    The Escape Gap Effectiveness of Collapsible Trap to Catch Swimming Crab (Portunus pelagicus) in Banten Bay)

    Swimming crab is one of an economic fisheries commodity in Banten Province. One of the fishing gear to catch swimming crabs is collapsible trap. The objective of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of escape gap on collapsible traps for catching swimming crab in Banten Bay. This research uses experimental fishing. The escape gap have 4 cm in length and 3 cm in width to release the swimming crabs with carapace width < 10 cm. This research was conducted in January-February 2015 in Banten Bay. The total 84 swimming crab consist of 40 males and 44 females. With total weight 15,556 g. The carapace width distribution in this study ranged from 6,5 to 14,1 cm. The application of escaping gap have high effectiveness to catch the legal size of swimming crab with proportion 84%

    Blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) is an important economical fishery commodity for fishermen in Banten Bay that are caught using gill nets and collapsible traps. The increasing of fishing pressure has highly potential to reduce the quality of the catch as exposed in previous studies. However, the comprehensive, and time series analysis of the previous research results have not been conducted. The purpose of this study is to analyze the variations of blue swimming crab caught in Banten Bay through a combination of meta-analysis techniques, fishing trials and field obser-vations to determine the effect of fishing activities on swimming crab sizes, and evaluate the status of swimming crab fisheries in Banten Bay. Standard mean difference from 10 different studies was used as a meta-analysis parameter. The results of the meta-analysis showed that fishing activities were conducted from 2004 to 2018 had a significant effect on the decreasing of the swimming crab size. The average of swimming crab carapace width caught in 2019 approximately 121.66 mm. The proportion of legal swimming crabs in 2014, 2015 and 2019 was more than 80%, so that the status of swimming crab fisheries in Banten Bay is still environmentally friendly.Keywords: carapace width, meta analysis, fisheries, Portunus pelagicus, blue swimming cra

    Analisis Teknis Ekonomi Usaha Perikanan Bagan Di Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara Karangantu Banten

    Penelitian ini bertujuan umuk menganalisis keragaan ekonomi alat tangkap bagan yang beroperasi di Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara (PPN) Karangantu dan menyusun strategi pengembangan alat tangkap bagan. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner, melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama satu bulan yaih1 pada bulan September hingga Oktober 2018. Analisis data tmtuk mengetahui kelayakan ekonomi usaha perikanan tangkap menggunakan Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit Cost Of Ratio (BCR), Internal Rate of Return (IRR) dan Payback Period (PP) dan analisis SWOT. Hasil penelitiaan menunjukkan bahwa kapal dengan ukuran 1-10 GT tidak layak untuk diteruskan karena alat tangkap dengan ukuran ini sangat sensitif terhadap adanya kenaikan harga BBM. Kapa1 ukuran ll-20 GT layak untuk diteruskan akan tetapi hanya bisa sampai nilai titik impas dan a1at tangkap ini juga sangat sensitif terhadap perubahan kenaikan harga BBM. Sedangkan kapal dengan ukuran 21-30 GT tidak berpegaruh terhadap adanya perubahan harga BBM dan dapat dinyatakan layak untuk diteruskan dalam usaha perikanan tangkap bagan di PPN Karangantu. Strategi pengembanggan yang disarankan adalah peningkatan keterampilan nelayan dan inovasi alat tangkap yang bertujuan agar nelayan bisa mengetahui alat tangkap yang lebih baik serta mempertahankan kualitas hasil tangkapan
