Approaches to consumer trust in banking sector, with special regard to young customers

    Get PDF
Trust is an element of crucial importance in bank marketing and is becoming a differentiating factor due to the effects of the financial and economic crisis. Trust is a strategic factor in creating a balanced and persistent operation for both individual banks and the banking sector on the whole. This paper aims to explore some of those attributes that are relevant for consumer trust in the respect of banks. Having reviewed the relevant scientific references in the field, through a focus group research of three interviews the ten biggest actors in the Hungarian banking sector were aligned by certain criteria by means of the brand party technique, and the topics of brand-knowledge, satisfaction, dependence and bank-change were also explored. Based on the research findings, there is no serious crisis, but consumer trust has been weakened in the younger age group. Some further findings show that there may be correlation between consumer trust and the assumed size of the banks; old customers might feel neglected as opposed to new ones; customers seem to be satisfied by the e-banking services; there may be a strengthening subjective feeling of dependence on banks when applying for loans; strong consumer subjectivity may prevail in judging the ownership structure of the banks; and finally, the phenomenon of passive bank-change might be frequent. Further elaboration and extension of the present research project may lead to appropriate generalizations.consumer trust, trust research, bank marketing

Better data model makes less work?

My goal is to prove a better data model can help us to work less. If we plan before work, we can save our resources, such as time, money, human resources and work. I would like to prove it with solving a reincurring problem: In Hungary students finishing their studies need to pass the final exam, which is organised twice a year, in each exam period. Some years ago we filed the reports by pen, nowadays we use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), but either way, administration remained a largely mechanical, tedious task. I developed a data model, and some software to automate the task. With this solution the administrators have less work in the exam period. They can save about 8 hours per exam. The solution I propose uses free softwares1. Not only because it is free of charge, but first of all because in this case I have the freedom to change even the program codes, and anybody can download and use them without any administrative tasks. All one would need: one computer running a web server with MySQL and PHP, a printer and my software.database efficiency, data model, free software

Analysing the functions and expenses of logistics packaging systems

    Get PDF
Two main types of the packaging systems can be distinguished in the logistic supply chains, depending on which roads the packaging spreads according to their function and their role like a device or product. Today by means of their system-organization and continuous development, the companies get into a decision dependence situation in order to getting the optimal logisticpackaging expenses. This decision situation practically means the decision mechanism between packaging systems one-way and reuseable packaging (disposable, or returnable). The study examines the theoretical function processes between these two systems, and the expense-structure which is belonging to a given systems furthermore.logistic, packaging, structure

An Econometric Analysis of the Hungarian Sovereign Yield Curve

    Get PDF
This paper analyses the Hungarian sovereign yield curve via econometric methods. First I apply Principal Component Analysis (PCA) on my panel data consisting of zero coupon interest rates derived from government bond trading. This decomposition of the yield curve highlights important relationsips between identified factors and metrics of the term structure shape. As a second step, I implement a semi non-parametric model, as suggested by Gallant and Tauchen (1996). This way, one can understand governing processes of the sovereign yield curve without making arbitrary parametric assumptions. My empirical findings support statistical similarities between the Hungarian yield curve and, in the literature most often analysed, US term structure.term structure of interest rates, principal component analysis, semi non-parametric modelling

Out-of-court dispute resolution policy in EU electronic commerce

The idea of common electronic market in European Union is frequent question in many aspects. From the legal point of view it is necessary to define unfair competition in this field. It includes domain name grabbing, cybersquatting, spamming and other ways of disrupting competitor’s activities. Legal regulation of e-commerce is developing very slowly but we have already achieved some victories. Directive on certain legal aspects of information society, in particular electronic commerce, in Internal Market (2000) was followed by the regulation of .eu domain names (2002, 2004) and others. This paper is focusing on out-ofcourt dispute resolution policy in EU electronic commerce, especially includes the way of so called Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in .eu domain name cases. It presents results of research of more then 200 ADR decisions made by The Czech Arbitration Court which is the only arbitration board within European Union authorized to solve .eu domain name disputes and it is able to administer ADR in all official European Union languages.Alternative dispute resolution, bad faith, complainant, Czech Arbitration Court, cybersquatting, domain name, electronic market, legitimate interest, unfair competition

Models and the crisis The pricing and risks of synthetic CDOs

    Get PDF
We shortly discuss the mathematical modeling and its problems of one of the structured credit derivatives, the synthetic CDOs. These financial products were among the favorites prior to the crisis, and there was a general view that the mathematical models caused or at least boosted it. We focus only on the mathematical description of these derivatives, therefore our analysis concentrates purely on the problems coming directly from the model, we ignore the related practical problems. We find that not only the tools used in the modeling were inappropriate, but the principle used for pricing was also not correct in the framework of risk-neutral pricing. To our knowledge no one has highlighted these theoretical problems so far.well as loan use pattern of the members.

Interrelation between advertising efficiency and corporate sales

    Get PDF
Companies find it more and more critical to keep up with competition, responding to the every day challenges , forming competitive prices, answering the quickly changing demands of consumers and optimally using the possibilities of the short shelf life products. Companies do not consider it a real solution to increase efficiency via the reduction of costs for they practically have no reserves in this sphere. The solution may be a more effective and well-thought-out use of financial means, thus yielding more results in the sphere of marketing.marketing, marketing-controlling, planning, advertisment efficiency

CSR communication of a large bank

    Get PDF
Nowadays in the business and corporate world we can increasingly often hear the expression Corporate Social Responsibility. In the democratic countries of the world the CSR communication develops fast and it is one of the essential elements of economic philosophy. In Hungary the CSR communication is in a hard situation because in the Hungarian media, the distinction between surreptitious advertising and CSR is not yet defined by law and regulated. In previous conference studies I dealt with the CSR communication of Hungarian large banks among which the OTP Bank has the best experience. The aim of my study is to examine the communication of CSR activities through the example of a Hungarian large bank, namely OTP Bank and to explore its potential. In my study firstly I describe the definition of CSR and its communication this is how the corporate social responsibility can be interpreted. Then I demonstrate the CSR communication tools. In the main part of my writing I examine the possibilities of CSR presence and analyze the application of CSR communication tools in the case of a Hungarian large bank. I close my study formulation of hypotheses for national bank sector and further research proposals. My main research questions are: 1. How CSR initiatives are being communicated? 2. How to get publicity for the CSR actions? 3. How to improve the CSR communication?corporate social responsibility, CSR communication, bank
