    Comet grigg-skjellerup in the 21th century

    The evolution of the orbit of comet Grigg-Skjellerup will cause new approaches to Jupiter during the 21th century. The orbital elements of the comet will change in the course of these encounters, so that the computed declination displacement of the radiant will amount to 23°.     The leonid meteor swarm in 2000-2002

    The observations of comet Tempel-Tuttle during its present apparition in 1997-1998 allowed the astronomers to improve its orbital elements. The simulation of a meteoroid swarm on the basis of the new orbital elements of this comet for 14 perihelion passages from 1533 to 1965 gives a clear picture of the positions of meteoric particles in the Earth's neighborhood. Their distribution at the time close to 1999, when the Earth crosses the descending node of the orbit of the comet, is shown on the plots. © 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica"

    Comet Grigg-Skjellerup must return to its perihelion on November 29, 2002. Before that, it will pass by Jupiter at a distance of 0.5 AU. A simulation of the meteor swarm that is related to this comet in origin has been made for 19 perihelia since 1907. Particles ejected from the nucleus at velocities ±40 m/s in the direction perpendicular to its radius vector are concentrated around the comet and do not approach the Earth, while for particles ejected at velocities ±60 m/s, conditions for the encounter with Jupiter are different; they approach Jupiter to a distance of 0.1 AU, then pass near the Earth's orbit at a distance of 0.01 AU. However, these particles have substantially different radiant coordinates and hardly form a flow of sufficient density

    Analysis of the upper limit of the Southworth-hawkins d criterion for the Pons-winneckid and perseid meteoroid streams

    The value of the upper limit of the Southworth-Hawkins D criterion for the Pons-Winneckids (June Bootid) and Perseids meteor streams is analyzed on the basis of the comparison of the parent comet orbit with the model orbits of meteoroids ejected at different points of the comet orbit with the most likely ejection velocities. The change of the D values is investigated depending on the dynamic evolution of the streams by integrating forward the orbital elements of the model particles using the Cowell method taking into account the perturbations from all planets. It is shown that after ten rotations, for Pons-Winneckids the upper limit of the D criterion is higher than 0.5 and for Perseids the D criterion does not exceed 0.2. © Pleiades Publishing, Inc., 2009

    Mixed Weyl Symbol Calculus and Spectral Line Shape Theory

    A new and computationally viable full quantum version of line shape theory is obtained in terms of a mixed Weyl symbol calculus. The basic ingredient in the collision--broadened line shape theory is the time dependent dipole autocorrelation function of the radiator-perturber system. The observed spectral intensity is the Fourier transform of this correlation function. A modified form of the Wigner--Weyl isomorphism between quantum operators and phase space functions (Weyl symbols) is introduced in order to describe the quantum structure of this system. This modification uses a partial Wigner transform in which the radiator-perturber relative motion degrees of freedom are transformed into a phase space dependence, while operators associated with the internal molecular degrees of freedom are kept in their original Hilbert space form. The result of this partial Wigner transform is called a mixed Weyl symbol. The star product, Moyal bracket and asymptotic expansions native to the mixed Weyl symbol calculus are determined. The correlation function is represented as the phase space integral of the product of two mixed symbols: one corresponding to the initial configuration of the system, the other being its time evolving dynamical value. There are, in this approach, two semiclassical expansions -- one associated with the perturber scattering process, the other with the mixed symbol star product. These approximations are used in combination to obtain representations of the autocorrelation that are sufficiently simple to allow numerical calculation. The leading O(\hbar^0) approximation recovers the standard classical path approximation for line shapes.     As the life expectancy of patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) increases, the rate of pulmonary and extrapulmonary complications grows and greater contributes to worsening of general somatic status of the patients. One of such complications is osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a systemic disease that is characterized by decreased bone density and increased risk of fractures in minimal trauma. The role of osteoporosis in CF patients is defined by consequences of osteoporotic fractures which are immobilization, failure of bronchial tree drainage, exacerbation of respiratory infection, and progress of respiratory failure. Therefore, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis is an important issue of adult CF patients.В статье отражены современные методы лечения и профилактики остеопороза (ОП) при муковисцидозе (МВ). С увеличением продолжительности жизни больных МВ все бóльшую роль в ухудшении общесоматического статуса играет возросшая частота легочных и внелегочных осложнений заболевания, одним из которых является ОП – системное заболевание, для которого характерны снижение прочности кости и повышение риска переломов при минимальной травме (низкоэнергетические переломы). Значимость ОП при МВ определена последствиями остеопоротических переломов скелета – иммобилизацией, нарушением эффективного дренажа бронхиального дерева, обострением бронхолегочной инфекции, прогрессированием дыхательной недостаточности. Тем самым профилактика и лечение ОП являются актуальными проблемами МВ взрослых. Отмечено, что целями дальнейших исследований в этой области являются определение групп высокого риска развития остеопоротических переломов, совершенствование профилактики и режимов терапии доступными препаратами и поиск новых лекарственных средств для лечения ОП у больных МВ при индивидуальном подходе к каждому пациенту

    Остеопороз при муковисцидозе: вопросы терминологии, диагностики и клинической картины

    Continuous growth of proportion of adult patients in the total number of patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) is accompanied by the increasing rate of pulmonary and extrapulmonary complications, mainly secondary osteoporosis. This is a multifactorial disease predominantly associated with chronic microbial and inflammatory processes, vitamin D deficiency, low body mass index, delayed puberty and hypogonadism, and long-term (≥3 months) therapy with oral steroids. Controversal issues of terminology and current diagnostic approach to osteoporosis in CF patients have been discussed in the article. Diagnosis of osteoporosis in CF patients should not be based solely on osteodensitometry findings but also on thorough analysis of clinical signs and symptoms, other image diagnostic investigations and laboratory data. Detection of the risk factors could help to control this disease.Постоянно увеличивающаяся доля взрослых пациентов в общей структуре больных муковисцидозом (МВ) сопровождается ростом числа легочных и внелегочных осложнений, значительную долю которых составляет вторичный остеопороз (ОП) – мультифакториальное заболевание, ассоциированное прежде всего с хроническим микробно-воспалительным процессом, дефицитом витамина D, низким индексом массы тела, задержкой полового созревания и гипогонадизмом, длительной (≥ 3 мес.) терапией пероральными глюкокортикостероидами. В статье отражены спорные вопросы терминологии и современные методы диагностики ОП при МВ. Сделан вывод, что диагностика ОП у больных МВ основана не только на данных остеоденситометрии, но и на тщательном анализе клинической картины заболевания, применении других методов имидж-диагностики, показателях лабораторных исследований. Контроль над этим осложнением определяется выявлением факторов риска
