THE USE OF ANIME FAN FICTION STORY AS A MEDIA WITH VSS TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE THE TENTH GRADERSâ VOCABULARY
Abstract
Mastering in vocabulary is more specifically predictive and reflective of high levels of reading achievement. But, reading is not a habit yet in Indonesia because the learnersâ interest are low. Recently, there has been recognition that young people are able to engage in media in variety of ways, such as Anime Fan Fiction. And there is a technique of teaching vocabulary that can engage the learners in their own learning, an interactive learning that promotes word conciousness named VSS. Thus, this study was conducted to describe the new framework of the implementation and prove the learnersâ improvement of their vocabulary through reading Anime FanFiction with VSS technique. The objectives of this study were to show and describe how was the implementation of VSS technique for teaching vocabulary in contexts. To find out and prove that the learners have improved their vocabulary mastery after being taught using VSS technique in their reading class. This study was one group pre-posttest design which involved one class of the tenth graders at SMKN 6 Surabaya, the English teacher of the class and the 31 learners. This study was applied in two meetings on May, 7th and 13th, 2015. The data are taken by tthe observation checklist and the result of pre-posttest score. The findings showed that the score of the posttest was higher than the pretest. Then for the treatment, at the first meeting, the learners still faced the difficulty follow in step in analyzed vocabulary of VSS chart. Meanwhile, they could follow all the steps easily in the second meeting. So, this study was successful to improve the vocabulary through reading Anime Fan Fiction as a media with VSS technique.

Survival Following Rectal Impalement through the Pelvic, Abdominal, and Thoracic Cavities: A Case Report
Impalement injuries are a unique form of penetrating trauma and are typically associated with a fall onto the object (Steele, 2006). We present the case of a 45-year-old man who reportedly slipped in his bathtub and fell onto a broomstick. Radiographic examination revealed a slender mass extending from his rectum to the right side of his neck. A review of English literature suggests that this is the second reported case in the last 100 years describing the successful management of an impalement injury traversing the pelvic, abdominal, and thoracic cavities. The management of this case is described

Mesures du boson de Higgs produit en association avec un boson vecteur et se deÌsinteÌgrant en une paire de quarks-b avec le deÌtecteur ATLAS
The discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012 by the ATLAS and CMS experiments has opened a new research domain at the LHC, with the measurement of the properties of this particle to refine our understanding of the Standard Model and constrain physics beyond this model. The measurements of the Higgs boson decaying to a pair of b-quarks and produced alongside a W or Z boson, performed with the ATLAS detector using 139 fbâ»Âč of data collected in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV are presented in this thesis. Three channels are defined, the 0-, 1- and 2-lepton channels, depending on the number of charged leptons coming from the decay of the vector boson. The analysis takes advantage of the full Run-2 data statistics and of the improvement of many analysis techniques, which increases its sensitivity and allows the observation of the ZH signal and a strong evidence of the WH signal in this decay channel of the Higgs boson into pairs of b-quarks. Differential cross-section measurements are also performed and are found to be in good agreement with the Standard Model. The ATLAS detector will undergo many upgrades in preparation for the HL-LHC operation to be able to cope with the increase in luminosity and pile-up level. Therefore the liquid argon calorimeter readout electronics will be replaced. A part of this thesis is dedicated to check if the Front-End pre-amplifier prototypes proposed for the upgrade comply with the physics requirements.La deÌcouverte du boson de Higgs en 2012 par les expeÌriences ATLAS et CMS a ouvert tout un nouveau domaine de recherche au LHC: la mesure des proprieÌteÌs de cette particule permet dâaffiner notre compreÌhension du ModeÌle Standard et de contraindre la physique au-delaÌ de ce ModeÌle. Searches for heavy resonances by ATLAS and CMS
Many new physics models predict the existence of new, heavy particles. This talk summarizes recent ATLAS and CMS searches for Beyond-the-Standard-Model heavy resonances which decay to pairs of bosons, heavy quarks, or leptons, using Run 2 data collected at the LHC. The experimental methods are explained, including the jet substructure techniques used in some searches to disentangle the hadronic decay products in highly boosted configurations
Measurement of the Standard Model Higgs boson produced in association with a vector boson and decaying to a pair of b-quarks in p-p collisions at 13 TeV using the ATLAS detector
The Higgs boson decays to pairs of -quarks were measured in associated production with a or boson by the ATLAS collaboration. The decay to -quarks is of particular importance since it allows a direct measurement of the coupling of the Higgs boson to -quarks. The highest sensitivity in this channel is obtained when the vector boson produced alongside the Higgs boson decays to leptons. The analysed data were collected in proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider during Run-2 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The final state requires having exactly 2 -tagged jets and either 0, 1 or 2 charged leptons (electron or muons) corresponding to the following channels: , and . The analysis benefits from the full Run-2 data and from novel techniques used to improve the analysis sensitivity. The measurements yield the observation of the signal as well as the observation of the signal and a strong evidence of the signal. The results are validated with the diboson () analysis by measuring the signal strength, and are cross-checked with the di-jet mass analysis which also leads to the observation of the signal. All the results are in good agreement with the Standard Model expectations
