    Natural progression of deep pelvic endometriosis in women who opt for expectant management

    Introduction: The natural history of endometriosis is poorly understood, and despite numerous studies, the rate of the disease progression and optimal treatment planning in women who are asymptomatic or experience mild symptoms not requiring treatment are unknown. The aim of this study was to assess the behavior of deep endometriosis in women who are managed expectantly without any medical or surgical intervention. Material and methods: A retrospective cohort study of women diagnosed with deep endometriosis on transvaginal ultrasound scan at the Department of Gynecology, University College London Hospitals and The Gynecology Ultrasound Centre, London, UK, from April 2007 to April 2022. All women attended for at least two ultrasound scans which were carried out by a single expert ultrasound examiner and at least 6 months apart. The number and position of endometriotic nodules were recorded, and the mean diameter of each nodule was calculated from measurements taken in three orthogonal planes. Results: During the study period, 1922 women were found to have moderate or severe deep endometriosis on pelvic ultrasound examination. A total of 135 premenopausal women who were managed expectantly fitted the inclusion criteria. The median number of endometriotic nodules per woman at the initial visit was 2 (range: 0–7), and the median follow-up time was 666 days (181–2984). In the follow-up period, 50/135 women (37%, 95% CI: 29–46) developed additional nodules or experienced an increase in nodule size, and 17/135 women (13%, 95% CI: 8–19) had a regression in the number or size of the nodules. In the remaining 68/135 women (50%, 95% CI: 42–59) the disease remained static during the follow-up. The median change in mean diameter of nodules during the study period per woman was +0.13 mm (−11.67 − +5.83), with an annual growth rate of +0.09 mm/year (−6.65 − +6.45). Conclusions: In our study we found evidence of deep endometriosis progression in just over a third of women. In view of this, asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic women diagnosed with deep endometriosis could be reassured that their disease is unlikely to worsen with time

    In this paper we present the application of a modified Extended Kalman filter on a test device. This device is intended to be both rugged and simple to use, providing an accurate position and velocity output for land vehicles. As there are already many applications available for this purpose, our test device is unique in a way that it can be mounted in an arbitrary position on any metal surface on a vehicle, while it automatically discovers its orientation and aligns itself during the first stage of the test period. It comes as an extremely robust and low-cost solution. Furthermore, the pre-alignment outputs are corrected using a reverse output correction during the test period, immediately providing accurate outputs. The alignment algorithm greatly (by factor of 20 or more) reduces the initialization time. In addition, a novel smoothing algorithm with forward computation is described. The developed algorithm is tested with real-world experiments and proved to have a similar accuracy as the reference system, although using much cheaper and less-reliable sensor equipment.U ovome radu opisana je implementacija modificiranog proširenog kalmanovog filtra na testnom uređaju. Uređaj je robustan i jednostavan za upotrebu te omogućava dobivanje točne pozicije i brzine kao izlaznih parametara zemljanih vozila. S obzirom da postoji velik broj postojećih aplikacija, naš testni uređaj je jedinstven u smislu da može biti postavljen u proizvoljnu poziciju na metalnu površinu na vozilu. Uređaj automatski određuje svoju orijentaciju te se poravnava tijekom prvog dijela testnog perioda. Ujedno je vrlo robustan i niske cijene. Izlaz koji se dobije prije poravnavanja ispravljen je koristeći obrnutu korekciju izlaza tijekom testne faze čime se dobiju točni izlazi. Algoritam poravnavanja znatno (za faktor 20 i više) reducira vrijeme potrebno za inicijalizaciju. Opisan je novi algoritam izglađivanja s unaprijednim proračunom. Razvijeni algoritam testiran je na stvarnim podacima te je pokazano da ima sličnu preciznost kao referentni sustav, unatoč korištenju jeftinije i manje pouzdane opreme

    PROTECTING OF COMPUTER NETWORKS IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

    Varnost informacijskih sistemov v vzgojno-izobraževalnih zavodih je na prvi pogled videti enostavna. Vendar, kot je pokazala raziskava, na zavodih večinoma nimajo osebe, ki bi primarno skrbela za informacijski sistem. Še največkrat so to učitelji, ki poleg svojega rednega dela (poučevanja) skrbijo še za informacijski sistem in nimajo ustreznega znanja o vzdrževanju in primerni varnosti. V Sloveniji jim pri nasvetih za lokalna omrežja in strežnike svetuje Arnes, znotraj Arnesa pa glede varnosti SI-CERT in njegov projekt ozaveščanja, Varni na Internetu. V nalogi je predstavljeno stanje varnosti v vzgojno-izobraževalnih zavodih v Sloveniji. Raziskali smo tudi dobre prakse v tujini. Na podlagi rezultatov ankete in dobrih praks iz tujine smo podali mnenja, kaj bi lahko, za dodatno varnost informacijskih sistemov v vzgojno-izobraževalnih zavodih, storili država, Arnes in sami zavodi. Kot pomoč zavodom pri vzpostavitvi varnega računalniškega omrežja smo pripravili tudi nasvete za vzpostavitev varnostne politike in priporočila za zaščito računalniških omrežij.IT security in educational organizations seems anything but hard at a first glance. However as the research has shown, educational institutions don\u27t have dedicated IT persons to take care of their informational system. This job is mostly run by teachers who in addition to their teaching also take care of the institution\u27s information system, even though they are not properly educated. In Slovenia Arnes is advising them how to manage their local connections and Si-Cert, who is a part of Arnes, with their project Safe on the internet about managing security. Thesis presents the state of security in Slovenian educational organizations. We have researched best practices abroad. Based on the pole results and cases of best practices from abroad, we passed an opinion what could do Arnes, the state and institutions for the security of their information system. As assistance on how to safely connect to the network, we have also prepared additional guidelines how to establish security policy and recommendations on protecting computer network

    Med izgorevanjem in čiščenjem dimnih plinov v termoelektrarni nastajajo stranski produkti, ki jih je potrebno transportirati na deponije. Za ta namen uporabljamo transportne sisteme, ki so opisani v diplomski nalogi. V prvem delu je opis standardov, ki jih je bilo potrebno upoštevati pri izdelavi. V nadaljevanju je opis termoelektrarne Ugljevik in opis elementov enega od transporterjev. Sledi podroben opis transporterja G-1 ter njegov način vodenja. V zadnjem delu sta predstavljena še dva možna načina vodenja, ki sta izrisana s pomočjo programskega paketa EPLAN, kateri je tudi na kratko opisan. Predstavljene so prednosti in slabosti posameznih tipov vodenja.The smokey gases are caused between combustion and cleaning in the thermal power station. In the first chapter the used standards are described. Later is the thermal power station Ugljevik and one of the transporter are described. The detailed description of transporter G-1 and its way of leading is followed. In the last chapter there are two possible ways of leading are shortly presented.     From DCOM interfaces to domain-specific modeling language

    Software development is a demanding process, since it involves different parties to perform a desired task. The same case applies to the development ofmeasurement systems - measurement system producers often provide interfaces to their products, after which the customersć programming engineers use them to build software according to the instructions and requirements of domain experts from the field of data acquisition. Until recently, the customers of the measurement system DEWESoft were building measuring applications, using prefabricated DCOM objects. However, a significant amount of interaction between customersć programming engineers and measurement system producers is necessary to use DCOM objects. Therefore, a domain-specific modeling language has been developed to enable domain experts to program or model their own measurement procedures without interacting with programming engineers. In thispaper, experiences gained during the shift from using the DEWESoft productas a programming library to domain-specific modeling language are provided together with the details of a Sequencer, a domain-specific modeling language for the construction of measurement procedures
