Spiders (Araneae) from the Panský diel (Starohorské vrchy Mts, Slovakia)

Spiders were collected at the massif 'Panský diel' near the city of Banská Bystrica (Central Slovakia). We recorded 252 spider species for the territory and one new species for Slovakia. Although the summit reaches an altitude of 1.100 m a.s.l., more or less thermophilous species apparently prevail here, especially at lower moderate sites. On the other hand, only several typical oreophilous species were documented. Many recorded species are scarce or even very rare. This indicates the very high value of this territory from both a genetic and an environmental perspective

Strength analysis of steel construction girders handling 186 t

Táto práca sa zaoberá pevnostnou analýzou manipulačnej traverzy 186 t. Hlavnou náplňou práce je vykonať pevnostnú kontrolu pomocou metódy konečných prvkov. Pre výpočet bol použitý program NX I-DEAS. Súčasťou práce je tiež návrh konštrukčných zmien v prípade poddimenzovaných častí.This thesis deals with the strength analysis of girders handling 186 t. The main objective of this thesis is to perform strength control using the Finite Element Method. NX I-DEAS software was used to perform all the necessary calculations. Possible design changes for undersized components are also presented.

SAFETY AUDIT IN HATCHING COMPANY

A safety audit in a hatching company in order to improve the hatching quality and poultry breeding, poultry products and production by reducing risk factors and improving safety was performed. In the article is discussed the safety audit consisting of several parts such as an audit questionnaire and FMEA methods (analysis of causes and consequences of failures) where there are specified potential risks arising at work. These risks are evaluated, and corrective measures are defined to reduce the formation of potential risks. Záver je zameraný na pohľad do budúcna a problematiku alternatívnych pohonov.The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to cover current trends in development of propulsive units of personal automobiles. The introduction describes combustion engines and divides them into categories. The next chapters describe current development of gasoline and diesel combustion engines. The conclusion is aimed for the perspective view into the future and the problem of alternative propulsions.

RELIABILITY MONITORING OF GRAIN HARVESTER IN OPERATING CONDITIONS

Reliability and quality are strongly linked between each other although people are often confused and consider these to be the same. Quality is defined as the ability to satisfy requirements that customers had determined or expected. If an organization manages to fulfill preconditions and requirements, it has a potential that customers will continue to use its products while buying new ones. Reliability can be named as an indicator expressing the probability that a product will perform the function it was made for and for a period specified in given operating conditions. In this work, we have focused on monitoring the specific parameters in two types of grain harvesters in operating conditions

Can computer game landscapes target new audiences for landscape quality assessment?

This paper investigates and reflects upon the use of digital game landscapes as tools for visual quality assessment. It explores three distinct but related questions. First, can game landscapes engage the missing “young-voice” in landscape evaluations? Second, is it possible to represent the reality of typical landscape vistas? Third, does familiarity with such virtual reality environments impact on overall landscape ratings? This research draws on empirical work undertaken for the Welsh Government to evaluate the impact of their agri-environmental scheme Glastir on the rural landscapes of Wales. This project employed a new, GIS-enabled method to evaluate visual landscape quality, tested using an online photographic preference survey. Whilst the survey was successful, receiving over 2200 responses, young people (<25 years) were significantly underrepresented in the self-selecting sample. To address this gap, we stepped out of the real-world landscapes that most geographers are comfortable with, into the virtual landscapes of gaming. Our response was to create a virtual Welsh landscape which could be navigated in games software and manipulated to mimic landscape changes. A second survey incorporating images of this virtual landscape was first targeted at computer games design students and then secondly to the wider public, with both groups undertaking the same assessment. Overall >70% of respondents were highly satisfied with the quality of the landscape visualisations. Of those who had visited rural Wales before, 64% gave a rating of at least 7 out of 10 for its representativeness. No significant differences in overall landscape ratings were observed between the two groups which is helpful as it indicates that gaming familiarity would not preclude the use of such landscape visualisations in public consultation exercises. This paper considers results from this pilot study and discusses the visual accuracy of the Welsh landscape created. Wider methodological issues are outlined alongside some of the interdisciplinary challenges involved in the construction of the landscape visualisation
