94 GHz Radiometer for Benchmarking its Operational Parameters for the Remote Detecton of Concealed Threat

    Get PDF
Standoff detection of concealed threat, using millimeter wave radiometer, is being experimented worldwide for enhancing the frame rate and detection probability, as an alternative to personnel frisking, for enhancing passenger service rate and avoiding exposure to harmful radiations. The development of 94 GHz Dicke radiometer and experimentation to bench mark its operational parameters like spatial sampling rate, scan rate and dwell time for the detection of concealed threat, under the fabrics of a human is described. The experimentation provided operational methodology and imaging phenomenology in a given background for the detection of metallic threats. The experimental results have established that radiometer can be considered as an alternate to frisking of personnel and celebrities at public places for security reasons

Clinically Nadi Vrana forms if abscess is avoid or treated improperly and ineffectively with post-operative complications and complaints of recurrences in most of the cases by the line of treatment adopted by modern surgeons. In spite of tremendous progress in the field of modern surgery, still there or greatly analyzed chances of recurrence are noticed. Objectives: The study is aimed to know the comparative efficacy of Ghonta Phaladi Varti and Aragvadhadi Varti in the management of Nadi Vrana.Method: Total 30 patients diagnosed to be suffering from Nadi Vrana (Sinus) were selected randomly. These were divided into two groups A and B containing 15 patients in each. Group A patients were treated with Ghonta Phaladi Varti application and group B patients were treated with Aragvadhadi Varti application.Result: Comparative statistical analysis of both groups A Ghonta Phaladi Varti and B Aragvadhadi Varti denotes insignificant difference with respect to parameters such as length of the tract, discharge, surrounding skin, tenderness, temperature, pain, burning sensation and itching. But group A is more effective than group B.Interpretation: It is recommended to conduct clinical trial on large sample size may be with some acceptable modifications in drug, dose and durations which may give more beneficial result. Conclusion: When two groups were compared more improvement was seen in patients treated with Ghonta Phaladi Varti than Aragvadhadi Varti

Objectives: The present study was undertaken to assess and compare the immunohistochemical expression of Bcl-2 in selected benign and malignant salivary gland tumors. Study Design: A total of 50 cases of buffered formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissues of previously diagnosed cases of benign and malignant salivary gland tumors from the archives of Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Microbiology, SDM College of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Dharwad, India, were taken for the study. The immunohistochemical staining procedure was performed using monoclonal anti Bcl-2 antibody, as directed by the manufacturer. Results: Thirty six cases (72%) out of 50 cases showed a positive expression for Bcl-2. Benign salivary gland tumors showed a positive expression in 8 out of 14 cases (~57%) and malignant salivary gland tumors in 28 out of 36 cases (~78%). The staining was intense in the normal lymph node, which is used as a positive control. Bcl-2 expression was seen in both benign and in malignant salivary gland tumors taken for the study except in "canalicular adenoma". Conclusion: The immunohistochemical expression of Bcl-2 was greater and more intense in malignant salivary gland neoplasms, suggesting a high survival rate of tumor cells in malignant neoplasms. © Medicina Oral S. Superconductivity in CoO2_2 Layers and the Resonating Valence Bond Mean Field Theory of the Triangular Lattice t-J model

Motivated by the recent discovery of superconductivity in two dimensional CoO2_2 layers, we present some possibly useful results of the RVB mean field theory applied to the triangular lattice. Away from half filling, the order parameter is found to be complex, and yields a fully gapped quasiparticle spectrum. The sign of the hopping plays a crucial role in the analysis, and we find that superconductivity is as fragile for one sign as it is robust for the other. Nax_xCoO2y_2\cdot yH2_2O is argued to belong to the robust case, by comparing the LDA Fermi surface with an effective tight binding model. The high frequency Hall constant in this system is potentially interesting, since it is pointed out to increase linearly with temperature without saturation for T >> Tdegeneracy_{degeneracy}.Comment: Published in Physical Review B, total 1 tex + 9 eps files. On Mirror Symmetry for Manifolds of Exceptional Holonomy

We consider Type II string theories on Tn/Z2m{\bf T^n}/{{\bf Z_2}^m} Joyce orbifolds. This class contains orbifolds which can be desingularised to give manifolds of G2G_2 (n({\bf n}==7)7) and Spin(7)Spin(7) holonomy (n({\bf n}==8)8). In the G2G_2 holonomy case we present two types of TT-duality transformation which are clearly generalisations of the TT-duality/mirror transformation in Calabi-Yau spaces. The first maps Type IIA theory on one such space from this class to Type IIB theory on another such space. The second maps Type IIA (IIB) to Type IIA (IIB). In the case of Spin(7)Spin(7) holonomy we present a TT-duality transformation which maps Type IIA (IIB) theory on one such space to Type IIA (IIB) on another such space. As orbifold conformal field theories these TT-dual target spaces are related via the inclusion/exclusion of discrete torsion and the TT-duality is proven to genus gg in string perturbation theory. We then apply a Strominger, Yau, Zaslow type argument which suggests that manifolds of G2G_2 holonomy which have a ``mirror'' of the first (second) type admit supersymmetric T3{\bf T^3} (T4{\bf T^4}) fibrations and that manifolds of Spin(7)Spin(7) holonomy for which a mirror exists admit fibration by supersymmetric 44-tori. Further evidence for this suggestion is given by examining the moduli space structure of wrapped D-branes.Comment: 20 Pages, Late

Quantification of execution and emission efficiency of a fueled diesel engine

    Get PDF
A significant portion of the automobile and industrial sector is mostly dependent on the running of diesel engines as it is efficient and shifts a large of the goods around the globe and power various equipment. Also, as the use of energy as diesel fuel is increasing enormously with the expansion of industrial growth, diversification, this led to the accelerating global emissions, global climatic change, health issues, and exhaustion of fuels. To succumb this, alternative fuel is needed to fight against the ill effects and as a replacement to diesel fuel. Thus, vegetable oils as alternative fuels are drawing more attention as they are renewable and do not address the problem of greenhouse gas. In the present work, the cottonseed oil was chosen as the favorite among the vegetable oils due to its advantages like less pollutant level, excessive availability, etc. The transesterification process was used to produce the cottonseed oil biodiesel. This research aims to investigate efficiency, emission characteristics by using smooth diesel, cottonseed oil, and mixtures with varying composition from 20 % to 80 % in 20 % steps to identify sustainable fuel as a substitute for existing fuel and to overcome fuel demand and enviro effects. This test was conducted on single-cylinder four-stroke water-cooled diesel engines. From the results, it was revealed that cottonseed oil and its blends have a significant influence on performance and emission characters
