Does international sustainability certification support regional biodiversity conservation objectives? : the case of rooibos production and Fynbos conservation in South-Africa
Intensification and Sustainability in South African Rooibos: exploring the conditions for market-led sustainable development in a biodiversity hot spot
The Fynbos biome in the Cape region in South Africa is currently the only production location of Rooibos tea in the world. In addition, biodiversity in the Fynbos biome is very large and unique for the world. This makes Rooibos tea a unique product, the availability of which strongly depends on the dynamics in a bounded territory. Rooibos is sometimes harvested from the wild, but up to 99% of all Rooibos is cultivated. 95% of all Rooibos is produced on large farms or plantations. Such farms, which also exist for potatoes and grapes in the Fynbos biome have a large impact on the ecosystem, especially because large areas have been cleared in the past for their establishment. For instance, ‘an average of 2.7 hectares of virgin land has been cleared for farming every day in the past 15 years’, in the Northern Sandveld
Normalizations of Eisenstein integrals for reductive symmetric spaces
We construct minimal Eisenstein integrals for a reductive symmetric space G/H
as matrix coefficients of the minimal principal series of G. The Eisenstein
integrals thus obtained include those from the \sigma-minimal principal series.
In addition, we obtain related Eisenstein integrals, but with different
normalizations. Specialized to the case of the group, this wider class includes
Harish-Chandra's minimal Eisenstein integrals.Comment: 66 pages. Minor revisions. To be published in Journal of Functional

FOSTERING GROUP WORK AND CONNECTION ONLINE: THE JUXTAPOSED VIEW OF STUDENT AND EDUCATOR
Establishing social connections is important in educational learning spaces, both face-to-face and online. In the sciences we offer practical experiences that are places for skill development and linking of theory with application, but also for social connection between students and with educators. Participation in these authentic activities provides opportunities for students to establish a scientific identity and a sense of belonging to the scientific community. Importantly, practical experiences are also recognised for creating motivation and enhanced student engagement (Hofstein & Mamlock-Naaman, 2007; Smith et al., 2014).
In 2020, most practical opportunities moved to remote delivery, where educators leveraged online tools to foster connection and group work while still focusing on skills and engagement. This presentation will share educator and student perspectives on strategies to foster connection and group work online through a major group work research project undertaken by 650 first-year molecular biology students at the University of Wollongong in 2020 (delivered and facilitated fully online). The presentation will also focus on what students and educators believe cannot be replicated online as a means to focus our current efforts on elements that should remain delivered face-to-face and elements of scientific teaching and social connection that may be supported online.

-invariant cusp forms for reductive symmetric spaces of split rank one
Let be a reductive symmetric space of split rank and let be a
maximal compact subgroup of . In a previous article the first two authors
introduced a notion of cusp forms for . We show that the space of cusp
forms coincides with the closure of the -finite generalized matrix
coefficients of discrete series representations if and only if there exist no
-spherical discrete series representations. Moreover, we prove that every
-spherical discrete series representation occurs with multiplicity in

Development and evaluation of the coach-athlete relationship enhancement intervention
An expanding body of sport psychology theory and research has highlighted the central role of the coach-athlete relationship (CAR) in the performance, satisfaction and well-being of coaches as well as athletes. Models have been developed that identify the key dimensions of CAR quality and the interpersonal behaviour that maintains it, but there remains a need for interventions that support coaches and athletes to optimise their interpersonal skills. This can be done by harnessing recent advances in personality theory which emphasise a more holistic and developmental view of the person and provide a basis for greater mutual understanding and adaptive interpersonal behaviour change in the CAR. The aims of this study were to develop the Coach-Athlete Relationship Enhancement (CARE) intervention through an integration of the Enneagram personality typology with current models of the CAR, and then to evaluate the impact of the CARE intervention on CAR quality. Sixty-two university-level athletes and their nine coaches participated in the study. Quantitative and qualitative results indicate that the CARE intervention significantly enhanced CAR quality, including direct and meta-perceptions of closeness, commitment and complementarity, as well as co-orientation. Intervention outcomes included enhanced mutual understanding in the CAR, enhanced self-awareness, enhanced team relationships, and adaptive interpersonal behaviour change. These outcomes were associated with a shared awareness between coaches and athletes of their Enneagram personality type traits and motivations. Coach-athlete relationship quality was further enhanced by re-constructing coaches’ and athletes’ personal narratives based on self-descriptions of Enneagram type strengths, and a redefinition of individuals’ core motivations to incorporate adaptive interpersonal behaviour change
The explanation of the physical activity of elderly by determinants of the I-change Model
Ouderen zijn onvoldoende lichamelijk actief. Het doel van dit onderzoek is na te gaan in hoeverre het beweeggedrag van ouderen verklaard wordt door de in het I-change model geschetste determinanten
