Detection of Blueberry red ringspot virus in highbush blueberry cv. ‘Coville’ in Slovenia

Blueberry red ringspot virus (BRRSV) infects blueberries and is present in USA. It causes red ringspots or red blotches on one year old stems or older. In mid- to late summer reddish-brown spots develop on older leaves. In some blueberry cultivars also fruit symptoms, circular areas of light colour and/or fruit deformations, can be seen. In spring 2008 BRRSV was detected in symptomatic bark from blueberry cv. ‘Coville’ showing typical BRRSV symptoms. The obtained PCR product was sequenced and the identity of the virus confirmed. Sodobne teorije pripovedi

Koron’s monograph explores a vast field of theory – occassionally called post-classical narratology – from the historical-developmental and the systematic or theoretical-methodological perspectives. The first part of the book treats the theoretical preliminaries, basic concepts, terminological questions, delimitations of the research subject, and the definitions of narrative. The second part outlines the history of narrative theories, divided into several phases, and the formation of its concepts. The third part discusses Slovenian contributions to the field and compares them to the international state of research. The fourth part examines the applicability of contemporary narratological approaches to concrete texts. It treats the concept of omniscient narration, aspects of narratology of drama and the phenomenon of narrativity in the plays of Dušan Jovanović (1939–), the development of gendered narratology, the introduction of narratological concepts in autobiographies and concludes the discussion with entering the interdisciplinary field of historiographical narratology.Knjiga se razvejanega področja, za katerega je v rabi tudi termin postklasična naratologija, loteva iz dveh literarnovednih perspektiv: historično razvojne in sistematske ali teoretično metodološke. Tako zajame pojav, ki v slovenski literarni vedi doslej še ni bil obravnavan na ta način in v takem obsegu in se pri tem osredotoči na verbalne pripovedi. Prvi del knjige se ukvarja s teoretskimi preliminarijami, vpeljavo temeljnih pojmov in terminološkimi vprašanji, določitvijo predmeta raziskovanja in definicijami pripovedi. Drugi del sledi zgodovini teorij pripovedi in oblikovanju njenega pojmovnega instrumentarija skozi več razvojnih faz. Tretji del pregleda slovenske dosežke in jih primerja z razvojem mednarodnih raziskav. Četrti del pa preverja aplikabilnost sodobnih pripovednoteoretskih teženj ob konkretnem gradivu. Obravnava koncept vsevednega pripovedovanja, vidike naratologije drame in pojav pripovednosti v dramatiki Dušana Jovanovića, razvoj naratologije družbenih spolov, vpeljavo pripovednoteoretskih kategorij v raziskovanje avtobiografij in zaokroži razpravljanje z vstopom na interdisciplinarno področje t. i. historiografske naratologije

Impact of Raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) Primocane Tipping on Fruit Yield and Quality

High temperature stress, which has been occurring more often in recent years, usually coincides with the flowering of primocane raspberries and causes a negative effect on fruit quality parameters. One of the methods of delaying raspberry flowering and fruit development to avoid high summer temperatures is tipping the young primocanes. The aim of the study was to investigate how this practice affects the fruit characteristics and primary and secondary metabolites of two primocane raspberry cultivars (‘Amira’ and ‘Polka’). For this purpose, we performed primocane tipping on two different dates in late spring and analyzed the berries from three subsequent sampling dates. High performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) analyses were used for the identification and quantification of individual phenolic compounds and HPLC analyses for individual sugars and organic acids. Primocane tipping had great influence on the beginning of the harvest season of both cultivars. The impact on fruit yield was insignificant. Sampling date had a greater influence on fruit metabolite contents than did different treatments, with cultivar ‘Polka’ showing a greater response to primocane tipping than cultivar 'Amira'. Based on primary and secondary metabolites, it is difficult to say which treatment provided the best results, since dissimilar patterns were shown at different sampling dates and between cultivars. With negligible differences in fruit quality, primocane tipping was shown to be a good cultivation practice for delaying the production season of raspberries

Safety of vaginal erbium laser: A review of 113,000 patients treated in the past 8 years.

Background: Energy-based devices are becoming a popular option for minimally invasive vaginal procedures. The aim of this study was to obtain information on the frequency of occurrence of adverse effects (AEs) related to vaginal erbium laser (VEL™) treatment.Materials and methods: The global survey was conducted among practitioners using the non-ablative VEL™ (Fotona, Ljubljana, Slovenia). Users were invited to provide the number of patients treated with VEL™ and the number of observed laser-related AEs.Results: The survey was conducted from August 2018 to April 2019. Responses from 535 practitioners were collected, with a total of 113,174 patients treated in the period from 2012 to 2019. Out of 535 respondents, 160 (30%) shared detailed information about the indications they treated in a population of 62,727 patients, whereas 188 (35%) respondents provided information on the frequency of AEs observed in their treated population of 43,095 patients. All observed AEs were mild to moderate, transient and appeared with low frequencies.Conclusions: Minimally invasive thermal-only laser treatment using the non-ablative VEL™ procedures appears to be safe and the incidence of AEs is low
