    In the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model and the RR-parity breaking model, we investigate various production processes of the supersymmetric partner at HERA energies. Our emphasis is paid upon the scalar top quark, the partner of top quark, characterized by its lighter mass than the top quark and other scalar quarks in a model.     A five-step technique for microswitch manufacture is described: (1) A clad board is inlaid with a precious metal and the board is pressed. (2) One end of the fixed contact containing a precious metal inlay section is curved, and this edge of the precious metal inlay section becomes a fixed contact. (3) Inserts are formed in the unit body and terminal strips are placed through the top and bottom of the base and held. (4) The unit body is held by the base and the sequential contact strips are cut off. (5) Movable stripes are attached to the support of the terminal strips on the movable side and movable contacts are placed opposite the fixed contacts

    Hydrophobic coating of solid materials by plasma-polymerized thin film using tetrafluoroethylene

    Glass slides were coated with plasma-polymerized tetrafluoroethylene films of different thickness using the glow discharge technique in a tube-shaped chamber, and the plasma conditions, film growth rates, light permeability of the polymer films, and particle bond strength in the polymer films were studied. Ashed sections of mouse organs and ashed bacillus spores were also coated to give them hydrophobic treatment without damaging their shapes or appearance. The hydrophobic coating of the specimens was successful, and the fine ash patterns were strongly fixed onto the glass slides, making permanent preparations

    Geomagnetic field variations at the equatorial electrojet station in Sri Lanka, Peredinia

    The paper discusses the variations of the horizontal (<i>H</i>), vertical (<i>Z</i>) and eastward (<i>Y</i>) components of the geomagnetic field at Peredinia (PRD), an electrojet station in Sri Lanka, with the time of the day, season, sudden commencement (SSC) and during geomagnetic storms. The daily variation of <i>H</i> showed a large peak around midday. The daily variation of <i>Z</i> appeared to be almost a time gradient curve of the daily variation of <i>H</i>, showing a maximum around 09:00 LT (75° EMT) when the <i>H</i> field was increasing fastest and not at noon when Δ <i>H</i> was the maximum. Storm time variation of <i>H</i> resembled the variation of the <i>D<sub>st</sub></i> index but that of <i>Z</i> showed a large minimum about 2-3h before the time of minimum <i>D<sub>st</sub></i> or at the time of maximum time gradient of <i>D<sub>st</sub></i> variation. These features are compared with corresponding variations at the equatorial stations Trivandrum (TRD) in India, and remarkable similarity in all observations is noticed at PRD and TRD. It is suggested that the observed abnormal features of <i>Z</i> variations at electrojet stations in India-Sri Lanka are due to (i) direct effect of the ionospheric electrojet current (ii) the induction effect of the image current by the average spatially extended conductivity region and (iii) the induction current in the local subsurface conductor. It is suggested that the conductor responsible for the observed features in <i>Z</i> in India and Sri Lanka has to have extended spatial domain to latitudes well south of India, rather than confined to narrow Palk Strait

    Protein-crystal growth experiment (planned)

    To evaluate the effectiveness of a microgravity environment on protein crystal growth, a system was developed using 5 cubic feet Get Away Special payload canister. In the experiment, protein (myoglobin) will be simultaneously crystallized from an aqueous solution in 16 crystallization units using three types of crystallization methods, i.e., batch, vapor diffusion, and free interface diffusion. Each unit has two compartments: one for the protein solution and the other for the ammonium sulfate solution. Compartments are separated by thick acrylic or thin stainless steel plates. Crystallization will be started by sliding out the plates, then will be periodically recorded up to 120 hours by a still camera. The temperature will be passively controlled by a phase transition thermal storage component and recorded in IC memory throughout the experiment. Microgravity environment can then be evaluated for protein crystal growth by comparing crystallization in space with that on Earth

    Single scalar top production with polarized beams in ep collisions at HERA

    From the point of view of the R-parity breaking supersymmetric model, we propose a scalar top (stop) search with longitudinally polarized electron (e-) and positron(e+) beams which will soon be available at the upgraded HERA. Fully polarized e- or e+ beams could produce the stop two times as much as unpolarized beams, while they increase background events due to the process of the standard model by about 30% in comparison with unpolarized ones. We show that right-handed e+ beams at HERA is efficient to produce the stop in the model. With 1 fb**(-1) of integrated luminosity we estimate reach in the coupling constant lambda'(131) for masses of the stop in the range 160-400 GeV. We can set a 95% confidence-level exclusion limit for lambda'(131) > 0.01-0.05 in the stop mass range of 240-280 GeV if no singal of the stop is observed. We also point out that y(=Q**2/sx) distributions of e+ coming from the stop shows the different behavior from those of the standard model.Comment: 12 pages, 6 eps figure

    Globalization is a modern phenomenon of the human civilization and travelling in order to learn about others’ culture is essential. This thesis introduces cultural tourism in terms of art and creativity. The main aim of this thesis was to successfully organize an event to celebrate the week against racism in Pietarsaari. The preliminary objective of the thesis was to unite multinational people living in Pietarsaari. Another important purpose of this thesis was to analyze if art and culture can upsurge the Nepalese tourism industry. In this report culture and art were focused on as forms of cultural tourism and portrayed as an important social, physical and mental element of our lives. The methodology used in this report is primary and secondary data analysis. Conduction of a questionnaire that was aimed towards potential target groups helped the authors to access the analytical part of the event and find the conclusions. Event planning, the management process and theories of marketing were used for analyzing the data. After the data was obtained by using a quantitative analysis method, the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software was used to find reliable results. Nepali culture and art was examined in detail for better understanding during the show. Finally, assessment and conclusions were derived from the event. The study divulged that most of the visitors preferred the show performed in Music Café After Eight and promotion of Nepali culture was possible. It was known that organizing a variety of shows is challenging whereas it is interesting for the ones who want to enjoy different shows in one place
