Compared to the higher fungi (Dikarya), taxonomic and evolutionary studies on the basal clades of fungi are fewer in number. Thus, the generic boundaries and higher ranks in the basal clades of fungi are poorly known. Recent DNA based taxonomic studies have provided reliable and accurate information. It is therefore necessary to compile all available information since basal clades genera lack updated checklists or outlines. Recently, Tedersoo et al. (MycoKeys 13:1--20, 2016) accepted Aphelidiomycota and Rozellomycota in Fungal clade. Thus, we regard both these phyla as members in Kingdom Fungi. We accept 16 phyla in basal clades viz. Aphelidiomycota, Basidiobolomycota, Blastocladiomycota, Calcarisporiellomycota, Caulochytriomycota, Chytridiomycota, Entomophthoromycota, Glomeromycota, Kickxellomycota, Monoblepharomycota, Mortierellomycota, Mucoromycota, Neocallimastigomycota, Olpidiomycota, Rozellomycota and Zoopagomycota. Thus, 611 genera in 153 families, 43 orders and 18 classes are provided with details of classification, synonyms, life modes, distribution, recent literature and genomic data. Moreover, Catenariaceae Couch is proposed to be conserved, Cladochytriales Mozl.-Standr. is emended and the family Nephridiophagaceae is introduced

The collected volume contains 21 contributions on the theme of the querelle des femmes. Beginning with the debate on the inferiority, superiority or equality of the sexes raging in Europe between 1400 and 1700, the querelle processes are expanded to a conflict and debate between the sexes not bound by time or space. The now infinitely open term leads to the heterogeneity of the essays, not only in terms of quality but also content, theme, and methodology. The scholarly discussion surrounding the querelle phenomenon is thus continued, even if the systematic reconsideration of the historical material, in particular the search for traces and the safeguarding of trends and networks, remains to be done

Clarice Lispector is generally considered to be an important modernist writer. Her paradoxical and enigmatic way of writing, however, has induced widely differing interpretations. Hélène Cixous, for instance, recognized in her work a completely new mode of expression, the so-called écriture féminine, a model of 'female difference' in writing. On the other hand Lispector's work has been defined as post-structuralist and deconstructionist according to postmodernist parameters. A contradiction emerges: whereas the theory of difference insists on the importance of the female subject, the postmodernists are no longer concerned with the autonomous and self-identical subject. Can Lispector be both a representative of écriture féminine and of postmodernism, can she be claimed for both the construction and deconstruction of the subject? The following remarks try to show how Lispector develops an aesthetic principle that allows for self-discovery and search for meaning by way of abandoning meaning altogether; meaning as it emerges from logo- and phallocentrism, from the symbolic order and its language.

FOXF1 Mediates Endothelial Progenitor Functions and Regulates Vascular Sprouting

Endothelial colony forming cells (ECFC) or late blood outgrowth endothelial cells (BOEC) have been proposed to contribute to neovascularization in humans. Exploring genes characteristic for the progenitor status of ECFC we have identified the forkhead box transcription factor FOXF1 to be selectively expressed in ECFC compared to mature endothelial cells isolated from the vessel wall. Analyzing the role of FOXF1 by gain- and loss-of-function studies we detected a strong impact of FOXF1 expression on the particularly high sprouting capabilities of endothelial progenitors. This apparently relates to the regulation of expression of several surface receptors. First, FOXF1 overexpression specifically induces the expression of Notch2 receptors and induces sprouting. Vice versa, knock-down of FOXF1 and Notch2 reduces sprouting. In addition, FOXF1 augments the expression of VEGF receptor-2 and of the arterial marker ephrin B2, whereas it downmodulates the venous marker EphB4. In line with these findings on human endothelial progenitors, we further show that knockdown of FOXF1 in the zebrafish model alters, during embryonic development, the regular formation of vasculature by sprouting. Hence, these findings support a crucial role of FOXF1 for endothelial progenitors and connected vascular sprouting as it may be relevant for tissue neovascularization. It further implicates Notch2, VEGF receptor-2, and ephrin B2 as downstream mediators of FOXF1 functions.(VLID)470090
