The Digital Age has brought many changes that are affecting us as a society, but also as individuals. Therefore, the right to privacy has become something precious that has to be protected by legal provisions and applied in all spheres of life and for all generations. Considering that this topic is highly important from a legal perspective, the University of Miskolc, the Central European Academy, and numerous respected partners organised an international scientific conference under the title “The Right to Privacy in the Digital Age – In Specific Terms” which aimed to address this topic from several perspectives and with the views of presenters from numerous Central European countries. As part of this Conference which was held on 1 December 2022 at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the book entitled “The Right to Privacy in the Digital Age. The Perspective of Analysis on Certain Central European Countries” was introduced, which will certainly serve as relevant literature and help experts and scientists who deal with the protection of the right to privacy

    Echolocation in higer vertebrates

Emitiraju zvučne valove u okoliš i primajući jeku stvaraju sliku svoje okoline u glavi. Echolocation is the biological sonar used by some higher vertebrates that make their lifes easier in the region in which they live. It mainly used for finding food but also for communication and getting the perception of the environment in which they live. They emit sound waves into the environment and receiving the echo create a picture of your surroundings in mind. To do this they had to and adapt in different ways as I stated in the chapters relating to particular species. In this seminar, I put emphasis on bats and dolphins (toothed whales) because their echolocation is most researched. In birds it is also much explored, but only a small number of species use it and it is difficult to study because these animals live in remote areas. But with shrews scientists have a lot of work because their use of echolocation we know at least

Analysing sarcasm through the lens of (Im)Politeness

This thesis examines whether the perception of sarcasm changes in the absence of intonation. It is based on the examples from Woodland and Voyer’s Context and Intonation in the Perception of Sarcasm (2011). We try to answer this question by presenting only written examples and comparing the results to the original study. This study also offers an insight into how sarcasm is defined by non-linguists. Furthermore, this thesis presents the most important concepts (CP, PP, IP) and representatives in both politeness and impoliteness theory (Brown and Levinson, Leech and Culpepper) and focuses on the role of sarcasm within these theories. Finally, it explores which (im)politeness strategies and conventionalized impoliteness formulae were used in the aforementioned examples both on a semantic and a pragmatic level
