Složila finanční krize „labutí píseň“ pozitivistické ekonomii?
V rámci filosofie věd panuje široká shoda na tom, že druhá polovina 20. století složila „labutí píseň" pozitivismu. Milton Friedman a Paul Samuelson, dva klíčoví autoři k metodologii ekonomie v daném časovém období, přitom tento vývoj ve filosofii vědy prý nikdy nereflektovali. Pozitivistická východiska - v prvé řadě v podobě redukcioni- stického přístupu - jsou tudíž stále přítomna ve vlivných teoretických konceptech rozvinutých ekonomy hlavního proudu. Značný počet autorů však v současnosti sdílí náhled, že tyto koncepty v nezanedbatelné míře přispěly k vývoji, jenž ústil ve finanční krizi, vrcholící v letech 2008 a 2009. Předkládaný článek se proto táže, zda to byla právě krize - v níž mnozí spatřují empirické zamítnutí řady pozitivistických konceptů - která napsala „labutí píseň" pozitivismu v ekonomii hlavního proudu

SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER. On 12 October 1986 we saw an unusual sandpiper, in company of three dowitchers, on the east side of Nebraska Highway 15, about half the distance between the Platte River and Octavia, Butler County. We thought the bird to be a juvenile Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (Calidris acuminata).
IVORY GULL. On 12 October 1986 we were birding six miles east and half a mile south of Brunswick, Antelope County. . . . We were sitting in our vehicle at the edge of the road, facing south, when a white gull appeared. . . . [W]e identified this bird as an Ivory Gull.
These apparently are the first reports of these two species in Nebraska
ACCURACY OF GRID PRICING: AN EVALUATION USING WHOLESALE VALUES OF FED CATTLE
Grid pricing is one of the beef industry's answers to improving value coordination in fed cattle transactions. This paper constructs individual carcass-level grid and wholesale beef values. These values are used to evaluate the level of value communication that occurs between wholesale and grid values of beef. Furthermore, the values are used to estimate grid premiums/discounts that improve value communication. WAAM TECHNOLOGY OPTIMIZED BY OFF-LINE 3D ROBOT SIMULATION
WAAM (Wire + Arc Additive Manufacturing) is an alternative additive technology that combines an electric arc as a heat source, filler material in the form of a wire for welding and cladding individual weld passes so as to ultimately achieve the closest shape of produced components. Nowadays, when it is modern to digitize the manufacturing production, this process can also be designed using off-line programming tools and 3D simulations of the robot that welds the whole structure. This study deals with the comparison of three structured continuous welds using different weld metal transfers. From the results of the first two processes (dip transfer and IAC process), optimization was achieved using the CMT process and the welding path correction. As the filler material, the low-alloyed solid wire electrode for shielded arc welding of quenched and tempered fine grained structural steels, Böhler Union X 90 (G 89 6 M Mn4Ni2CrMo) with 1 mm in diameter, was used. Obtained samples were subjected to standard technological tests. The results of these tests are used to determine new parameters to ensure stability of this technology. The experiment confirmed that off-line programming will greatly influence the speed and quality of the welding track programs. The results prove that, by combining off-line welding path optimization with an optimized CMT welding process, we can achieve a stable WAAM process

In Vitro Antimicrobial Activities of Organic Acids and Their Derivatives on Several Species of Gram-Negative and Gram-Positive Bacteria.
The objective of this study was to determine the in vitro antimicrobial activity of several organic acids and their derivatives against Gram-positive (G+) and Gram-negative (G-) bacteria. Butyric acid, valeric acid, monopropionin, monobutyrin, monovalerin, monolaurin, sodium formate, and ProPhorce-a mixture of sodium formate and formic acid (40:60 w/v)-were tested at 8 to 16 concentrations from 10 to 50,000 mg/L. The tested bacteria included G- bacteria (Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica Typhimurium, and Campylobacter jejuni) and G+ bacteria (Enterococcus faecalis, Clostridium perfringens, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Streptococcus suis). Antimicrobial activity was expressed as minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of tested compounds that prevented growth of tested bacteria in treated culture broth. The MICs of butyric acid, valeric acid, and ProPhorce varied among bacterial strains with the lowest MIC of 500-1000 mg/L on two strains of Campylobacter. Sodium formate at highest tested concentrations (20,000 mg/L) did not inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli, Salmonella Typhimurium, and Enterococcus faecalis, but sodium formate inhibited the growth of other tested bacteria with MIC values from 2000 to 18,800 mg/L. The MIC values of monovalerin, monolaurin, and monobutyrin ranged from 2500 to 15,000 mg/L in the majority of bacterial strains. Monopropionin did not inhibit the growth of all tested bacteria, with the exception that the MIC of monopropionin was 11,300 mg/L on Clostridia perfringens. Monolaurin strongly inhibited G+ bacteria, with the MIC value of 10 mg/L against Streptococcus pneumoniae. The MIC tests indicated that organic acids and their derivatives exhibit promising antimicrobial effects in vitro against G- and G+ bacteria that are resistant to antimicrobial drugs. The acid forms had stronger in vitro antimicrobial activities than ester forms, except that the medium chain fatty acid ester monolaurin exhibited strong inhibitory effects on G+ bacteria
Intrathecal Baclofen Pump Migration Into the Peritoneal Cavity: A Case Report
INTRODUCTION:
Intrathecal baclofen pumps are valuable treatment options for those with cerebral palsy. Although subfascial baclofen pump placement is generally preferred over a subcutaneous pump placement due to lower infection rates, rare complications can occur with the subfascial approach such as pump migration.
CASE PRESENTATION:
The authors here describe a case of baclofen pump migration into the peritoneal cavity of a 26-year-old male patient with cerebral palsy, shunted hydrocephalus, and epilepsy. Because the patient's pump could not be palpated on exam and hence refilled, imaging was undertaken, but did not reveal clear evidence of pump migration. Surgery afterward confirmed that the pump had migrated into the peritoneal cavity through a fascial defect. Baclofen pump had to be replaced instead subcutaneously as well as the patient later had to be readmitted for 2 ventriculoperitoneal shunt revisions due to progression of his hydrocephalus.
CONCLUSIONS:
Intraperitoneal migration of a subfascially placed baclofen pump is a rare, yet serious complication, which has been reported only once in the literature. We advise neurosurgeons to have a low level of threshold in confirming the location of a baclofen pump with imaging and surgical exploration if necessary in order to avoid detrimental outcomes such as bowel perforation
Testování křemíkových detektorů ITk beta zářičem pro experiment ATLAS Upgrade
Testovánı́ křemı́kových detektorů ITk beta zářičem pro experiment ATLAS Upgrade Abstrakt: Experiment ATLAS projde významným vylepšenı́m před začátkem High Luminosity fáze fungovánı́ LHC. Zejména pak bude vyměněn současný systém dráhových detektorů (ID) za plně křemı́kový ITk. Laboratoře ÚČJF se podı́lejı́ na výzkumu a vývoji SCT detektorových modulů pro ITk. Tato práce byla zaměřena na nı́zkoteplotnı́ β testy prototypu R0 FR 5. Po otestovánı́ zch- lazovacı́ho cyklu bylo naměřeno 11 threshold scanů na dvou ABC130 čipech. Sebraný náboj byl na čipu č. 6 naměřen v rozmezı́ 2.9 ± 0.2 fC a 3.1 ± 0.2 fC při poměru signál/šum od 16.0±1.0 při teplotě 24 ◦ C do 22.7±1.5 při −15 ◦ C. Mimo nejistotu měřenı́ nebyla pozorována žádná závislost sebraného náboje na teplotě. Výsledky jsou v souladu s předchozı́mi podobnými měřenı́mi. Rovněž byl řešen problém fitovánı́sebraného náboje v různých jednotkách, při čemž byla prokázána rovnocennost těchto fitů. Schopnost laboratořı́ ÚČJF provádět nı́zkoteplotnı́ β testy byla potvrzena.Beta Source Tests of Semiconductor Detectors ITk for ATLAS Upgrade Abstract: The ATLAS experiment is due to undergo a major upgrade for the High Luminosity phase of the LHC operation. In particular, the current tracking system (ID) will be replaced by full-silicon ITk. IPNP laboratories are involved in R&D of SCT detector modules for ITk. Low-temperature β-source tests of the R0 FR 5 module prototype were the main focus of this thesis. After testing the cooling cycle, 11 threshold scans were performed on two ABC130 chips, yielding the median collected charge ranging between 2.9 ± 0.2 fC and 3.1 ± 0.2 fC for chip #6 at SNR from 16.0 ± 1.0 at 24 ◦ C to 22.7 ± 1.5 at −15 ◦ C. No trend with temperature was observed outside the error bars. The results are in accordance with previous similar measurements. Question of fitting the median collected charge in various units was adressed and equivalence of the fits was determined.
