The Complexity of Finding S-Factors in Regular Graphs

    Get PDF
A graph G has an S-factor if there exists a spanning subgraph F of G such that for all v in V: deg_F(v) in S. The simplest example of such factor is a 1-factor, which corresponds to a perfect matching in a graph. In this paper we study the computational complexity of finding S-factors in regular graphs. Our techniques combine some classical as well as recent tools from graph theory

Simulation of Traffic Flow to Analyze Lane Changes on Multi-lane Highways under Non-lane Discipline

    Get PDF
The present study uses the microscopic traffic simulation flow model VISSIM for generating traffic flow data to obtain the essential parameters. Study calibrated and validated the VISSIM model based on the field data. Further, lane change behaviour is analyzed with homogeneous vehicle type traffic on four-lane, six-lane and eight-lane divided highways sections through VISSIM simulation model. The study finds the number of lane changes depends on traffic volume as well as on a number of lanes provided for a direction of travel. Lane change data was correlated with traffic volume, and the third-degree polynomial trend was found to be fitted on each type of simulated highway sections. A maximum number of lane changes and lane change at the capacity level of the volume are also quantified on simulated sections of four-lane, six-lane and eight-lane divided highways

Solid Oxide Fuel Cells have attracted much attention over the past few decades due to their huge potential for clean power generation in stationary, portable and transport applications and our increasing need for sustainable energy resources. The purpose of this research is to develop an interconnect and cathode material for use in solid oxide fuel cells which demonstrates desired properties of high electrical conductivity, excellent chemical stability at high temperatures, desirable thermal expansion characteristics and which can be easily manufactured by sintering in conditions acceptable with other cell components. The present work was initiated to study the synthesis and properties of five different perovskite oxides comprising of Lanthanum in combination with different mol% of Chromium, Ferrum, Cobalt and Nickel. A polymer complexing route with slight modifications was used to prepare the precursor powders. The powder x-ray diffraction patterns at room temperature show that all samples were formed in single phase. The powders in the form of pellets were sintered at 1400°C. The temperature dependent resistivity data was measured and the conductivity data was calculated. This conductivity data have been fitted with the Arrhenius model for entire studied range of temperature (25-800°C) to calculate the activation energy. La based perovskite oxides were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Electrical properties and microstructural studies show potential applications of the materials as interconnect and cathode for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell. The material which has the above desired properties was proposed and component modifications for tailoring such properties were shown for SOFCs and other similar applications

Acylated Flavone Glycosides from the Roots of Saussurea lappa and Their Antifungal Activity

The isolation of four novel acylated flavonoid glycosides from the roots of Saussurea lappa and their identification using a combination of 1D and 2D NMR and mass spectrometry is described. The in vitro antifungal and antibacterial activities of the isolated compounds and their mixture were tested on nine fungal and four bacterial strains, using the microdilution method. The compounds and mixture showed moderate to high antifungal activity against most of the fungi tested, compared to a miconazole standard, while only one compound and the mixture showed antibacterial activity against all strains tested
