    Implementation of Literacy Based Approach to Enhance the Communicative Skill in ELT

    This study was conducted to review the failure of teaching English in ELT to reach the objective of the curriculum, especially in communicative skills. The methodology of the study was descriptive qualitative with library research as the approach. The result showed that the literacy approach is conducted to achieve the effective communicative skills for the students. The literacy has been developed not only read and write but furthermore in using the knowledge in order to help student role in society. Furthermore, this study revealed some theory and technique supporting the literacy approach in the classroom. It is suggested to the teacher to enrich their capacity in order to preparing the next curriculum so they can understand and act in the classroom as the literate teache

    Scientific Approach: Model-Based Inquiry in Teaching Narrative

    Curriculum 2013 is the latest curriculum created by the government to make the education in Indonesia better. Scientific approach offered in this curriculum is very remarkable to discuss, since almost all educators are talking about this approach. However, most of the educators get trouble and feel confused to apply this approach in teaching English, since it is usually applied in science class. Therefore, this study was written to show the steps of applying this approach in teaching English. This study, used library research,  tried  to offer new alternative vision to emerge the students’ critical thinking through Model-Based Inquiry, an activity which is able to engage the student to learn more deeply with content and embody of five characteristic of scientific knowledge in which the idea presented in the form of models are testable, revisable, explanatory, conjectural and generative. This study provided the example of teaching narrative text which might be able to be applied in the various final products which could be alternative result of this strategy. &nbsp

    The Praxis of Grammatical Approach in EFL class, from Theory to Pedagogic

    Definitions of grammar often refer to the study of language as a system of words that demonstrate some apparent rule of structure and arrangement into sentences. Sometimes the definition includes pronunciation, meaning of words, and history of words (etymology). Some definitions emphasize grammar as a system of rules in a language. In simplest term, grammar covers the rules that govern the way our communication system works. In order to meet the need of grammar teaching, in pedagogical field, there have been some methods and approach which are applied. However, critics pertaining to the weaknesses of such methodology have been aroused. The main question as the result of the quest for better methodology for grammar teaching is what appropriate method or approach as an alternative way of grammar teaching is. This theoretical research is aimed to propose the influential alternative approach for grammar teaching. This study will start by describing the historical view of grammar teaching and pointing out the link between language input and pedagogical mediation, in plain language between grammars and teaching, by introducing and redefining the concept of pedagogical grammar. Eventually, as the ultimate aim of this research this study is going to explain the current development of grammar teaching, lexical approach, as the problem solver concerning with grammar teaching

    The outbreak of the Covid-19 virus in Indonesia caused instability in the economy, therefore the OJK issued a stimulus policy for restructuring financing for banks. Non-performing Financing (NPF) at BRI Syariah is relatively low during the pandemic by implementing financing restructuring. The purpose of this study was to find out how to implement rescheduling, reconditioning and restructuring as an effort to resolve financing problems during the pandemic at BRI Syariah KCP Mojosari. The type of research used is qualitative research with the data used coming from interviews with the Branch Manager, Account Officer, and Team leader sections which are then analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis methods with an inductive mindset that is based on specific facts for later research, organizing and analyzed so that it can be applied in general. The results of the study show that the implementation of rescheduling, reconditioning and restructuring is carried out since the customer is included in the collectability category 2 or in Special Attention (DPK). The cause of customers restructuring is due to a decrease in turnover or income due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The implementation of restructuring at BRI Syariah KCP Mojosari during the pandemic can be done in two ways, namely  rescheduling and reconditioning.     APPLYING MONTESSORI METHOD TO IMPROVE EARLY CHILDHOOD ENGLISH SKILL

    The Montessori method has been gaining more attention in the last five years. Some preschools and kindergarten have been applying the Montessori method in the English learning activity. However, the method is mostly applied by prestigious schools based on several factors: the school’s readability related to the budget, the stakeholders and teachers as well as the parents’ perceptions, the teacher’s competency, etc. This case study is intended to investigate the implementation of English teaching and learning by using the Montessori method in preschool and kindergarten settings. Six teachers participated in the study. The data were collected from interviews and observations. The results indicate that applying the Montessori method in English learning activities can result positively in students' English ability and performance. The findings propose several suggestions related to the issue of English for early childhood education

    Language is one of the important aspects for early childhood development. Language functions as a means of communication as well as being an important means for the lives of children. It is dangerous to be a means for children to be able to interact with each other, share their experiences, and be able to improve intellectually, namely in order to develop their language knowledge and skills. For early childhood it is a period of development that must be fostered and developed so that they can make full use of their language skills. If the guidance, direction, and handling are not appropriate or even not obtained by the child causes language development that is not in accordance with what is expected by parents at home or by educators at school. The methods that can be done to stimulate and optimize children's language intelligence, including the method of question and answer, storytelling, tourist visits and play play (dramatic play). The role playing method consists of playing the role of macro and micro by going through the stages of playing an artificial role, playing with the object, pretending to be related to actions and circumstances, perseverance and oral communication. Based on data analysis and discussion, information can be obtained that the method of playing drama (play dramatically) / role playing is carried out in several stages, namely identifying figures, determining story settings, interpreting stories and values ​​contained, reflection and observation. The application of this technique is expected to provide optimization of early childhood language intelligence

Therefore, teachers must know what methods or models are suitable for their class and materials. This study help the teachers to give further information about three well-known and the most common used instructional design models, Dick and Carey, Kemp, and Three phases. This study broke these theories and provided the way to implement them into classroom. Furthermore, this study also peeled out the differences and the similarities of each instructional design. It is hoped to help the teachers to design their own models by developing and combining these three instructional designs

    Students’ Difficulties In Understanding English Songs

    This paper reports the result of a study which aims to argue the previous studies which report that listening through song can help the students to improve the listening comprehension. Listening is one of four integrated skills of learning English which become the most difficult skill for the students. This paper investigates the students’ difficulties in doing listening activity by using song. The students here represent the students of Junior High school, especially private school in remote area. The problems which are mostly and commonly faced by the students while listening are explained further in this paper. As the result, the researcher analyzes the problems may impede the students’ to do the exercises well. Moreover, this paper also gives suggestion which may help the teacher to overcome the students’ problem

    This research has a background to determine the extent to which the use of the book "al mufrodat wa Istikhdamuha fii al Jumal" in the Darul Quran Islamic boarding school in Mojokerto City in improving the mastery of memorizing Arabic vocabulary. By utilizing this book in the learning process, it is hoped that it can provide different motivation and innovation for students in mastering memorizing Arabic vocabulary orally and in writing in an easier and more thorough manner. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The research data was obtained by observation, where the researcher functions as an instrument to carry out continuous observations, document studies and in-depth interviews. The validity of the data is done by triangulation of sources. Meanwhile, for data analysis using interactive model analysis, namely by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study describe the design of the book المفرداتو استخدامها في الجمل which is very helpful for vocabulary mastery, if students are asked to write the words they have just learned when the meanings of the words are still fresh in students' minds. Students write vocabulary. The last stage of the vocabulary teaching activity is to use the new words in a perfect sentence according to the guidelines from the book orally and in writing. Exercises like this really help to strengthen vocabulary understanding and accelerate the improvement of students' vocabulary memorization
