of life, Themes generated from the data related to sexual - physical problems (An unsexualised self: loss, change and pain; and Being pained and painful); exposure and nvasion: the rejecting and invading social world (Concealing and Avoiding and Public property: public scrutiny), diminished self and diminished life (Infertile as inferior and Exhausted mind andbody) respectively. Conclusion PCOS is a physical - sexual, psychological and social syndrome; therefore, it is necessary to taking a more holistic approach to patient care beyond treating physical symptoms

Estas VI Jornadas internacionales de estudio e innovación sobre “Las reliquias y sus cultos”, auspiciadas por el Proyecto de Referencia PIIDUZ_3_943 de la Universidad de Zaragoza y por el Grupo de Investigación Interdisciplinar Polymathía, son un foro de encuentro, intercambio de ideas y discusiones para investigadores, docentes y egresados de las diferentes áreas del saber que componen las titulaciones de Humanidades. En esta ocasión están diseñadas, concretamente, desde una perspectiva de género. En Santas y Rebeldes: las mujeres y el culto a las reliquias se analizan fenómenos socioculturales relacionados con el comportamiento del mundo femenino ante la fe y la devoción, con el empleo de reliquias como instrumento práctico con el que tratar de resolver problemas o cubrir necesidades y con su reflejo en la sociedad
