    Stress and Exercise

Age-related immunological and endocrinological changes may have implications for resilience to stress in older adults. We hypothesise that the combination of adrenopause and immunesenescence may leave this population particularly vulnerable to the negative effects of stress on immunity. We propose that exercise may be an effective intervention to limit the impact of stress on immunity in chronically stressed older populations

THE CUBA PARADOX: An Assessment of Primary and Maternal Healthcare in Cuba Today

    Get PDF
Cuba’s healthcare system is lauded on the Global Health stage as renowned. Low mother/infant mortality rates paired with low infectious disease transmission rates have garnered Cuba’s maternal and primary healthcare systems significant fame. In addition to these healthcare feats, Cuban women experience challenges in finding access to basic forms of over-the-counter care. The Cuba Paradox emerges in which a Cuban woman’s healthcare experience in places such as Mayajigua, Cuba (407 km southeast of Havana) is characterized by access to acute care (expensive treatments such as IVF) and lacks of access to active care (over-the-counter products such as Acetaminophen/Ibuprofen and feminine hygiene). This study aims to investigate the primary and reproductive care paradoxes presented to Cuban women today, specifically in rural Mayajigua, Cuba. A Mixed Methods approach that synthesizes information from a 2015 independent research quantitative survey alongside a 2016 independent research ethnographic project were used to assess the Cuban Medical Paradox in a holistic manner. Analysis showed that the Cuba Paradox exists due to a series of recent international developments, notably the 2016 Cuban Special Period. These results have implications on the study of the Cuban healthcare system at large in addition to implications for healthcare policy assessment beyond Cuba

This thesis describes a call quality testing between mobile stations, registered in network formed by Asterisk private branch exchange and station USRP N210, which serves as transceiver for OpenBTS - software implementation of GSM access point. Furthermore, the calls are tested with PESQ method and their results are compared with results of the call participants results, recorded by IVR service. This comparison serves for assessing, if the PESQ method is suitable for testing the quality of speech in OpenBTS network, how much are measured results different and also how could possibly be PESQ method with IVR service used for better call quality assessment in mobile networks.440 - Katedra telekomunikační technikyvýborn

Bachelor thesis deals with questions of roughing tooth gap at gearwheels with high modules on a horizontal boring machine WT200H-CNC and the possibilities for increasing of manufacturing productivity. The introduction acquaints with current production technology, further we will concentrate on progressive methods of milling. Main part of the bachelor thesis deals with practical tests of tools chosen for rationalization of process on a test material. Evaluation of a test is carried out from economical and performance point of view. After evaluation of knowledge from practical tests the best variant of tool will be chosen and recommended.346 - Katedra obrábění, montáže a strojírenské metrologievýborn
