    The study of reproduction of seven rare plant species (Epipactis helleborine, Listera ovata, Platanthera chlorantha, Circaea alpine, Lilium martagon, Pulsatilla patens and Pyrolachlorantha) is conducted in the conditions of the National Nature Park “Desniansko-Starogutsky”. It covers more than 700 individuals with the use of non-destructive methods of morphometry. Reproductive effort is determined as the ratio of quantitative indicators and leaf-area duration. It has been found out that Pulsatilla patens is the most successful species in reproduction. Reproductive effort of this species reaches almost 500 %, because Pulsatilla patens reproduces primarily by seed. Lilium martagon is characterized by the least contribution to reproduction (1,05 %). Among three representatives of the Orchidaceae family, Listera ovata has made the greatest contribution to reproduction (RE is equal to 30,15 %), and in Platantherachlorantha and Epipactis helleborine this indicator do not exceed 15 %.     The aim of the study is to reveal early echocardiography signs of cardiac remodeling in arterial hypertension patients with Doppler study of transmitral diastolic flow at rest as well as in exercise test (Valsalva’s test and an isometric exercise test) (stress echocardiography). Material and methods. The study involved 92 teens (49 boys and 43 girls, 53% and 47%, relatively) aged 12-18 (mean age 14.9 ± 1.71). The patient (basic group) included 36 adolescents with clinically confirmed hypertension (39%). The second (comparison) group involved 28 healthy adolescents with normal arterial pressure and risk factors of cardiac illnesses (30.5%). The third group included 28 healthy adolescents (30.5%) with normal arterial pressure and without any cardiac risk factors. There were no gender and age differences between the groups. Clinical study of the groups with standard techniques was performed and involved family history taking to detect risk factors of any cardiac diseases, cardiac rhythm assessment and measurement of arterial pressure. Echocardiography was made in accordance with standards techniques with a Japanese ultrasound diagnostic device “Nemio XG” manufactures by Toshiba. Parameters of diastolic filling of the left ventricle at rest and at the pick of exercise tests (Valsalva’s test and isometric test) were assessed. Program SPSS 19.0 for Windows was used for statistic analysis of the obtained data. . Results. Healthy adolescents with increased cardiovascular risks as well as adolescents with arterial hypertension can demonstrate inadequate response of the cardiovascular system to exercises. In both groups of adolescents a decrease in the diastolic reserve has been revealed (as a change of the cardiac function as a response to post-exercise). Conclusions. The detected patterns of early left ventricular remodeling provide an opportunity to consider that hemodynamic disturbances specific for arterial hypertension start their development long before clear and evident clinical manifestation of the arterial pressure appear. The condition requires certain preventive measures to decrease the risk of a cardiovascular disease development. Assessment of diastolic left ventricular filling and control of arterial pressure both at rest and in exercises are recommended to be performed for the early diagnostics of the condition.Цель исследования: выявить ранние эхокардиографические признаки сердечно-сосудистого ремоделирования у подростков с артериальной гипертензией (АГ) методом допплеровского исследования трансмитрального диастолического потока в покое, а также при проведении нагрузочных проб (Вальсальвы и с изометрической нагрузкой). Материал и методы. Обследовано 92 подростка (49 (53%) мальчиков и 43 (47%) девочки) в возрасте от 12 до 18 лет (средний возраст 14,9 ± 1,71 года). В первую (основную) группу вошло 36 (39%) подростков с установленным клиническим диагнозом АГ, во вторую группу (сравнения) - 28 (30,5%) здоровых подростков с нормальным АД и наличием факторов риска сердечнососудистых заболеваний (ССЗ). Третью (контрольную) группу составили 28 (30,5%) здоровых подростков с нормальным АД и отсутствием факторов риска ССЗ. Группы сравнения были сопоставимы по возрасту и полу. Было проведено общеклиническое обследование на основании общепринятых стандартов, изучение семейного анамнеза на наличие факторов риска ССЗ, измерение ЧСС, АД. Эхокардиография выполнялась на ультразвуковом аппарате Nemio XG фирмы Toshiba (Япония) по общепринятой методике. Оценивались параметры диастолического наполнения левого желудочка в состоянии покоя и на высоте нагрузочных проб (Вальсальвы и изометрическая). Для статистической обработки использовался пакет статистических программ SPSS 19.0 for Windows. Результаты. При изучении влияния нагрузочных проб на организм в исследуемых группах было выявлено, что у здоровых подростков, имеющих повышенный кардиоваскулярный риск, так же как и у подростков с АГ, отмечается неадекватная реакция сердечно-сосудистой системы на нагрузку. Также у них выявлено снижение диастолического резерва (изменение сердечной функции в ответ на постнагрузку). Выводы. Выявленные закономерности раннего ремоделирования левого желудочка позволяют предположить, что специфические для АГ нарушения гемодинамики начинают развиваться задолго до появления клинически значимого повышения АД и требуют превентивных мер с целью снижения риска развития ССЗ. Для их раннего выявления у подростков с АГ и в группе риска по ее развитию следует проводить оценку диастолического наполнения левого желудочка и измерение АД не только в покое, но и при проведении нагрузочных проб

    Microbiome Responses to an Uncontrolled Short-Term Diet Intervention in the Frame of the Citizen Science Project

    Personalized nutrition is of increasing interest to individuals actively monitoring their health. The relations between the duration of diet intervention and the effects on gut microbiota have yet to be elucidated. Here we examined the associations of short-term dietary changes, long-term dietary habits and lifestyle with gut microbiota. Stool samples from 248 citizen-science volunteers were collected before and after a self-reported 2-week personalized diet intervention, then analyzed using 16S rRNA sequencing. Considerable correlations between long-term dietary habits and gut community structure were detected. A higher intake of vegetables and fruits was associated with increased levels of butyrate-producing Clostridiales and higher community richness. A paired comparison of the metagenomes before and after the 2-week intervention showed that even a brief, uncontrolled intervention produced profound changes in community structure: resulting in decreased levels of Bacteroidaceae, Porphyromonadaceae and Rikenellaceae families and decreased alpha-diversity coupled with an increase of Methanobrevibacter, Bifidobacterium, Clostridium and butyrate-producing Lachnospiraceae- as well as the prevalence of a permatype (a bootstrapping-based variation of enterotype) associated with a higher diversity of diet. The response of microbiota to the intervention was dependent on the initial microbiota state. These findings pave the way for the development of an individualized diet.</p

    Modeling of GERDA Phase II data

    The GERmanium Detector Array (GERDA) experiment at the Gran Sasso underground laboratory (LNGS) of INFN is searching for neutrinoless double-beta (0νββ0\nu\beta\beta) decay of 76^{76}Ge. The technological challenge of GERDA is to operate in a "background-free" regime in the region of interest (ROI) after analysis cuts for the full 100\,kg\cdotyr target exposure of the experiment. A careful modeling and decomposition of the full-range energy spectrum is essential to predict the shape and composition of events in the ROI around QββQ_{\beta\beta} for the 0νββ0\nu\beta\beta search, to extract a precise measurement of the half-life of the double-beta decay mode with neutrinos (2νββ2\nu\beta\beta) and in order to identify the location of residual impurities. The latter will permit future experiments to build strategies in order to further lower the background and achieve even better sensitivities. In this article the background decomposition prior to analysis cuts is presented for GERDA Phase II. The background model fit yields a flat spectrum in the ROI with a background index (BI) of 16.040.85+0.7810316.04^{+0.78}_{-0.85} \cdot 10^{-3}\,cts/(kg\cdotkeV\cdotyr) for the enriched BEGe data set and 14.680.52+0.4710314.68^{+0.47}_{-0.52} \cdot 10^{-3}\,cts/(kg\cdotkeV\cdotyr) for the enriched coaxial data set. These values are similar to the one of Gerda Phase I despite a much larger number of detectors and hence radioactive hardware components

    Artificial intelligence (AI) can have a significant positive impact on health and healthcare. AI can be used to improve the quality, efficiency and equity of health care. However, AI has the potential to have significant negative impacts. Therefore, AI medical applications should be designed and deployed in accordance with established guidelines and legislation. There may be gaps or questions in the current regulatory framework related to the interpretation and application of the existing regulatory framework to healthcare applications that include artificial intelligence solutions. Global standardization maintains a consistent approach and can reduce the burden on stakeholders when it comes to establishing regulatory frameworks, interpreting and complying with regulatory requirements. While AI is far from new, it has only recently become mainstream.
